72 – Joshua 8:9
Joshua 8:9
So Joshua sent them out. And they went to the place of ambush and lay between Bethel and Ai, to the west of Ai, but Joshua spent that night among the people.
In front of the large water fountain that was at the very centre of the USJ the air distorted unnaturally slowly forming a dark shadowy portal.
Shota looked alarmed at the sudden change. This wasn't part of the class and he wasn't aware of anyone with such a Quirk amongst the student body or U.A. staff.
He immediately sprang into action. “Gather together and don’t move!” he ordered.
The class finally started realising something was wrong and that this wasn't part of the planned training. They weren't sure what to do and most just looked around aimlessly trying to figure out what was going on. Most at least listened to Shota's order and got closer to the other classmates.
“Thirteen, protect the students!” Shota said.
Anan nodded readying herself for whatever may come.
James pulled Toru in closer and handed her a mobile phone. "Take off what's left of your costume and use your invisibility to sneak out. Once you are able to get a good cell signal call reinforcements from U.A. Preferably All Might if possible. He should at least already be on his way since he was supposed to be here, but every second counts," he whispered to her.
The phone was a high performance dual satellite and cellular phone meant for people travelling out in remote nature such as mountains and forest. Despite it being optimised to get a signal even in the worst of situations even it wasn't able to get any signal around the USJ dome due to whatever was being used to interfere with all the other communication methods. He had brought it for just this reason though.
She looked surprised for a moment, but quickly understood what he meant. She decided to trust him and did as he said. No one even noticed due to the commotion.
Eijiro finally noticed the portal. “What’s that?” he asked out of curiosity.
While everyone's attention was captured by the huge portal a strange grey haired kid with bloodshot eyes and decapitated hands attached all over his body, face and head walked out of it. He was hunched over and didn't look completely sane from the way he was moving and the look in his eyes.
Following not far after him were a bunch of people with mutant quirks that had seriously deformed and contorted their bodies in various inhuman ways.
Himiko and Momo looked at him with a bit of surprise in their eyes. They knew he wasn't lying, but they didn't expect something this serious to happen either. James nodded at them seriously and they made sure to stay as close as possible to him. He was already prepared and extended the batons he brought ready to react to whatever might happen.
“Is this like the entrance exam where the lesson’s already started?” Eijiro wondered out loud, trying to get a better look at what was happening.
“Don’t move!” Shota warned him again.
Shota put on his goggles that were part of his hero costume.
“Those are villains,” he warned shocking the entire class.
Some of the other girls like Tsuyu, Mina and even Ibara got closer too. Subconsciously they felt it was safer to be near him after seeing his performance in the entrance exam and classes. His posture and gaze which oozed confidence in himself as if he was sure he was going to make it out of there just fine. This only made them more sure of their decision.
The only one that had shown a more powerful offence than him so far was Izuku and let's say despite that his performance hadn't really inspired confidence. Sure he might be able to make one big attack, but then it was over and who would protect them from the other villains?
Maybe Shoto was another contender, but he looked just as confused as the rest of the class not really inspiring the same confidence in them.
James exchanged glances with the girls. "No matter what happen try to stick close to me and only fight if you have to, your first priority should be to escape to safety," he said.
He got a few unsure nods, the only ones that seemed confident about what he was saying were Himiko and Momo. Himiko even looked a little excited. Maybe a little too excited. Although she was better than she was in the show she still had a liking for blood simply due to her Quirk after all.
Lastly a huge mountain of muscle with a head that looked more like some kind of beast’s snout than a human walked out of the portal. Its brain was completely exposed, it had dark blue-ish skin, and was even bigger than All Might in his buffed up form.
There it finally was a Nomu. An artificial creature created from corpses heavily modified to be able to hold multiple Quirks and reanimated to act as mindless super-soldiers for the League of Villains at All For One's request. It no longer looked like the human it once was and all that remained was a vaguely humanoid monster. This one in particular created to defeat All Might. Even if it didn't end up able to defeat All Might it was still powerful enough to crush most of the people there with a simple swing of its arm.
It seemed everyone who was going to come had come since the portal shrunk and condensed eventually taking a shadowy humanoid shape with flowing yellow eyes instead.
"Thirteen and Eraserhead, huh? The teacher's schedule we received the other day said that All Might was also supposed to be here," he said.
Most of the other classmates were stunned and had no idea what to do. Should they fight? Should they run? They were in the middle of an U.A. affiliated facility. Never would they have expected to encounter villains here, let alone so many of them.
