Chapter 6: Chapter 5: Home & Scott Mccall
Lucian followed Melissa out of the hospital and into the parking lot. She led him to a modest car, its backseat filled with grocery bags and a spare jacket. Melissa opened the driver's door and gestured for Lucian to get in the passenger seat.
"Ready?" she asked with a kind smile as she started the engine.
"Yeah," Lucian replied, settling in.
As the car rolled out of the parking lot, Lucian gazed out the window at the quiet streets of Beacon Hills. He decided it was the perfect time to test one of his new abilities. Closing his eyes, he focused inward, activating his Heavenly Understanding.
---
System Alert:
You have tapped into the concept of mental powers. Would you like to proceed with the creation of abilities related to mind control, memory reading, and telepathy?
---
"Yes," Lucian thought, his mind already brimming with possibilities.
---
Congratulations! You have awakened the following mental abilities:
Mind Control: Influence the thoughts and actions of others.
Mind/Memory Reading: Access the memories and thoughts of individuals.
Telepathy: Communicate directly through thoughts.
Abilities have been added to your skillset.
---
Lucian opened his eyes and smiled, glancing at the new entries in his stats. The powers were listed in the Abilities column, under a new section labeled Mental Powers. Excited, he decided to experiment.
Melissa was humming along to a song on the radio, not oblivious to his internal developments.
Let's start small, Lucian thought. He focused on Melissa and activated Telepathy.
"Melissa, can you hear me?" he thought, directing the message toward her mind.
Melissa turned her head slightly, her brows furrowing. "Did you say something?"
"No, I think you have misheard"Lucian grinned. It works! He decided not to push further, not wanting to alarm her. Instead, he tried accessing her surface thoughts. Images of Scott flashed through her mind—her worry about his grades and his tendency to leave his lacrosse gear everywhere.
Satisfied, Lucian leaned back and practiced the nuances of his abilities, ensuring he could use them with precision. By the time they reached Melissa's house, he felt confident in his new skills.
Arriving Home
The car pulled into the driveway of a cozy two-story house with a neatly trimmed lawn. Melissa turned off the engine and smiled at Lucian.
"This is my home and now it is also going to be yours too," she said.
Lucian followed her inside, taking in the warm, lived-in feel of the place. Family photos lined the walls, and the scent of something faintly sweet lingered in the air.
As they stepped into the living room, Melissa began talking about her family. "My son, Scott, is around your age. He's in high school, plays lacrosse, and spends way too much time on his phone. You two should get along."
Lucian nodded, already planning how he'd ensure Scott's transformation unfolded as it should.
Melissa led him down the hall and knocked on a door before opening it. Inside, a boy with short brown hair was sitting on his bed, scrolling through his phone.
"Scott," Melissa said, "this is Lucian. He's new in town and will be staying with us for a while."
Scott looked up, surprised. "Uh, hey."
Lucian stepped forward, extending a hand. "Hi, I'm Lucian. Thanks for letting me stay."
Scott shook his hand, offering a friendly smile. "No problem. New to Beacon Hills, huh?"
"Yeah," Lucian replied. "Still getting used to everything."
Scott smiled and ask "so are you the new student that was shifted here and will be attending Beacon Hills High School."
Lucian smiled and said," yea you are right it's me I will be in your care from now onwards."
They chatted for a few minutes about school, lacrosse, and small-town life before Melissa ushered Lucian out to show him his room.
"This will be your room," she said, opening the door to a small but comfortable guest room. "Make yourself at home. We'll have dinner soon."
Lucian thanked her, waited for her to leave, and then closed the door.
Practicing the Mind
Alone at last, Lucian unpacked the few belongings from his inventory—mostly the cash and ID. He sat cross-legged on the bed and activated his mental abilities again.
---
System Update:
Your proficiency in Mind Control, Memory Reading, and Telepathy is increasing rapidly due to your intense focus and Heavenly Understanding.
---
Lucian tested each ability in turn. He found that with Mind Control, he could plant subtle suggestions or exert full control over someone, depending on his focus and strength. Memory Reading allowed him to view someone's memories as if watching a film, and Telepathy enabled seamless communication, upto across 100 meters.
---
Proficiency Levels:
Mind Control: 35%
Memory Reading: 40%
Telepathy: 45%
---
Lucian grinned. With just a few hours of practice, he was already becoming proficient.
Dinner Time
As the sun set, Melissa called out, "Lucian! Scott! Dinner's ready!"
Lucian joined them in the dining room, where a simple but hearty meal was laid out. He sat across from Scott, who was busy recounting a lacrosse practice story. Melissa chimed in occasionally, laughing at Scott's jokes.
Lucian smiled, enjoying the normalcy of the moment. It was strange to think about the chaos waiting for them tomorrow.
As the meal wrapped up, Melissa asked, "Lucian, do you have everything you need for school tomorrow?"
Lucian nodded. "Yeah, I'm all set. Thanks again for letting me stay."
"Of course," Melissa said warmly.
Preparing for Tomorrow
After dinner, Lucian retreated to his room. He lay on the bed, staring at the ceiling, his mind racing.
"System," he said softly. "Tomorrow is the day when Peter Hale bites Scott. I want to use Mind Control to ensure it happens."
---
System Alert:
Objective feasible. Your current proficiency in Mind Control will allow you to subtly influence Peter Hale's actions.
---
Lucian smirked, satisfied. He had the tools to shape the future of this world, and he intended to use them wisely.
With that thought, he closed his eyes, drifting off to sleep. Tomorrow would be the start of something extraordinary.
