Chapter 235: Chapter 235: The Beginning of War
"Hello, everyone. I am Han Yu, the Grand Commander of the Green Lantern Corps. You are all top-tier talents in your respective fields. I believe your time at the Green Lantern base has given you systematic training, so you should already understand what it means to be chosen. Now, your task is to head beyond the atmosphere and prevent the enemy's massive thermal weapons from harming Earth, limiting their available forces as much as possible."
Han Yu addressed the assembled group. However, he did not instruct them to defeat the enemy outright. After all, the Green Lantern rings did not make them invincible. The only reason Han Yu could be considered invincible was his immense mental strength, allowing him to exert perfect control over the ring.
But for the people standing before him? That was impossible—or at least, not yet.
They had just joined the Green Lantern Corps and couldn't exert significant power yet. Thanos' army was advancing aggressively, and simply containing the enemy would already be a considerable achievement.
Han Yu never intended for them to charge in and annihilate the opposition. The Green Lantern Corps still needed time to grow. If they rushed in recklessly, they could end up suffering heavy losses instead.
He had no plans to recruit too many members—at most, two hundred. But each one of them would be an elite of the highest caliber. Within three years, every Green Lantern would be strong enough to dominate an entire planet with development similar to Earth's.
In the Nine Realms, Earth belonged to the human realm. To rule over even one realm single-handedly was an extraordinary feat.
If left to natural evolution, Earth wouldn't produce such individuals within the next thousand years. But Han Yu wasn't just building a military force—he was forging a disciplined, lethal organization.
Every member needed to possess immense power. With Han Yu's unlimited supply of Green Lantern energy, he planned to elevate them to sub-Skyfather level—on par with Thanos without any cosmic enhancements.
This was a terrifying prospect. Even without cosmic-level equipment, Thanos had been able to dominate the universe through sheer power and technology. If the Green Lantern Corps, whose technological prowess far surpassed most civilizations in the cosmos, reached that level—just how powerful would they become?
After issuing his orders, the Green Lantern Corps members took off, soaring into the atmosphere as instructed.
They were truly astonished by Han Yu's age. Some had even underestimated him because of it. However, they were rational people. Now was not the time for petty grievances—whatever doubts they had could wait until after the battle.
In the skies above…
Countless streaks of fire rained down, converging at a single point before crashing onto the outskirts of Wakanda.
A dozen massive, inverted trapezoidal warships descended from the sky. The moment they touched the ground, hordes of alien beasts poured out.
"Activate the shield!"
King T'Chaka's voice rang out sharply. Immediately, a spherical energy barrier rose from the edges of Wakanda, enveloping the entire city.
Some enemy ships that plummeted from the sky collided with the shield, shattering into pieces upon impact.
Wakanda had poured immense effort into developing this defense system. It wasn't an exaggeration to say that its protective strength could withstand any known nuclear attack. On Earth, it was essentially impenetrable.
Even in the vast cosmos, where advanced civilizations thrived, nuclear technology was still no trivial matter. For now, even Thanos' fleet lacked the firepower to breach Wakanda's shield.
Beyond Earth's atmosphere…
The Green Lantern Corps had arrived, surrounding the two colossal enemy warships. Yet, none of them launched an attack. Even when the warships fired upon them, they merely focused on defense.
However, whenever the enemy attempted to deploy creatures to wreak havoc elsewhere on Earth, Green Lantern members immediately intercepted them, taking down any invaders the moment they stepped off their ships.
Although they couldn't take down the two massive warships, handling the smaller airships beneath them was an easy task for just two Green Lantern members.
As soon as Wakanda's protective shield was deployed, the alien creatures that had already landed on Earth began their assault.
The Wakandan warriors, who had long been prepared for battle, charged forward with battle cries, showing no fear even when faced with the snarling, ferocious monsters.
"Maintain formation! Keep the entrance secured at sector C-37! Don't let these creatures flank us!"
T'Chaka had also joined the fight, clad in his Black Panther combat suit forged from vibranium. The impact of the raging beasts barely fazed him.
His resilience was partly due to his vibranium armor, but he also owed his enhanced physique to a special Wakandan herb—the Heart-Shaped Herb—which had granted him superhuman abilities.
From the distance, missiles streaked through the air, striking the invading creatures, leaving some dead and others severely wounded.
Everyone turned their heads—Captain America and the Avengers had arrived, reinforcing the battlefield and significantly easing the pressure on Wakanda's defenses.
During the battle, while blasting away alien monsters with his repulsors, Stark found a moment to ask, "Where's Han Yu?"
Ultron, effortlessly tearing apart an alien beast, tilted his head toward the distant sky where the warships hovered. "Up there. These small fries don't require his attention—he's dealing with the boss."
In the sky…
Han Yu weaved effortlessly through a barrage of laser fire. He did not dodge—instead, he flew straight into the storm of attacks.
Upon closer observation, one would notice that the massive laser blasts, each with a diameter of two to three meters, would disintegrate into nothingness a hundred meters before reaching him. Yet, there was no visible Green Lantern energy surrounding his body.
"Ever since reaching a singular-universe level, my control over the Green Lantern ring has become even stronger," Han Yu murmured to himself.
Now, he no longer needed to release Green Lantern energy to envelop his body for flight—he could fly freely. The divine power within him, at a singular-universe level, was more than enough to enable such feats.
The incoming attacks felt no more threatening than water from a cheap squirt gun—they couldn't even pierce the energy field surrounding him, let alone harm him.
His path through the battlefield was completely unobstructed. Tapping into the power of the Cosmic Heart, Han Yu pinpointed Thanos' exact location and flew straight toward him.
What was strange, however, was that there were no guards stationed around Thanos' position. The entire area was left completely unguarded.
"Does he think it's unnecessary?"
Han Yu muttered to himself. At his current level of power, he could stand still and let them attack for a hundred, a thousand, even ten thousand years, and they still wouldn't be able to kill him. Their firepower was laughable—perhaps that's why Thanos had simply chosen not to deploy it.
When Han Yu finally reached Thanos, the scene before him was somewhat unexpected.
It was a desolate courtyard.
The setup was simple—a withered old tree stood in the center, with only a few fragile leaves clinging to its branches, ready to fall at the slightest breeze.
Beneath the tree was a lone table. Thanos sat before it, flipping through the pages of a book.
The courtyard was eerily silent, with only the occasional sound of Thanos turning a page breaking the stillness.
