K-Eldest Daughter Possessed a Childcare Novel

Ch. 1

“Damn it.”

The first words I uttered as soon as I realized I was in another body again were these.

Damn it, what a shitty world.

“To hell with it all, damn it.”

I covered my face with both hands, but there was no way to cover the harsh reality.

I gritted my teeth and sighed deeply.

My current name was Belladi Alton, aged sixteen.

Just a few hours ago, I had been living dutifully as the eldest daughter of the Alton Ducal House, and my late mother’s funeral had just ended yesterday.

‘But now I remember possessing a character from a novel.”

Did this make any sense? I had lived my entire life as Belladi, and now suddenly I possessed someone? How did that make any sense!

While I was writhing in agony on the bed, a knock came from outside the door.

“Lady Belladi. Are you awake? I’ve brought a simple breakfast.”

At the maid’s polite words, I closed my mouth for a moment before opening it with difficulty.

“Come in.”

With my permission, the door opened, and I heard the maids busily preparing.

I sat up and leaned my upper body against the headboard. Soon, breakfast was prepared on a wooden bed tray.

“I don’t need any service, so you can leave.”

“Yes, Lady Belladi. Please call us if you need anything.”

As the maids left, I gulped down a glass of cool water.

‘Well, no matter how absurd it is, I need to fill my stomach.’

I stabbed a piece of bacon with a rough fork and shoved it into my mouth. Then I held the glass that had contained the cold water against my eyes. My eyes were swollen from crying over my mother’s death for three days straight.

Still, the coolness against my eyes felt like it was reducing the stinging swelling a bit.

‘After I finish breakfast, I’ll have to ask for an ice pack.’

My body ached all over, so I’d have to ask for an essential oil massage too.

Thinking this far, I chuckled.

“How ridiculous.”

Ordering servants around so naturally. In my previous life, I couldn’t even imagine not doing things myself.

I diligently finished my breakfast and tried to sort out the situation.

This wasn’t the first time I was aware of possession.

The first time I realized it was a long time ago.

‘About 16 years ago from now…’

It was when I was a newborn baby, able to perfectly distinguish the colors of objects.

I could realize my possession back then because of my mother. My mother had silver hair and blue eyes, exactly as described in the novel.

Seeing her smile at me, I instantly had a feeling.

‘Oh, this is the world of the novel I was reading just before I died.’

The moment I realized it, I, still a baby, cried my heart out.

The concept of possession, the unfamiliar environment—it was too much to handle for my physically young self.

I cried so much that I couldn’t eat for several days, which worried my mother immensely. She cast a on me.

The Duchess of Alton, my mother and the adoptive mother of the original novel’s heroine, was a renowned sorceress and had a close relationship with the spirit of snow.

Thanks to the cast by my mother, I quickly found peace of mind.

‘As a side effect, I completely forgot my memories from before the possession.’

That was how I was able to return to being an ordinary baby. And I lived as until now…

Early this morning, the forgotten memories of my past life struck my mind.

‘Only after the death of my mother, who cast the magic…!’

Recovering my memories late wasn’t a huge issue. I was no longer a mere child, and having lived as Belladi, the environment didn’t feel unfamiliar.

‘… it shouldn’t have been a big issue, that is.’

“Why am I the eldest daughter?”

I clenched the fork I was holding tightly. The iron fork bent under the pressure of my grip, but I had no time to care.

I finished my meal irritably and rang the bell next to me. The door soon opened, and the maids entered.

Looking at them tidying up, I asked.

“Where is Father and Meldor?”

“The Duke is in his study, and the Little Duke is still asleep.”

Little Duke, my foot.

I snorted inwardly and spoke.

“Got it, you can leave.”

“What about your morning dressing?”

“I’m not doing it now, so get out.”

Sensing my foul mood, the maid respectfully left the room.

Once alone, I got out of bed and headed to the bathroom. Seeing my reflection in the luxurious mirror, I let out a deep sigh.

“No matter how I think about it, this isn’t an ordinary possession.”

In the mirror was my familiar appearance.

Dark black hair, ruby-red eyes. A face so attractive and seductive, even I admitted it, and a height far above my peers.

And above all, an immense aura of intimidation, even when my mouth was shut…

The face staring back at me looked exactly like the teenage version of my father, the Duke of Alton, as seen in photos.

‘For the past 16 years, I thought I just resembled my father.’

I recalled the contents of the novel which I possessed.

Roughly, it was a childcare story where a young female protagonist got adopted into a ducal family and learned spirit magic while being doted on by her father and brothers…

And this that I belonged to be the family that adopted the female protagonist. Nothing out of the ordinary here.

But the problem was…

“Why am I the eldest daughter…”

The position I possessed.

In other words, the eldest child of the Alton Ducal House was originally supposed to be a cold and charismatic who was exceptionally kind to the heroine.
