Level Up: Voidwalker

Chapter 291: One Step behind Us

Atlas and the women were fighting in the Void Realm as explosions erupted all over the jungle, as the Broodmaws and Kraxari. Amethyst and Nulia were in their monster forms and tore through the creatures.

Estelle, Grishna, Artemis, and Zena fought together as the blonde knight protected them from the Broodmaw's slashes. Atlas grinned before rushing forward and slicing through the creature's limbs.

'This is getting easier thanks to the girls,' he thought with an excited smile.

They came crashing down allowing his magic to end them with little effort, as that happened a Kraxari rushed out of the underbrush and started trying to attack him. Atlas blocked the sharp mandibles.

Sparks flew as his blades connected, his arms strained, but he quickly cast Void Wave that sent them flying all over the place. He quickly used Void Step to appear in the treetops above just before checking the monster's total.

'Going quick, the Broodmaws are nearly finished, but what other monsters will appear?' Atlas thought while blocking a giant ant creature.

His magic destroyed the Kraxari, sending it back to the Void Realm. Following that, he turned to Amethyst, who was soaring above the jungle just as a flying insect that slammed into her body ambushed her.

She let out a loud screech as her claws tore apart the monsters just before an explosion of purple fire washed over the others. Atlas was shocked, but he shook his head and scanned the newcomer.

Atlas chuckled at the description before using Void Blast against the ground, sending him flying into the sky, only to see a swarm of them. He quickly sent several Void Bombs at the creatures.

The azure projectiles sliced through the air and erupted when connecting with the monsters, sending their corpses plummeting from the sky. They vanished back into the realm just as Amethyst got ganged up on.

She tried to fight them off, but it was too much for her, causing Atlas to send her back to the real world before she felt pain. The next to fall was Nulia, as the remaining Broodmaws ambushed her from behind.

Following those two falling, the others were the next targets. He quickly jumped down and cut off a part of the horde, but they quickly lunged forward and overwhelmed him by surprise just after he sent the remaining women back.

Atlas woke up in the hotel room and saw Grishna standing by the device that orders stuff. ''Bring seven of everything,'' she said in a cheerful tone. ''Yes, we have the coin. Our husband will pay for it.''

The Orc woman turned with a playful wink, drawing laughter from the group just as Atlas rose to his feet, stretching his arms with a satisfied sigh. His gaze swept across the room, taking in the scene before him.

Amethyst and Artemis sat together, engrossed in a book, their heads closed as they quietly exchanged thoughts. Nearby, Estelle was patiently guiding Zena, the wolf woman, through a lesson, her gestures animated yet precise.

Lilith, in her Honey Badger form, was curled up into a tight ball beside him, her peaceful presence a comforting contrast to her usual fiery behavior. Across the room, Nulia sat in quiet meditation, perfectly still as she centered herself.

Following that, Atlas noticed Grishna was done with the order before turning around with a big smile that showed off her tusks, ''Dinner is ordered, it should take an hour to get here which gives me time to find a blacksmith to get something.''

''I'll come with you,'' he offered, causing Lilith to jump up in alarm.

This made everyone laugh as she scuttled toward him and climbed up his body before sitting on his shoulder. She licked his cheek as her voice echoed in his mind, 'You're not leaving me behind, Master.'

Atlas nodded and started stroking the little creature, who got overly excited, making the other women giggle when they saw her reaction. Following that, the others chose to stay behind, as it was cold outside.

''We'll wait for the food. Don't take too long, otherwise it will get cold,'' Estelle commented while looking up from her talk with Artemis.

Grishna grabbed his hand before pulling him out of the room after he said goodbye to the others. Amethyst shook her head while commenting, ''Those two will get into trouble while outside. Mark my words.''

Following that, the two of them laughed as the Orc woman dragged him outside with a big smile on her beautiful face. Once stepping into the cold air, Atlas wrapped a cloak around himself while shivering.

''It's so cold, I hate winter,'' he commented while watching a group of soldiers march by.

The young woman chuckled, slipping on a jumper and wrapping a cloak around herself. With a playful smile, she said, "Don't worry, I'll warm you up after our shopping trip."

Laughter filled the air as they made their way down the street. Grishna's keen green eyes scanned the crowd, searching for a blacksmith's shop. Atlas walked beside her, lost in thought, his gaze distant.

Suddenly, a cold feeling washed over him as more soldiers rushed by, their hurried steps sending a ripple of unease through the air. Something wasn't right, causing him to glance back as he questioned, ''Why are so many troops rushing around?''

''It's the council,'' she said with a frustrated sigh. ''They're a paranoid bunch. But if there's an attack, we'd be screwed.''

She paused, her sharp eyes spotting a blacksmith's shop nearby. ''Unless you can fly out of the city, that is. The soldiers have all the exits locked down.''

Atlas nodded just as stepped into the store and Grishna walked up to the counter before talking to the smith. He stayed at the entrance while watching the sky, but nothing happened, causing him to think, 'Am I just being paranoid?'

Following that, he walked up to the Orc woman who was buying a bag of metal balls that all blacksmiths sold. Once they were done, the duo stepped out but his heckles went up, causing him to cast Void Guard around them just as explosions erupted.

Grishna yelped in fright as Atlas grabbed her and transformed into his Voidwalker form. and kept the young woman safe inside. He started rushing through the city as clouds of green smoke rushed through Moonlit City's streets.

He watched as people dropped to the ground while choking, but thanks to being made from void mana. Atlas's azure eyes glowed as the downed citizens started rising while letting out a dread-filled moan.

'Zombies! What the fuck is going on here,' he thought while rushing toward the inn where the others were.

Minutes later, Atlas arrived on the balcony that was connected to their room. It was high enough to avoid the deadly smoke and when the two of them entered; they noticed the women readying to fight.

Moans came from the other side of the door that Nulia and Zena held shut. When Estelle saw them she revealed with horror-filled eyes, ''The empire is here! And they are using necromancers to flush us out.''

When Atlas heard this, he spoke in an annoyed tone, ''Damn Achaemendians, why are they always one step behind us?''

Just as those words left his lips, the door exploded inward, sending the women flying just as he readied his weapons. As a dust cloud erupted, Nightowls rushed into the room and started attacking them.

Estelle, Artemis, and Lilith reacted instantly alongside Amethyst, who cast Cosmic Blasts at the enemies. Nulia and Zena were trying to recover, but that's when Atlas realized they would soon be overwhelmed.

Without wasting time, he started sending the women to the Otherworld as the Nightowls circled him. Their blades gleamed in the dim light, but Atlas cast Void Infusion that coated his blades.

That's when he summoned Nala and Theo, who rushed out of the azure portal and caused utter chaos. The enemies scrambled to retaliate as the monsters tore into them with ease while Atlas started stabbing some.

He rushed toward the balcony and cast Void Bullet to break the door as he rushed through before jumping over the edge. Nala held off the Nightowls as Theo let out a chirp and quickly caught him.

'Hold on, master! They have flying monsters of their own!' the Blood Bat King's voice echoed in his mind.

The creature started flying around the buildings as a wave of mana shells hit the city, causing explosions. Atlas glanced around and it looked like hell as people were being attacked by the undead, while others fled.

As they neared the wall, a sudden, powerful blast struck Theo, sending him hurtling toward the ground. Atlas gritted his teeth, holding on tightly as they crashed into a square just to the west.
