Magic Era: The great Dungeon

Chapter 9: Survival test

Nim headed straight to the guild, even though it was still a while before the appointed time, he wanted to arrive early.

On the way he looked at the small hustle and bustle of the city, even though it was so early there were people coming and going.

Observing this he arrived near the guild and as usual many adventurers came and went, Nim entered and went to the reception, luckily, he did not have to wait long.

-Good morning, I came to take the adventurer test- Nim takes out a card and shows it to the receptionist.

The receptionist, upon seeing the card, receives it and verifies its authenticity.

-Okay, there are still 30 minutes left to start the test- After saying that the receptionist gets up and guides Nim to another room.

The guild was extremely large, there were many training rooms as well as other rooms for other uses.

Upon entering a training room they see a middle-aged man standing in a corner of the room, and there were two more people in another corner, apparently he was not the only one who had arrived early.

The man had a serious face and some cuts on his face, at first glance one could tell that he was a veteran adventurer.

-He is the instructor for the test- The receptionist introduces the man, after saying that the receptionist leaves.

The room was very spacious so Nim took a corner and waited patiently.

Over the course of the half hour more people had arrived, until in total, with Nim included, there were sixteen participants.

-It's time- the instructor looked at an hourglass he had in his hand and declared out loud.

The next moment he approaches a wall and seems to touch something when the wall briefly glows and then becomes transparent.

Nim who was watching from the side is surprised by the transformation of the wall, it was the first time he saw this strange magic.

- That's where the test will be - the instructor points to the picture on the wall, everyone approaches and sees a large battle arena with seats around it.

In the room they were in, they could see the entire stadium at a glance.

-Follow me- the instructor touches the wall again and a door appears that leads to the stadium, Nim and the other participants follow him.

After going down the stairs they reach the battle arena.

-Listen carefully, I'm going to explain what the test consists of

The instructor begins to explain and everyone falls silent, this time's test was going to be one of survival, in the battle arena monsters that the guild had captured in advance were going to come out.

The requirement to be able to pass the test was to endure the designated time while facing the monsters.

As long as you manage the allotted time you would pass the test.

It seemed pretty simple, but all the participants except Nim, made worried faces.

Not everyone was sure if they could pass this test.

-Everyone listen up, the dungeon is not a place that anyone can enter, if you can't even pass this test you better give up - The instructor knew that many wanted to be adventurers, but he knew how scary this could be, especially the higher floors.

If they couldn't pass this simple survival test, they would only be wasting their lives if they wanted to enter the dungeon.

With all that said, the instructor pointed to a random participant and called him to the front.

The participant, upon being chosen to be the first, put on a nervous expression.

-Very well, we will start with you, you must endure the total time of this hourglass- the instructor continues- everyone wait your turn outside the arena-

Everyone leaves the arena leaving only the first participant, the instructor watches attentively from a high place.

A few seconds later, some cells open in the battle arena, when they open, several monsters begin to come out along with the bestial sounds they produced.

There were three monsters in total, all of them wearing collars, these collars were to be able to control them and stop them if the participant faced danger.

The participant in the arena, observes the outgoing monsters and puts on a serious expression, the three monsters could not be considered very strong but they were not weak either, if they were in the dungeon these monsters would be from the 3rd floor at most, with his level 9 he could endure it and maybe kill one until time runs out.

He takes out a scimitar and begins to distance himself, he had decided to act cautiously and wait for an opportunity to attack the monsters at the vanguard, he had to be careful that the monsters would surround him.

After a bit of observation, he decides to attack a kobold, all the monsters were kobolds, but this one in particular was somewhat smaller.

As he quickly approaches and tries to attack the smaller kobold he is interrupted by the two kobolds, the two kobolds attack using their claws.

The participant dodges one kobold, but the second one brushes his clothes a little, causing them to tear a little.

The participant is surprised to see the sudden aggressive attitude of these two kobolds, apparently they were protecting the smaller kobold for some reason.

Thinking about that he decides to target the smaller kobold, with each attempt to attack the kobolds attack aggressively.

After two more attempts, he finally manages to break through the fence of the two kobolds, although he had been slightly injured by a claw, it did not hinder his movements.

Approaching, he tries to aim at a vital point when the smaller kobold glows slightly, or rather what was glowing was something in his palm, the next instant a fireball shoots out at the participant.

The participant who was very close is surprised by the sudden attack of magic and hits his chest.

Bang!

The participant is thrown out by the impact while he catches fire like a fireball.

The participant who was about to touch the ground is held by the instructor, who then extinguishes the participant's fire with a light.

The monsters that wanted to continue attacking are stopped by the slight glow of the collars that were on their necks, apparently these collars had the function of paralyzing them.

The participant who was being held by the instructor has a scorched wound on his chest, while his armor was burned and broken in some parts of his body.

A person without a level would have died from that attack.

-Instructor, I can continue...

-Rest, although you only have light burns on your body, you have to treat that wound on your chest, go to the healing room- the instructor cuts off the participant's words.

The participant puts on a bitter face, he knew he had not passed the test, although thanks to his level 9 his body was more resistant and recovered faster, he would still have to heal properly.

Getting up he slowly heads to the exit, he has to find the healing room quickly.

When all this is over, the instructor looks at all the participants again.

-As you can see, things like this can happen at any time when you explore the dungeon, if the previous participant had been in that situation in the dungeon he would already be dead.

Everyone listened with a serious expression to the instructor's words, they had seen how the first participant was injured by a sudden attack of magic, no one could have foreseen that that little kobold was a wizard.

-Very well, we will continue with the test

The instructor chooses a participant again, the latter begins to descend until reaching the arena.

Upon arriving, he seriously observes the three paralyzed kobolds, especially that little kobold.

With the experience from the previous battle, he could achieve a good result as long as he is careful with this little kobold.
