Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix

Chapter 816: Compatibility

Despite the tense atmosphere and the complexities of the situation, Rain maintained an unusually calm demeanor that puzzled those around him. His composed and collected attitude, especially in the face of such a significant new and the potential ramifications it brought, left everyone around him perplexed.

The reason for their bewilderment lay in the fact that Rain's grandparents were part of the group that might suffer from Esmeralda's reluctance to extend aid beyond their immediate allies . As crucial members of the community, any decision that might affect them directly held significant weight.

"... Aren't you going to condemn us?" Esmeralda frowned.

"No, as expected, this needs more sugar," Rain said while drinking the tea. "I am just a visitor here, you guys are the leaders here and it isn't my place to say anything."

Everyone wanted to ask why Rain keeps making comments about the tea in between his real comments, but they decided to ignore that… Rain was being quite understandable about their decisions, but from his perspective, that was only obvious.

There was no point in complaining about the past, Rain wasn't in their positions either, he didn't face the hardships of the last one hundred years that they faced, so he couldn't say a single thing. If they were to ask if he was disappointed or not, he would say that he was a bit, but it wouldn't change a thing.

It was better not to waste his energy on things that couldn't change and on things beyond his control.

"What are you going to do about them?" Branden asked.

"I Improved things for them for a bit, so they aren't in a hurry to see me again," Rain replied. "I will stick to the plan and then find everyone before making my decisions in the long term. Sorry for having bothered you, I am leaving now." Discover more stories at My Virtual Library Empire

"As you said, you can at least stay here for one week," Branden said. "We only expand the Island when we need new places, but we have some extra rooms here for you to use."

"I can't see the point of inviting me when you won't feel comfortable with me around," Rain said.

"Just shut up and accept their hospitality," Liss said. "I will keep my eye on you in case you do anything suspicious."

"So, you don't trust me, but you still want me to stay?" Rain furrowed his eyebrows. "Have you ever heard the words: mental stability?"

"Shut the fuck up," Liss said.

Rain found himself in a state of deep thinking despite the situation... It became evident to him that there was much he needed to learn about how everyone had improved and evolved with the knowledge he had left behind.

Amidst so many concerns and the weight of responsibilities that surfaced with his return, Rain also realized another simple yet pressing need—he wanted something warm and comforting to eat. The desire for a warm and tasty meal lingered in his mind, a simple pleasure he had missed for quite some time.

Given the circumstances and his longing for a satisfying meal, Rain considered the offer to stay in that base for a short while. It provided an opportunity not only to satiate his hunger but also to delve deeper into understanding the advancements and developments that had taken place during his absence.

At the same time, he also wanted to make some progress on his skills… he figured out that it would be better that way given that the berserker king's path was almost reaching level fifty.

Branden guided Rain to one of the rooms of the mansion. Although the place was quite big, it seemed that they didn't have servants… the room was big and quite well equipped and there was no dust in it.

Rain learned why soon when he looked through the window of the place and saw the kids using their magic to repair the garden and also get rid of the dust in the air, and even the sweat in their bodies…

"They are copying even on that?" Rain frowned.

Rain left the knowledge on how to do that, but he didn't think that people would actually bother about it. In any case, Rain was a bit mentally tired, so he used Endurance Sacrifice to spend his stamina on the skills of the berseker kings path in order to get physicall tired to fall asleep.

The following day, Branden, Esmeralda, Orcis, and Lorene invited Rain for a walk around the city. During their walk, they took the opportunity to elaborate on how they had utilized the knowledge and teachings that Rain had left before his disappearance.

Each of them shared insights into the specific ways they had applied Rain's guidance and expertise over the past hundred years, showcasing the innovative applications and adaptations they had made.

"Before we reached this area, we trained our kids on using earth magic as much as possible and so eventually, their combined effort let them create this island," Branden explained. "Earth magic is pretty good for defensive purposes, so we didn't hesitate in making them follow your training regimen."

"Given the fact that our kids wanted to leave outside, they didn't feel bothered by this, even though the training was quite harsh," Esmeralda said. "Their desire to live on the surface fueled their resolve, while we felt troubled for almost forcing them the problems that we caused."

"Whil you blame yourself for how things turned out, we were able to rebuild a place where we could live like this freely," Lorene said. "All thanks to the knowledge that you left behind… it is a bit annoying that you had so many things that you knew and kept secret and the fact that you still kept hidden the power of the sins."

"You guys are trying to make me feel better?" Rain frowned. "Anyway, using that power is useless, that is the only source of strength of the dragon god, and he can use all the magic of the dragons. It will be useless against him since his mind is extremely resistant against the sin magic… he was fucked up in the head, but he still could be logical on most things…"
