Chapter 15: Changes
July 1994
4 Privet Drive
Two weeks later.
In these two weeks Harry had become a changed man. Gone was the boy cowering in fear and anxiety; there stood a man with determination and confidence.
The first and most important thing Harry had done was to go through the memories of Cadmus regarding the working of resurrection stone. He had hoped that he could communicate with his parents. He had wanted to feel their love even for once but all his hopes were for naught.
It was not that the resurrection stone could not summon the dead soul; but the summoning was not peaceful for the soul. Harry had not needed to do any in depth research. Cadmus in his memories had left a clear warning about the process. He had informed Harry that to summon a soul is not a good idea. The souls which have already crossed the veil are then settled as peaceful entities and asking them back would be painful process. Although it was only a theory as no one did actually knew what happens when one die; Harry chose to believe it. He ultimately concluded that calling his parents is not a good idea and no matter how much deeply he desired he let it go.
The second thing Harry did was to organise his mindscape. In these two weeks Harry had continuously absorbed the memories of three brothers and Voldemort. From their memories he also learned the art of occlumency and legilimency. His mindscape was completely different from what it used to be.
As soon as Harry entered his mindscape he was greeted by the site of humongous mountains and tall and lush green forests surrounding it.
The mindscape was almost double in size from the first time Harry had seen it and even the mountains and the trees were much larger in size. Harry also noticed that blue fog in his mindscape indicating his magic was much denser which meant that his magical capacity had also improved.
Harry concluded that this change was due the absorption of the memories of the Peverell brothers and Voldemort. He also arrived at a conclusion that not only he had absorbed their memories but also some their magic potential.
With a blink of his though Harry arrived in the same gorge in which the Peverell brothers had trapped Voldemort. During his practice with his mindscape, he discovered that as the brothers had informed, he could do anything here and that meant literally anything including teleportation.
The place where he teleported inside the gorge; there stood a gigantic castle in medieval style. That castle was the core of Harry's mindscape which housed all his memories. The castle was laced with large scale defensive measures including a huge number of mythic creatures. Fire breathing Dragons, large Acromantulas, basilisk, Nundus and Chimeras were least of your worries if someone actually reached even near the castle.
The mountains acted as large shield for the castle and the mountains too were laced with the very imaginative but dangerous defensive measures.
Harry had wondered that if anyone could do as they imagine in their mindscape, while creating his defensive measures.
The theoretical answer was; Yes, but in reality; No. Everyone's mind had a limit.
Beyond a certain point their mindscape and magic would not bear the stress from their imagination and would crumble down.
For an average wizard the size of their mindscape was even smaller than few creatures Harry had used, so how could they imagine such feats? Everyone's mindscape and the magic sustaining it had a certain limit and till this time Harry understood that his limit was insanely high especially after the absorption of memories and magic of 4 powerful people. Practically Harry could anything as longer as he had the imagination for it.
The next thing Harry discovered was his usage of the deathly hallows. He discovered that not only he owned the hallows and was connected to them but also that the hallows were a part of him.
For example, he did not need to actually take out the elder wand to cast magical spells he could so wandlessly with a mere thought. And this has been a major boon to him. Otherwise, he would have not been able the wand at all in public as Dumbledore would have recognised the wand in moments. And to Harry's relief his older Holly wand also worked just fine which he would use as his decoy.
Same was for his invisibility cloak. He had no actual need to summon the cloak and with mere his thought he could turn invisible.
The other thing which Harry was worried about his friends. With the recent revelations which had come to light he was not sure whether he could trust them or not. And the person he was most worried about was Ron Weasley.
He knew from the beginning that Ron Weasley was a jealous and narrow minded child and even so Harry had carried on their friendship for three years. After all Ron was Harry's first friend but now Harry was not sure. He wondered that if Weasleys were a part of Dumbledore's mechanism. He was sure his meeting with Weasleys during his first Hogwarts trips was no coincidence. After what reason an old pure blooded magical family would be having to use the muggle side of the station and that too shouting the location of platform 9 ¾, breaching the International statue of Secrecy. Molly Weasley had herself attended Hogwarts and then had sent 5 of her other children to Hogwarts; Ron being the sixth. She must have arrived at the platform for dozens of times and still why did Ginny of all people needed to shout about platform 9 ¾. Harry's only doubt was that whether the Weasleys were actually a part of Dumbledore manipulations or they themselves were manipulated by the old coot. And if it was the former then who among the Weasleys were the perpetrators and who were the innocent?
[ There will be one more chapter regarding the changes and then then story will move forward.]
