Kalos Chronicles: The Rewritten Story

Chapter 3: Episode 2: The Peace before the storm

Tom—still adjusting to life in Ash's body—sat at Professor Sycamore's lab, his hands clasped around a mug of tea Bonnie had enthusiastically handed him. Pikachu was perched beside him, nibbling on a berry Sycamore had provided. Clemont and Bonnie sat nearby, animatedly discussing their future plans, while Sycamore busied himself at a computer terminal.

Tom's thoughts drifted as he tried to piece together his next move. Meeting Clemont and Bonnie had gone better than expected, but he still felt out of sync. If I'm supposed to be Ash he thought, I can't let anyone suspect I'm not. At least not yet.

"Earth to Ash!" Bonnie's cheerful voice snapped him out of his thoughts.

"Huh? Oh, sorry," Tom replied, giving her an apologetic smile.

"You're really distracted, aren't you?" she asked, tilting her head. "Is something on your mind?"

Before Tom could answer, Sycamore turned from his monitor. "I've finished examining the Spewpa you brought in. It's recovering nicely, thanks to your quick thinking, Ash."

Tom nodded, grateful for the update. "That's good to hear."

Clemont adjusted his glasses, his voice thoughtful. "It's not every day you see someone jump into action like that. A lot of Trainers would've hesitated."

Bonnie grinned. "Ash was awesome! Pikachu, too!"

"Pika-pika!" Pikachu chirped, puffing out its chest proudly.

Sycamore smiled. "Ash, you're clearly someone who cares deeply for Pokémon. It's Trainers like you who inspire others to do better."

"Professor," Ash said after a pause, "could I use your phone? I need to make a call."

"Of course," Sycamore replied, pointing him toward a console.

Ash dialed Professor Oak's lab, feeling Pikachu's curious eyes on him. The screen lit up, and Oak appeared with a warm smile.

"Ash! What a pleasant surprise. How's Kalos treating you?"

Ash smiled. "It's great so far, Professor. I wanted to ask if you could send over Charizard."

Oak blinked. "Charizard? That's a bit early. Anything specific in mind?"

Ash shrugged, keeping his tone casual. "Just thought it'd be good to have him on the team."

Oak chuckled. "Fair enough. I'll send him to Sycamore's lab right away. Take good care of him."

"Thanks, Professor."

As the call ended, Ash leaned back with a sigh. Pikachu tilted its head, still watching him curiously. If that Garchomp incident happens, Charizard might be exactly what we need. But who knows? It might not even happen this time.

As Ash came back and he raised his eyebrow looking at the large Dragon Pokémon, standing tall near one of the lab's open habitats. Its sharp claws and sturdy build were a testament to its strength, but its calm demeanor reflected trust in its environment.

"She's incredible," Ash said, genuinely impressed. Pikachu chirped in agreement.

"That she gets alot but she is very caring even though she looks abit roughed up when you were gone she had come in to check on spewpa and also you can ask Bonnie here she was allowed to pet too" Sycamore told.

"Hmm is that true Bonnie?"Ash asked.

"Yes! you know she even bent down so that I can touch her forehead"Bonnie said clearly happy which showed how much she loved Pokemon.

Clemont asked as if suddenly remembering something "I heard you have been researching on Mega evoloution? What is it about?"

The question earned surprised glances from Ash and Bonnie. Ash, despite his internal knowledge as Tom, feigned ignorance. I know about Mega Evolution in theory, but acting like I don't will help me play Ash's role properly since a man coming newly to Kalos should not mostly have such information, he thought.

Sycamore launched into an explanation. "Mega Evolution is a temporary evolution that brings out the full potential of certain Pokémon. It requires a special bond between the trainer and their Pokémon, as well as a Mega Stone and a Key Stone."

Bonnie chimed in enthusiastically. "It's amazing, isn't it? Pokémon get super strong, and they look so cool!"

Clemont adjusted his glasses. "It's not just about power. Mega Evolution symbolizes the connection between Pokémon and trainer."

Ash nodded thoughtfully. So Clemont already knows about it. Makes sense seeing the way he framed the question what he most likely wanted to ask should have been the materials or inventions they use to study it,  he mused. If Garchomp's Mega Evolution research plays a role in what happened last time, maybe things could still go differently, that is if Team Rocket does not have info of Professor researching it or they are not overhearing us right now.

"Can u show us the instruments used for the research professor?"Clemont asked clearly interested in seeing new inventions.

"Oh!Of course Clemont thats the least I could do since I have already told my research purpose it seems that you verry much interested in mega evolution"the professor asked it could be seen from his face that he had genuine curiosity.

"Yes,you could tell it is something like that"Clemont told while scratching his head .The professor started guiding them towards the lab at Clemont's words his curiosity satiated.

Sycamore led the group on a tour, explaining the various aspects of his research. They passed habitats filled with Pokémon, saw data displays on Mega Evolution, and observed the assistants caring for the Pokémon.

Bonnie clung to her brother's arm. "This place is so cool! Clemont, why don't you make inventions like this?"

"Bonnie, it's not that simple!" Clemont protested. "This is a lab, not an invention workshop."

Ash chuckled, enjoying their dynamic. "Still, it's impressive you're an inventor. Got anything interesting to show?"

Clemont brightened at the question. "Actually, I do! But I'd need to set it up first."

Bonnie rolled her eyes. "Just make sure it doesn't blow up this time."

"Bonnie!" Clemont exclaimed, his face turning red.

The banter lightened the mood as they continued through the lab, with Garchomp occasionally glancing their way.

Team Rocket's Entry into Kalos

Team Rocket's journey to Kalos began with a routine mission briefing back at their headquarters. After their repeated failures in other regions, Giovanni decided it was time for them to explore opportunities in the Kalos region, known for its advanced research and rare Pokémon.

The Assignment

Giovanni sat at his desk, stroking his Persian as he reviewed reports about the mysterious phenomenon of Mega Evolution. Looking up at Jessie, James, and Meowth, who stood nervously before him, he spoke with calculated authority.

"Jessy and James," Giovanni began, "your incompetence in Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, and Unova has left much to be desired. However, Kalos offers a new frontier and a chance for redemption. It is home to advanced research on Pokémon evolution—especially Mega Evolution, which holds immense power. I want every detail about this phenomenon and any Pokémon that can undergo it. Bring me something worthwhile this time."

Jessie saluted dramatically. "Leave it to us, boss! We won't fail you this time!"

James added, "We'll uncover the secrets of Mega Evolution and bring you only the best Pokémon Kalos has to offer."

Meowth chimed in, "Yeah, this time, da twerps won't know what hit 'em!"

Giovanni gave them a final warning. "This is your last chance. Don't disappoint me."

Tracking Ash's Arrival in Kalos

Team Rocket arrived in Kalos aboard a passenger ship disguised as tourists. During their travel, they eavesdropped on conversations about notable trainers arriving in Lumiose City, including a young boy named Ash Ketchum from Pallet Town, who had a reputation for foiling their plans.

Using binoculars from a rooftop near Lumiose City's port, they spotted Ash disembarking with Pikachu on his shoulder. Jessie grinned. "Well, well, if it isn't the twerp. Seems like he's starting fresh in Kalos."

James nodded thoughtfully. "This could be the perfect opportunity to follow him and gather information. If he's here, he'll undoubtedly get involved in something big."

Meowth smirked. "And if history's taught us anythin', where da twerp goes, rare Pokémon and trouble follow!"

Devising a Plan

Over a hasty meal of baguettes and cheese in a dimly lit Kalos café, the trio brainstormed their approach. Jessie suggested shadowing Ash to see what opportunities might arise. James proposed leveraging Kalos' cutting-edge technology to improve their tools for capturing Pokémon. Meowth, ever resourceful, hacked into a local public database to pinpoint areas of Pokémon research, leading them straight to Professor Sycamore's lab.

"Bingo!" Meowth exclaimed. "Professor Sycamore's da guy who knows all about Mega Evolution. If we get close to him, we'll learn everything da boss wants."

Jessie leaned back in her chair, a sly grin spreading across her face. "Then it's settled. We'll infiltrate the lab, grab the research, and snag a few Pokémon while we're at it. All we need is the right disguise."

Spying on Ash

When Ash and his group arrived at Sycamore's lab, Team Rocket, dressed as construction workers, positioned themselves outside a nearby building under the guise of performing renovations. They observed Ash and his friends entering the lab.

"Hmm looks like we final found them we checked in the arena since he like battling but he was not there"Jessy said clearly furstrated at Ash and co for making them run around just to come in front of them when they were not being actively searched for.

"There he goes," James whispered, adjusting his hard hat. "The twerp's heading into the lab. This our chance to nab the garchomp and if we can nab pickachu also"

Jessie smirked confidently. "Time to put on our researcher disguises and work our magic. Let's go!"

Thus, they swapped their construction outfits for lab coats and approached the lab's entrance, setting the stage for their infiltration and the chaos that would follow.
