Magic Era: The great Dungeon

Chapter 10: Passing the test

Time passed and five people had already participated, among those people only two had managed to pass the test.

Although the other three participants who failed the test had acted cautiously, they were cornered during the course of the fight and soon found themselves in a dangerous situation, as a result the instructor intervened.

....

It was time to choose the sixth participant, the instructor sees a young man in a corner and calls him to the arena.

The young man upon being called quickly goes down to the arena, the young man in the arena looks at the three monsters with an excited expression, this young man was Nim.

Nim who was now in the arena takes his sword out of its sheath.

The instructor seeing the participant ready, puts the counter back on and lifts the restriction on the monsters.

The kobolds upon regaining their movement, attack the person in front of them again.

Nim observes the monsters calmly, he had watched these five previous battles carefully, it is true that the small kobold could use magic.

But in the previous battles he also attacked physically, along with being able to use magic at any time, the previous participants had had difficult times.

Nim seeing the incoming attack of a kobold, moves to the side and dodges the kobold's claw, the second kobold that was at his side also attacks and aims for his head.

Whosh

Nim crouches and the attack fails to hit, these attacks were not fast enough to reach him.

Nim who was crouching against the second kobold, makes a cut with his sword from the angle he is.

The kobold not expecting the quick counterattack is wounded by a large cut that goes from his waist to his chest.

The instructor who was watching everything opens his eyes with some surprise.

(This boy is strong)

In the previous battles the kobolds had only been wounded superficially because the blows they received were not strong enough to seriously injure them, and also because not all of them could counterattack the continuous attacks of the kobolds.

This was the first time that a kobold was seriously injured.

The instructor comes out of his thoughts and returns to concentrate on the battle that is taking place.

Nim who had injured the kobold does not show surprise at his attack, he had not even used all his strength, if he had he would have split the kobold in two.

Since he had decided not to draw attention, he had held back.

The kobold upon receiving a serious wound howls in anger and pain as he tries to attack again, the other kobold also attacks again.

Nim retreats while also concentrating on the smaller kobold, he had not forgotten about it.

The kobold wizard, seeing the human being attacked by his kind, begins to gather magic in his claws again. After a few moments, a light begins to form, it was the fire spell.

The kobold wizard, seeing the spell gathered, looks back at the battle to cast it at the human. When he looks up, he sees the human right in front of him, while he cuts his claw where his spell was.

The claw is cut and separated from the kobold's body. The spell that was not completed falls along with the claw.

Nim, who had cut the claw of the wizard kobold, feels something and quickly moves away. The next moment the cut claw that had not yet fallen to the ground explodes.

Boom

Nim, who had dodged that explosion, looks somewhat confused at this situation. He did not know that a spell would have that strange reaction even when it was not completed.

The wizard kobold who could not get away from the explosion in time has smoke coming out of his body. He had not died from that attack but he was still in a lot of pain from the explosion.

The two largest kobolds approach Nim again and begin to attack him again. A few seconds ago, for just a moment, they had lost sight of the human, only to find that he had injured another of his species.

Nim, when attacked again, begins to dodge without much effort. After a few rounds of attacks, he notices that the kobold he had injured in the chest is slower. He had lost blood in the course of the battle.

Realizing this, he thinks about whether it is a good idea to deal him a final blow.

At that moment, Nim, as if he had eyes in his back, jumps and dodges the claw attack of the kobold mage.

This kobold mage had taken advantage to attack him from behind.

After dodging, Nim looks at this cunning kobold mage and smiles (I'll start with you).

The kobold mage, seeing the hostile look of the human, tries to get away and hide behind his own kind.

When he tries to take a step, he feels a pain in his leg, after that pain he falls to the ground unable to stand.

When the kobold mage falls, he realizes that one of his legs has been cut off while he bleeds constantly.

The kobold begins to roar in pain when the kobold's sounds are abruptly stopped by a sword embedded in his throat.

The kobold, receiving such a serious wound and losing a lot of blood, slowly begins to stay still until he stops moving.

Nim, seeing that the kobold mage died, draws his sword from the corpse, with a twist of his sword the blood splashes to the ground.

The two remaining kobolds, seeing their dead species companion, roar in anger and begin to approach madly.

Nim, seeing these two companions coming, puts on a chilling smile.

-Enough

Upon hearing the instructor's scream, the two remaining kobolds are paralyzed by the collar.

The instructor comes down and calmly observes the bloody scene of the kobold's corpse.

(This brat...) had seen the battle from beginning to end and at first he had only noticed that the young man was strong for his age.

But in the course of the battle it seemed that the young man became even stronger than he was at the beginning, that seemed strange to him and the only logical answer he found was that this young man had been holding back.

Then as he continued fighting he noticed something else, something that surprised him quite a bit.

This young man was playing with the kobolds, like a predator playing with its prey, this statement made him realize that this young man had a dangerous personality.

- Boy, what is your name? - the instructor asks Nim.

Nim says his name while he notices the strange look that the instructor gave him.

(It seems that I got carried away)

Nim, who had decided not to call attention, had failed to show more of his strength, Nim was aware that he had that strange peculiarity when fighting, that emotion for the battle that made him bloodthirsty.

But he could not avoid it since it was something part of his being.

- Nim.., congratulations you passed the test, now wait in the seats with the other trainees- the instructor declares while calling the staff to take out the corpse of the kobold, while they replenish it with a new monster, in addition the wounded kobold had to be changed for another.

Nim, after passing the test, puts on a big smile and leaves the arena. Now he just had to wait until he received his ID card.

As he approached the seats, the other participants who had not had their turn gave him strange looks, some with surprise and others with some fear.

Even the two people who had passed the test were no exception.

Nim, who felt those looks, ignored them. He knew that his battle had been too striking and since he couldn't do anything about the opinion of the others, he didn't think about it any further.

Besides, now he was only thinking about finishing the tests so he could officially become an adventurer.
