Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix

Chapter 817: Berserker emperor

"We saw the effects of that magic on him… it seems that sin magic is only something the dragons can use, efficiently at least," Orcis said after nodding several times. "Well, this isn't much useful in combat, but at least it improved our lives drastically."

According to Orcis, since the island was made out of magic, it was rich in mana so that vegetation could grow there extremely fast, and just like Rain, they learned how to feed trees with the right nutrients using their mana.

At first, they had to do a bunch of experiments, but soon, they learned that people with the right elemental affinities could pull that off just by feeding the trees with mana. Those were mainly water and earth mages. Fire and wind mages could do the same but with a lower efficiency.

"It is interesting if anything else," Rain said.

As Rain listened to their explanations and observed the practical implementations of his teachings, he gained the understanding of how his knowledge had been incorporated and evolved. The advancements and creative applications they had developed based on his teachings left Rain both impressed and intrigued.

They improved their skills to the point that even those who weren't that much skilled could do things like levitate and use Impulse. To make everyone's work easier, everyone knew Magic Boost and Limit Breaker.

During this interesting walk, Asche accompanied the group, keenly observing the developments and absorbing the discussions about the practical applications of Rain's teachings. Liss was on the warship with the warriors that worked there since fighting with the magic people was something they had to do almost daily.

"There are other things that we learned, but we can't share those things right now," Branden said. "it is a military secret against the magic people, and it would be troublesome for us if you learned it and then used it against them before us."

"That is fine. It is only logical," Rain shrugged. "Not like I want to fight them anytime soon. My sole goal is something else."

Branden, Esmeralda, Orcis, and Lorene remained cautious and vigilant around him. Their concern came from the apprehension that any misstep or harm that might befall Rain's family could provoke his anger and potentially lead to dire consequences.

They had a genuine fear that if anything were to happen to Rain's family members and he was to confirm it, his reaction could be dangerous. They couldn't shake off the possibility that Rain, upon confirming any harm or danger to his loved ones, might seek retribution or come after those who abandoned them.

They were well aware of Rain's prowess, his determination, and the lengths he could go to protect his family. This understanding made them tread cautiously and maintain a sense of wariness, ensuring they handled matters delicately to avoid any possible problems.

Over the next few days, Rain found himself engaged in numerous conversations with Branden, Esmeralda, Orcis, and Lorene. Each of them took turns approaching him, inviting him for tea, and engaging in seemingly small talk.

It became evident to Rain that their interactions were deliberately light-hearted and yet guarded. Despite the friendly atmosphere, there was a distinct air of caution in their conversations. It was as though they were careful not to divulge too much information or delve into any crucial matters that might hold significance or reveal their current state of affairs.

At the same time, Rain noticed their subtle attempts to learn from him during these interactions. Despite not appearing significantly stronger outwardly, Branden, Esmeralda, Orcis, and Lorene sought to glean as much knowledge and information from Rain as possible.

They observed him closely, trying to discern any insights or learnings he might have acquired during his absence despite his seemingly unchanged appearance.

Eventually, they confirmed that when they felt a small change in Rain's aura… it was the same thing that they feel when someone unlocks a new path.

The Berserker King's path leveled up.

Level 50: Bloodthirsty Roar - Unleash a a roar, intimidating your enemies and decreasing their attack damage and accuracy significantly, giving you a distinct advantage in battle. Decreases their strength and dexterity by ten points per level for sixty seconds.

You fulfilled the requirements to unlock a new path.

The Berserker Emperor's path shows a relentless pursuit of combat mastery, honing the ability to channel inner fury into devastating prowess on the battlefield. Strength + 50 per level.

Level 1: Apex Fury

Unleash inner fury to increase physical parameters to their peak. Raises physical parameters by +200 per level at the cost of 100 stamina per second.

"What the… this is just an improved version of Limit Breaker… I want something fresh, stupid system," Rain thought and realized once more that relying on the system was essentially useless.

"Did something happen?" Branden asked trying to sound and look as casual as possible.

"Nothing really, just a few experiments didn't show the results that I want," Rain said.

Branden restrained himself from asking further questions, aware that his curiosity might become too apparent. Rain also had reservations about divulging too much information to his friends. Uncertainties about the future were obvious, making both parties cautious.

Rain wasn't just cautious because he didn't fully trust them, but also due to his concern that his friends might inadvertently become targets of the dragon god by growing too powerful.

Although the dragon god exhibited a level of wariness regarding the power Rain had achieved in the twenty years of his level, what raised suspicion was the lack of concern over the exponential growth in power obtained by Rain's family and friends over the course of a hundred years.

Rain imagined this as a potential red flag; the dragon god's indifference towards their prowess seemed peculiar, suggesting hidden motives…

The mutual wariness between Rain and his companions created an atmosphere fraught with caution and unspoken tensions. Each party held back information, guarded by their own fears and suspicions… it was quite sad considering the connection that they once had…
