Disharmonied (211)
Kai was not unkowledgable on the topic of boss fights. It was common knowledge that they had multiple phases, that's just how they worked.
And Ezekial, he was definitely a boss fight. They were by far the toughest opponent Kai had ever faced, considering that Failure had been possessing him when he 'fought' the Demon and no other opponent really came close to them in terms of power.
Except for Ezekial.
While it may not have actually seemed like that hard of a fight, Kai was practically on the way out. Once he deactivated his boosting skills, he had no idea what would happen. All those backslashes hitting him all at once was bound to do something horrible, so he had to be mentally prepared.
But he couldn't exactly mentally prepare at this time as he had another thought in his mind.
What sort of bullshit is this?!
Ezekial had already gone through his last minute power up, those red aura arms, how could he possibly have another one in him when he had just been stabbed through the heart, fell off the roof of a castle and had a massive hole in his stomach?
Kai couldn't help but feel bitter.
Down below, Ezekial coughed up blood as he slowly crawled along the ground towards Castillian's corpse. There was a rat already down there, just about to dig into fresh King meet, but they quickly scurried away when they saw Ezekial approaching it.
Once they finally reached the paste that remained of Castillian, Ezekial tenderly reached out and clawed at the King's pale cheek. With a trembling hand, Ezekial shook the corpses head and croaked out:
"...Your Majesty?"
There was obviously no response.
So Ezekial tried something else.
"...Father?"
Still no response.
Ezekial lost it.
Suddenly, their body began to spasm violently as the most harrowing, most gut-wrenching, most ghastly cry escaped from their mouth. Blood began seeping out of Ezekial's eyes, joining the pool of deep red blood already under him.
Something began to move under their skin, like there had been something living inside him that was trying to break out.
Kai felt sick watching it, watching something crawl down Ezekial's neck.
"What... is that?"
The Plague Harbinger grunted.
"The Sword Man's body has to face the consequences of becoming Disharmonied."
Two horns shot out of the side of Ezekial's skull, a dull white, looking like they were made out of pure bone. The mass of Ezekial's body began to expand, like he was being pumped up like a human balloon.
His limbs began to twist at unnatural angles, his fingernails began to extend into claws.
The fabric of his ruined guard uniform began to stretch, threads of it ripping as it failed to contain Ezekial's monstrous body.
Ezekial's body continued to contort into something foreign, something Kai was sure that he didn't want to end up fighting.
Luckily, it seemed that he wouldn't have to.
The Plague Harbinger lifted a hand up and cracked their neck before grunting and jumping down from the exposed section of the castle they were on. They landed down on the ground with a thunderous crash, a cloud of dust surrounding them as they began to approach the transforming Ezekial.
"You, Human who helped me, you have three minutes to get out of here before I go all out. I will not pity you nor cry for you if I accidently kill you, so get out now, otherwise I will treat you like all the others."
Kai solemnly nodded. The beast had already helped Kai out, and now he would be the final distraction for his escape.
"Thank you."
The Plague Harbinger growled.
"Don't thank me, I'm doing this because I want to tear this horrible bastard limb from limb myself."
Then, they snarled and launched at the newly transformed Ezekial, not wanting to give it any time to get up.
Kai didn't wait to see the outcome of the fight, he instantly looked around and looked for the section where Castillian's and Anastasia's chambers would be. Soon enough, he spotted it, a tower that reached above any other section of the castle. Sadly, there was no windows on the outside of it, at least not that Kai could see, so he would have to go to the window under and ascend the stairs.
Activating Flight, Kai began to race to the windows, not wanting to stay in this Subdimension a second longer than needed.
However, even though he was in a rush, he left something where the Plague Harbibger and Ezekial were fighting, just in case. Maybe if it got the chance to act, something good would happen.
Speeding towards the window, Kai didn't care for a little damage as he didn't slow his momentum at all and crashed straight into it, covering himself in shards of glass as he collided with the wall in the hallway.
Groaning ever so slightly, he was shocked to hear the stifled scream of a woman to his left.
Lifting his head and looking through his one good eye, Kai saw-
"Cecilia?"
Cecilia had a trembling hand covering her mouth as she looked at the injured Kai. Tears threatened to well up in the corners of her eyes as she quickly scurried over to him.
"My Lord! What have you done to yourself?"
Kai chuckled weakly.
"I won, what else?"
Cecilia froze, but quickly composed herself as she crouched down in front of Kai. Tenderly, she reached out and ran her thumb over the swelling around Kai's eye.
Since her hand was so close, Kai noticed the brand new ring that was sitting on her finger. He grinned softly as he realised that she had also completed her mission, meaning that they were waiting on one, well, two more.
The feeling of Cecilia's hands on his face was actually quite soothing. Her hands were incredibly delicate and smooth, almost as if they were made using an incredibly fine fabric. The pain seemed to lessen a little wherever she touched, making Kai relax a little.
He also noticed that she had reverted back to calling him 'My Lord', she had probably only done so as she was panicked, but he was still a little upset.
Kai leaned back against the wall as Cecilia continued to touch all his visible wounds, as if examining him to see if he was in any danger, to which Kai could only laugh.
"If you think my face is bad, you should see under my armour."
Cecilia froze, making Kai realise that maybe those words might not exactly make a good joke.
"I'm joking, I'm sure that I'll be fine... probably."
Still looking worried, Cecilia made five potions appeared out of thin air, landing on the ground beside Kai. Four of them were red potions, only a little darker looking than the HP potions he was used to, and one of them was a mixture of red and blue, Kai didn't mean purple though, the liquid in the bottle was actually a mixture of red and blue.
"My Lord, drink these while we wait, please."
Kai sighed softly, picking up one of the bottles in the process. Before he drank it, he decided to examine it.
Average HP Potion
It was of a higher quality than the ones Kai used to drink, those ones were probably Low Tier HP Potions. He remembered being warned by Aldred that he couldn't drink potions meant for higher leveled beings, but that was based on stats, and Kai had more than enough to drink these.
He quickly downed the four HP potions before picking up the fifth and final one. This one was a little strange, considering that it was both red and blue, but the name of it promptly explained the reason.
Multi Potion
After reading the description of it, Kai realised that it restored both Mana and HP, which was quite handy.
It also made him even more pleased that he had given Cecilia this role.
To go over it all, Remy's role had been to act as Kai's guide and to free the Plague Harbinger.
Kai's role had been to create a distraction and hold back Ezekial.
And Cecilia's role...
Her role had been to raid the treasury of this castle during all the commotion and steal as much as she possibly could, that was where the ring came from, it was a spatial storage. What rarity, Kai had no idea, all Kai knew was that it had to have quite a few goodies in their.
As for Umbra's role, that was-
Suddenly, Kai heard the sound of a bark come from down the hall. Turning his head, he grinned as he saw a pitch black wolf trotting towards him.
He then looked up at the blonde haired girl that was sitting on top of the wolf. The amount of curls in her hair had diminished over the last month, a result of Ezekial neglecting her duties.
She was also wearing a white tunic made of fur. That was what Kai had placed on Umbra's back before he sent her out to get Petunia, that tunic would act as a sign of who sent the wolf as Petunia had seen Kai wear it when they first met.
After they got close enough, Kai softly pet Umbra as she nuzzled her head into Kai's chest. It was then he noticed that a small rat was clinging onto his familiar's tail, making Kai reach out his other hand as Remy hopped onto it and took a seat on Kai's shoulder.
Then, Kai looked at the blonde haired girl and said:
"Hey, Petunia."
Petunia wore a worried expression on her face, her lower lip trembling as she looked at the battered Kai, but she quickly turned to look away and responded with:
"You look terrible."
Kai chuckled weakly.
"I know."
He then groaned as he pushed himself up off the shards of glass he was sitting on. With a determined expression on his face, Kai took a deep breath and said:
"It's time to get out of here."
