Chapter 40: Chapter 40 Analyzing Information
Nick Fury placed the pager on his desk, its faint blinking light reflecting his thoughtful expression. Tony Stark, seated casually across from him, noticed the device immediately. "What's this? An old pager?" he asked, his curiosity piqued
"This is my last trump card, used to call for help at the most critical moment." Nick Fury looked at the pager that was constantly flashing light and recalled the past with Captain Marvel.
"What does that mean? A trump card? Calling for help? You're telling me you've got reinforcements, and you're relying on this ancient relic to summon them?" Tony looked at Nick Fury, wondering what kind of reinforcements such an old pager could call for.
"Yes! A powerful reinforcement, but it may take her a while to come, after all, she may be far away from us."
"How far?"
"I don't know. I don't even know when she will come, but it probably won't be too long. After all, the information from the screen can be seen by the whole universe."
Over the past few months, Earth's scientists had confirmed that the mysterious screen broadcast its messages simultaneously across the universe. The information it shared wasn't constrained by the limits of time or space.
"Okay then. How's your analysis of the information from The Screen?" Tony looked at Nick Fury, wanting to know his opinions.
"Tell me about yours first."
Tony didn't comment and told him all his previous guesses. Nick Fury nodded, then handed a document to Tony and said, "I don't know what that 'huge energy' is at the moment, but we have something similar, which is what the document in your hand describes."
"Cosmic Cube? What is that? Hmm... interesting!" Tony looked at the information about the Cosmic Cube in his hand, but he couldn't figure out anything for the time being.
"Let's put this aside for now. It won't be too late to study it later. What do you think about that 'War!'?" Tony put the information aside. Although the Cosmic Cube is very interesting, it is not something that can be studied easily.
"My opinion? How would I know! That's a war concerning the entire universe. Does the Earth have the ability to launch such a war? To be honest, I don't believe it myself! Do you believe it?" Nick Fury didn't think that the Earth had this ability at all.
"Also, there are not only Earthlings in this universe. Maybe the war was started by aliens, and then it spread to Earth."
"Hmm... The Earth, human who can't even leave the solar system, has become the savior of the entire universe? It feels like a third-rate plot on a movie. To be honest, I don't believe it." Tony changed his posture and said.
"Also, how do you know for sure there are aliens? Have you ever encountered one?"
"Yes, Tony. You don't think we've done nothing in all these years, do you?"
"Really? Tell me about it..." Tony expressed his doubt.
"You don't need to know so much. There are many things you don't understand, and there is no need to understand them."
Nick Fury skipped the topic and continued, "Regarding Strange, we have currently locked onto all the people with this name, but have not found anything special. We can only continue to observe."
"And that 'one in fourteen million' chance?" Fury mused. "It's clear Strange knows how to win this war. More importantly, he has your trust, Tony. That's why you chose to sacrifice yourself without hesitation."
"And Natasha, exchanging souls for souls? We don't have any research on souls yet, but since The Screen said so, it proves that people definitely have souls. Natasha traded her soul with a certain being, so she can never come back..."
"Agent Barton went with her, but I guess they didn't know about the soul-exchange at first, otherwise Natasha wouldn't have to push Barton down and jump off the cliff."
"It happened suddenly, so Barton wanted to stop Natasha, or he wanted to exchange his soul, but failed to win over Natasha." Nick Fury's analysis caused everyone to nod repeatedly.
"Another point is that Banner has the body of the Hulk... I don't quite understand this. As far as I know, Dr. Banner can't control the big green monster. As long as he gets angry, he will turn into the Hulk, and at that time he is no longer himself, but a monster that can only destroy continuously."
"Come to think of it, it's a bit problematic. Maybe in the future Dr. Banner has learn to coexist or even control the Hulk?" Tony bit the tip of his pen, supported his head with his hand, and guessed while looking at the pager.
"We can't be sure about this for now, let's put it aside for now and..." Before Nick Fury finished his words, he saw someone walking towards the door.
A SHIELD agent knocked on the door, attracting everyone's attention. He glanced at everyone present and said, "Put it here." Nick Fury knocked on the table. He walked over, put the information on the table, and then walked out, closing the door.
"What's this?" Tony asked, leaning forward eagerly.
"We have found Bruce Banner's information and his current location"Natasha, I need you to bring him in," he said, passing the folder to her. "If anyone can handle the Hulk, it's you."
Since the Screen mention Bruce calling the Black Widow his beloved Natasha, the green monster couldn't possibly hurt her, right? Therefore, handing it over to Natasha was the best choice.
Natasha nodded, took the information and walked out. There was no time to lose, she had to bring Dr. Banner back as soon as possible to avoid any more trouble.
"What did you want to say just now?" Tony looked at Nick Fury.
"I mentioned the Avengers plan to you before, but you didn't agree at that time. But have you changed your mind now?" Nick Fury stared into Tony's eyes.
Tony Stark thought for a moment, "I agree to join, but to be clear, I will not serve the government, nor will I take orders from you."
Fury frowned, but he knew Tony's value, so he said, "I understand your position, but we need your skills and intelligence."
Tony shrugged. "I'll offer my expertise, but don't expect me to follow orders like a soldier. I'm an individual and I do things my own way."
Tony threw the pen on the table and stood up. "Okay, now that we are clear, let's get to work. But remember, I will only do what I think is right."
Tony left S.H.I.E.L.D. and decided to return home immediately to start making a new Ironman armor, although he had already successfully made a portable Mark V armor.
But he felt that this was not enough, he needed a stronger armor, and the ultimate goal was to be able to withstand unimaginable energy to ensure that he would not be killed by that 'huge energy' in the future!
He hadn't lived enough, he hadn't even given Pepper a home, how could he just die like this? Although he sacrificed himself to save the entire universe, he still didn't want to die if he could live.
