Chapter 49: 049 Three Month Holiday with Full Payment!
Simu lay on the branch with his head in his hands, complaining,
"Oh, that old man wants to make us work again."
He wasn't keen on traveling and just wanted to relax in Konoha.
Minato glanced at him and said, "What are you worried about? You still have three months to prepare."
"True," Simu replied. It could be seen as a blessing in disguise.
To prepare for the Jōnin exam, Third Hokage gave Simu and the others a three-month break to train and focus on bringing glory to the village.
However, Simu bargained with him. He pointed out that without performing missions for three months, he wouldn't earn any money and would starve.
Third Hokage had no choice but to offer them a subsidized salary of 600,000 Ryo.
Simu then went out to complete two A-level missions, which made him quiet down for a while.
"Since we have three months to train, we can't waste it," Minato said, setting an example by starting his training.
After Kushina kissed Simu the night before, she seemed a bit shy around him today, but that was normal for her, still a little girl.
Simu decided to take it slow.
The only downside was that Lindy had gone on a mission after recovering from her injuries.
He had only managed to give her a phone bug but couldn't do much more.
However, it was also a good thing, as it allowed Simu to focus on building his relationship with Kushina.
When Kushina noticed Simu's gaze on her, she immediately raised her small fist.
Simu smiled softly and laid down to sleep.
He knew that with girls, sometimes it's best to play it cool. If he chased after her now, she might think he was too easy to handle.
But if he held back, she'd start to wonder and worry, which would only make her care more.
It was a way to keep her heart attached to him.
Simu, having been a master of both theory and emotions in his past life, knew that while you couldn't easily fool a mature woman, you could still win over a young girl.
With that thought in mind, he turned to Minato and asked, "Hey, Minato, what did you get from Third Hokage?"
Since he had been summoned to Shikotsu Forest at the time, he still didn't know what reward Minato had asked for.
Minato raised the scroll in his hand.
"I found a technique in the Book of Seals," Minato said.
"It's called the Flying Thunder God Technique."
Simu raised an eyebrow. "As expected of Minato, that's scary. It's an S-rank ninjutsu."
It seemed that, due to Simu's arrival, Minato had obtained the technique a little earlier than in the original timeline.
However, with Minato's talent, Simu knew it wouldn't take him long to master it.
Minato chuckled. If anyone else had said that, he might have thought it was just polite encouragement, but coming from Simu, it felt different.
After all, Minato himself is a relatively gentle and kind person.
This guy, with his terrifying light-speed movements, could probably pull off an S-rank ninjutsu with ease.
Was he really going to mention it like that?
Kushina, meanwhile, ignored Simu's antics.
She was focused on practicing the secret technique of the Uzumaki clan that had been passed down by her grandmother, Uzumaki Mito.
The Four Trigrams Sealing Technique!
While improving her strength, it also strengthened the seal on the Nine Tails.
In Hokage's office, the two advisors and Danzo were already in a heated argument with Hiruzen.
"I won't allow the Nine Tails Jinchūriki to take the Jōnin exam," Utatane Koharu said sternly.
They weren't as old as in the original timeline, but their stubbornness was just as strong as it would be more than 20 years later.
In their eyes, tailed beasts were unstable and dangerous humanoid weapons that required constant monitoring.
Allowing Kushina to be a ninja was already a risk.
Asking her to take the Jōnin exam was out of the question.
"Now that Kumo Shinobi knows Kushina is the Nine Tails Jinchūriki, you want her to take the Jōnin exam at this time? Isn't that just setting a trap for her?"
Mitokado Homura also disagreed with Hiruzen's plan.
Danzo remained silent, his thoughts unknown as he sat aside.
Hiruzen took a sip of tea, knowing full well why he had made the decision.
"First, the competition will be held in the neutral country of the Iron Country, not in Kumo Village."
He paused, then continued, "Also, I've heard that Kumo has found a way to control the Tailed Beast."
"If we only protect the Jinchūriki without letting her train and grow, the Tailed Beast will always remain a threat, not a strength for us!"
Hiruzen said firmly, showing a less conservative stance than usual.
"This time, I'll have Jiraiya and Tsunade lead the team. Nothing will go wrong," Hiruzen said confidently.
Danzo spoke up, "I suggest sending some of the Root members to the Iron Country as well."
Seeing Hiruzen's hesitation, Danzo added quietly, "Hiruzen, have you forgotten what happened with Kumo Shinobi last time?"
Hiruzen slowly closed his eyes and replied, "Yes."
