Chapter 6: 006 Leading Students
In the Hokage's office, Danzo was discussing something serious with the Third Hokage.
"Hiruzen, those techniques Simu used are quite powerful. I think it's necessary to talk to him," Danzo said.
Both Danzo and Hiruzen had sharper insights than most ninjas.
They immediately recognized the importance of Simu's moves, particularly the [Shaved] and [Finger Pistol] techniques he displayed during the battle.
If these techniques are easy to practice, they could greatly increase the overall combat effectiveness of Konoha's shinobi.
The Third Hokage bit down on his pipe and took a puff.
After a moment, he said, "I'll have someone look into it."
Seeing this, Danzo didn't say much. He knew his old friend already had a plan in mind.
"In that case, I'll take my leave," Danzo said before disappearing.
The Third Hokage turned slightly to look out the window.
"Come in, Jiraiya,"
"Haha," Jiraiya laughed sheepishly from outside.
His silver-white hair hung down, followed by his lewd grin as he leaned in through the window.
"Didn't I see you chatting with that guy Danzo, teacher, I'm sorry to disturb you."
At this time, Jiraiya was still very young, and the red tears in the corners of her eyes were not so long.
Third Hokage looked helplessly at his proud disciple.
"You're already a big name as one of the Konoha Sannin, but you still act so carelessly,"
Third Hokage criticized Jiraiya in dissatisfaction.
But Jiraiya naturally doesn't take it to heart.
He didn't know how many times the Third Hokage had criticized him since he was a child.
Quickly changing the subject, he asked, "Sensei, is there an S-rank mission that you need me for this time?"
Ninjas of their level, like Orochimaru and Jiraiya, wouldn't take on regular tasks.
Only S-rank missions require their involvement.
The Third Hokage shook his head and pushed a document toward Jiraiya.
"I brought you back this time to prepare you for leading students."
"Students?"
Jiraiya said, scratching his nose in confusion.
"I said teacher, you know my character, no matter how you look at it, it's not suitable for leading students, right?"
As soon as he said this, the Third Hokage's expression changed dramatically.
He snorted coldly, "You could teach students in the Land of Rain, but you can't lead students of Konoha now?"
Jiraiya fell silent for a moment, scratching his head in embarrassment.
The students the Third Hokage mentioned were Nagato, Yahiko, and Konan from the Land of Rain.
During the Second Shinobi World War, Jiraiya, Orochimaru, and Tsunade had fought countless enemies in that region.
In the final battle, Hanzō of the Salamander, known as the "Demigod," faced the Konoha Sannin.
However, Jiraiya, perhaps out of guilt toward the people of the Land of Rain, ended up taking in the three children they encountered along the way: Nagato, Yahiko, and Konan.
He even became their teacher, teaching them for several years.
At that time, Konoha was in need of manpower after the end of the Second Shinobi World War.
As a result, Jiraiya stayed in the Land of Rain for a few years, which understandably made the Third Hokage dissatisfied with him.
In his opinion, Jiraiya, an apprentice, has excellent fighting ability and has the same hobbies as himself.
But the shortcomings are still too obvious.
That is, it is easy to be trapped by emotions.
Such strong emotions often conflicted with the responsibilities of being a ninja.
To be an excellent ninja, one must treat themselves as a weapon and eliminate unnecessary emotions.
Otherwise, compassion can lead to greater harm for their country.
If Simu were present, he would definitely applaud and agree wholeheartedly with the Third Hokage.
If it weren't for Jiraiya, Konoha might have faced destruction decades later.
Jiraiya was rarely left speechless.
"Since your words make sense, I suppose I'll reluctantly take on the role of their teacher," he said, taking the file and carefully checking the student information inside.
Despite appearing to do nothing most days, Jiraiya's commitment was clear to see.
But once he agreed to this, he would take it seriously.
Understanding the background of his future students was part of being a responsible teacher.
"Uzumaki Kushina, Namikaze Minato, and Hanyu Simu?" Jiraiya frowned and scratched his head vigorously.
"If I remember correctly, isn't Kushina the Jinchūriki of the Nine-Tails?"
The Third Hokage nodded slightly and added, "Hanyu Simu and Namikaze Minato are the two most outstanding students in this assessment battle."
Jiraiya felt overwhelmed.
"Why did you arrange it this way?"
The Third Hokage tapped his pipe thoughtfully.
Jiraiya's meaning is obvious.
Since all three are geniuses, and one of them is the Nine-Tails Jinchūriki, shouldn't they be separated to prevent the enemy from killing them all together?
Why arrange them in the same team? If something goes wrong, the consequences could be severe.
"I want to form a team that is even more powerful than Hatake Sakumo"
"If successful, they will become Konoha's sharpest blades, striking at the enemy's heart. But if it fails..."
"A young leaf can't always stay in the shadow of a giant tree, can it?"
"And I believe in your strength, Jiraiya."
