Kingdom: Hyou Ren

The bodies of Wei Infantrymen were thrown into the air as my officers jumped into the fold.

It had taken us less than 5 minutes to wipe out the cavalry, but in our hurry to do so, we had completely forgotten the Wei Infantry, but they hadn´t forgotten us.

The Qin Units, whom were split up by the wheel, were pounced on by said vanguard, and the disrupted formation had no way of resisting.

Especially those who were fighting the Wei Cavalry still stuck within their ranks, suffered heavily. Luckily, we had a lot of meat-shields between us, but they were quickly utterly decimated, and the Wei Infantry attacked us.

Its vanguard and the main army had kept the rifts and disruptions open. Which was not far behind, had also arrived. Joining the fold, and we were quickly suffering heavy losses.

Additionally, the Wei General had taken notice of our unit, since we halted the wheel. And we were therefore naturally targeted, which resulted in us taking on an experienced 2000 man unit. 

Again, we were in the middle of the fold. So I had no use for my cavalry, so I had 600 men, and 4 officers against 2000. 

And since the Hi Shin unit had gone for General Rin Ko, they wouldn't be backing us up anytime soon. 

Additionally, the only remaining General, whoever he was. Had been fucking useless, the man had thrown himself into combat and was stuck in a deadlock with another unit. 

However, that's when a messenger reached me. He carried the flag of a 2000-man unit nearby, his name was Kurodan Genji. A servant, if I was correct, he led the Kokuda Tai Unit. A mediocre 2000 man unit. 

"Commander Hyou Ren, my commander Kurodan Genji wishes to discuss potential plans with you." He said, and my eyes widened. What?

Was this man suggesting we work together? 

Well, that might actually work. Hmmm, it's not a bad idea. 

"Very good, lead me to him." I said, before informing one of my messengers to call Kaen back to command our unit, as I headed behind the messenger.

If this man could work with us, it might alleviate some pressure. 

He was formed up right beside us, and as such it took less than 2 minutes for us to reach them, now I did expect some morale loss by me leaving. But Kaen would likely deal with it soon enough, and since it was a Qin messenger, I hoped it'd work out.

Once I spotted the man, I couldn´t help but sigh. He was old, to put it. He looked to be about in his mid-fifties, which wasn't the best age for a commander. Though he looked to be wise, and turned to me with a smile as I approached.

"Ah, Commander Kyou, thanks for coming." He said, though I could see a drop of sweat sliding down his forehead.

"Not to be blunt, Sir. But what have you called me here for?" I asked, and the man smiled even more. 

"Well, I am in a precarious situation, you see. I am nearing the age of 54, and I have lost almost all of my combat ability. And even with my experience and wisdom, I cannot come up with a suitable strategy, I am similar to General Mou Gou in that regard." He said, but before I could respond. He sighed. 

"My unit was demolished half a year ago, during a confrontation with Zhao. My new units are all recruits, and I cannot inspire them anymore. Therefore, if you'd accept, I´d like to place myself under your command." He said, as my eyes widened. My mind almost short-circuited.

This is new, for a Commander who has likely fought for over 3 decades. Wants to put himself under the command of a 17-year-old, who has fought for less than a year, and studied for a few more years. 

That didn´t quite make sense.

"I see that you are shocked, but I have seen your unit fight. You have five powerhouses, and your mind is exceptionally strong. I am nearing the age at which I desire to retire as, and I have served your father many times. And he has never let me down, therefore I wish to serve you as well, if you'd have me." He said, and my mind slowly got around it.

I suppose that's either pure luck, pure skill or both. Perhaps more luck, but either way. I won't complain.

"Of course, give me a report on your unit." I said, and the man nodded.

"I currently have 1500 troops, all of whom are on foot. I have spent quite the personal fortune to have them all armoured, and they should be slightly lower than the Qin standards. Luckily the 1000 man unit in front of us has held on, so we have yet to suffer any casualties." He said, and I smiled.

Perfect, a rested and prepared force. Won't get any better. 

Ok so, if my own intelligence is correct, he should be facing a 3000-Man Unit, and looking at them. They're also mostly recruits, however.

My eyes found the appearance of a large, bulky man fighting upfront, decimating the front ranks of the men in front of us. 

I also saw the Commander approaching him, for a duel. 

He´d need to be dealt with, he's inspiring his men. They're not fighting with the vigour of recruits, but elite soldiers. 

"Hmm, alright. So, I'm facing 2000 elites, with only 600. So, I´ll need you to transfer 700 of your most rested men to my battlefield, and I´ll send mine to yours, we´ll deal with this Battlefield first." I said, and Genji nodded resolutely.

"Understood, I´ll get at it." He said, as he began shouting orders.

Meanwhile, I turned around and headed back to my unit. 

I quickly reached it, whereas Kaen was shouting orders, while the other 4 were still in the frontlines, fighting for their life. 

"Kaen, listen up." I said, as I rode up to the man.

"Another 2000 Man Commander has willingly put himself under us, he's under our command and we´ll use him to turn our Battlefield around." I said, and Kaen nodded, shocked at the start. But quickly got over it.

"He's sending 500 men to us, and we´ll switch them out for our elites, his 1500 men are made out of recruits entirely." I said, and Kaen kept silent.

"Prepare to move them to the other Battlefield, and inform Ishiro, Roku, and Tetsuji that they'll join them, you'll remain here with Mozu. We´ll hold the 2000 men off with only 500 till Ishiro can deal with the other force." I said, and Kaen nodded. Agreeing with the strategy, which was great. 

"Alright, begin preparing the troops. We´ll need to be quick." I said, and he quickly got to work.
