Chapter 808 Welcome
As Rain journeyed further south, a notable change gradually unfolded before him. The dense, ominous clouds that had shrouded the skies for so long began to thin out, parting ways to reveal a panoramic view of the endless blue sky stretching out to the horizon.
It was a welcome sight, a canvas of openness that seemed untouched by the far-reaching influence of the ice age spell cast by the ice dragons. The sense of relief and hope flooded Rain's senses as he gazed upon this newfound expanse of clear, unobstructed heavens… the temperature began to increase too and that made him worry if the humans missed that and kept moving to either East or West.
In any case, eventually, Rain was able to find the sources of what was making the air change… much to his surprise, they were some massive vessels in the ocean… they looked like warships, but they were a bit different and rough looking.
The warships that sailed across the ocean had quite the rough and formidable appearance, their rough exteriors fashioned from the remnants of slain dragons. Crafted primarily from dragon bones, scales, and hide, with a few sections reinforced by metal, these vessels boasted a menacing, organic design.
Their colossal frames spanned around five hundred meters in length and two hundred meters in width, presenting an intimidating sight on those waters.
Amidst the naval confrontation, these warships engaged in a fierce exchange of magical projectiles. From their decks, they launched projectiles infused with elemental energies—icy shards, fiery bolts, and earthen spears—creating a chaotic spectacle as the elements clashed and crackled in the air, adding to the intensity of the ongoing naval conflict.
"They are either brave or plain stupid for using these materials…" Rain though. "Maybe they are using them to lure more dragons in order to hunt them."
Rain tried to look at the people in both places, but no one was exposing themselves… they were firing their magic projectiles and making them fly in an arc through some small rifts on the casket of the ships.
"... They couldn't be humans fighting humans, right?" Rain thought.
That possibility existed… Rain didn't like it, but he couldn't deny it. Humans and sea folk stopped working together, so it was only a matter of time before humans also would start splitting up for their own selfish reasons.
In any case, the output of mana fired from both sides was quite high. Hundreds of projectiles were flying and hitting each other in the air and causing shockwaves and making the ocean forcing its waters to get violent.
All of a sudden, a golden projectile was fired from the ship on the left side with insane power and speed. The projectile pierced through all the others with ease… However, it seemed that the other side still had a truck up on their sleeve.
"I know that attack…" Rain said.
When Rain said that, the golden projectile stopped and hit something in the air. As the golden projectile collided with the invisible barrier, an explosive display of force spread around the area... The impact reverberated outward, transmitting immense shockwaves that swiftly rippled across the ocean's surface. Experience more content on My Virtual Library Empire
Waves of extraordinary magnitude surged outward in all directions, their towering sizes propelled by the kinetic energy released upon impact.
The waves, spurred by the sheer force of the collision, surged and swelled, forming massive undulations that propagated across the waters in an expanding circle. They moved with remarkable intensity, creating a turbulent and dramatic upheaval, their sheer energy visibly agitating the surrounding sea as they surged across the horizon.
Eventually, as the energy dispersed, the waves gradually subsided, leaving the ocean to regain its calm and tranquil state once more.
"I recognize that kind of barrier too…" Rain thought. "Still, I can't say for certain if that truly belongs to the magic people… those guys, if they still had the help of that unknown individual, they shouldn't have had a hard time defeating humans in the last one hundred years."
While Rain knew that everyone used the book that he left behind to gain a lot of power while they were underground, the magic people wouldn't stay behind either. Regardless… considering that they had been branded before, Rain couldn't sense the power of the sins coming from that other ship or from the magic projectiles.
In any case, although the barrier wasn't destroyed, the second ship began to move away from the area… the first ship chased them for a short while, but soon they stopped.
The first warship began to move south and Rain wondered what he should do… should chase them and surprise them once they reached their base. Showing himself now would make him look less suspicious, but he definitely was going to be attacked by them.
Rain decided to approach now, it was more dangerous, but it was going to be better in the long run. Still, it didn't take long for him to regret that… he barely approached when the golden projectile soon flew toward him…
As the golden projectile flew towards him, Rain swiftly dodged to the side, narrowly evading a direct impact. Despite his quick maneuver, he instinctively reached out with his left hand, seizing hold of the projectile in a gripping display of skill and power.
However, the sheer force behind the attack pulled at him relentlessly, and he found himself being pulled along as the projectile surged forward over the expanse of the ocean. The warship, now distant in the horizon, vanished from sight as Rain was dragged through the air.
Finally coming to a halt, Rain examined his left hand, noting faint trails of smoke leaving from his grasp where the golden arrow had been caught. He observed the projectile with a mix of curiosity, as he had expected, it was a golden arrow.
"This was an intense welcome, Asche…" Rain thought. "If you had the time to aim, you certainly had the chance to see me as well… you disappoint me, Asche."
