Chapter 13: Planting Vegetables

“Hmm? So there’s someone here.”

Raising an eyebrow with a scrutinizing gaze, Ye Ze, stepping on the lion’s head, looked down at Wei Man. After confirming that the other party wasn’t a dangerous individual, he tossed it aside and ignored it.

Although he had said he would broaden the little snake sub-beast’s horizons, a giant lion covered in blood wasn’t something fun. He needed to handle it in advance; otherwise, what if it scared the little snake sub-beast?

Ye Ze began to prepare for the lion’s corpse makeover project.

However, Wei Man obviously wasn’t someone with discernment. Being spoiled since childhood as a sub-beast, for the first time encountering a beastman that interested him, he only had the obsession to catch the person in his hands.

When he first got up, he hesitated to approach due to the bloodstains around and the grim appearance of the lion. By the time Ye Ze finished beautifying it from head to toe, turning the man-eating lion into a sophisticated large doll, any trace of timidity disappeared.

He bombarded Ye Ze with questions, hoping to understand the other person’s situation and close the gap between them.

Ye Ze frowned. Originally very impatient, the silent transformation of a stranger reminded him.

If this cowardly and incompetent guy could accept it, the little snake sub-beast would definitely not be afraid!

The uncertainty in his mind, suddenly settled down, forgetting about the chattering voices beside him. Examining the clean and majestic giant lion before him, he pondered whether to add some flowers and grass as decoration to its glossy mane.

However, before he could take action, the little snake sub-beast arrived with the red thorn vines.

Clearly out of breath, he seemed not to have rested along the way.

Ye Ze sighed, feeling a bit helpless.

“Ye Zi, I’m here!” The little snake sub-beast, oblivious to any fatigue, greeted him cheerfully. Upon seeing the mountain-like lion, he let out a soft and cute exclamation, as if he had accomplished something extraordinary.

The man’s vanity received maximum satisfaction.

Wei Man watched as the iceberg-like expression that had faced him for most of the time melted in an instant, replaced by a gentle smile. He frowned, feeling a sense of displeasure as if something of his own had been offended.

Taking a step to block the lion’s head that obstructed his view, he looked domineeringly at the newcomer.

“…Is it you?!” Wei Man stared at him in disbelief, his eyes scanning down to An Nuo’s snake tail, showing a disdainful and disgusted expression.

Thinking that only Ye Ze’s environment had added another person, An Nuo also stood still. After seeing Wei Man’s appearance, he instinctively stepped back, unwilling to approach. His golden eyes anxiously glanced towards Ye Ze but hesitated to make direct eye contact.

A look of unease as if wanting to protect himself by retreating into his shell.

A trace of coldness flashed in Ye Ze’s eyes, and an invisible force instantly pushed Wei Man away.

Not wanting the frightened little snake sub-beast to retreat further.

Then, he smiled and waved to the little snake sub-beast, “Nuo Nuo, come here. I’ll show you the big lion.”

In the blink of an eye, the person disappeared. The little snake sub-beast, surprised, opened his mouth wide, bewildered and helpless. It took a while before he slowly walked forward at the encouraging call from Ye Ze.

The next second, when he approached Ye Ze, he was enveloped in a warm embrace.

“Such a good child.” Ye Ze’s voice, carrying a smiling tone, transmitted from above, and his reliable hand rested on the little snake sub-beast’s head. Affectionate and natural, just as usual.

The little snake sub-beast blinked his eyes, snuggling a bit closer to the warm chest at his side. Finding that Ye Zi didn’t object, the tip of his tail couldn’t help but curl up.

Ye Zi was still Ye Zi.

Happy!

Receiving the little snake sub-beast’s reliance, Ye Ze chuckled. He rubbed the hair on the little snake sub-beast’s head, embracing him protectively. Circulating around the giant lion, Ye Ze said, “Nuo Nuo, take a look. Whatever you like, we’ll keep it.”

“Ah?” The little snake sub-beast looked up at him, his eyes round, like a kitten suddenly receiving a large and precious ball of yarn but not knowing how to play with it.

The precious materials from a level-six magical beast were actually available for him to choose. This exceeded the little snake sub-beast’s understanding.

The little snake sub-beast shook his head like a drum, determined to make Ye Zi understand: he wouldn’t accept something so expensive!

“Very well. This lion’s skin and mane are indeed pretty good. Let’s keep it as a rug!” Ye Ze pressed down the disobedient little head, making the final decision.

The little snake sub-beast: “…?”

He didn’t say he wanted these things!

Wei Man, targeted by Ye Ze, smashed into a distant thicket. Rubbing his sore body all over, he went crazy with anger.

The members of the hunting team returned to the collection area, only to be told that Wei Man had left and couldn’t be stopped. The atmosphere of the entire expedition instantly hit rock bottom, and under the tribe leader’s dark face, everyone felt nervous.

Now that they had successfully found Wei Man, although he seemed a bit miserable, at least there was no danger to his life. The Beastmen all heaved a sigh of relief.

“Go back? Impossible!” Wei Man screamed. Confirming that the other party was just an ordinary member of the hunting team, he arrogantly commanded, “I’m going to settle accounts with An Nuo right now! You all come with me!”

“An, An Nuo?” The Beastmen were stunned by Wei Man’s words.

“Ye Zi?” Sensing Ye Ze’s sudden overflow of joy, the little snake sub-beast tilted his head in confusion, not understanding.

“No problem.” Ye Ze took the opportunity to pinch the little snake sub-beast’s face that had approached his hand. Yeah, he had gained some flesh recently. He smiled and said, “Holding Nuo Nuo makes me happy.”

Liar! At the beginning, Ye Zi was not so happy!

The little snake bun puffed up his cheeks. He wanted to refute, but the soft-tempered little snake steamed bun hadn’t learned to protest yet.

Watching the obedient little snake sub-beast and recalling the tribal residents’ hostility towards the little snake sub-beast during previous encounters, Ye Ze felt uneasy.
