I'm Really Not A Nen Exorcist (HxH Fanfic)

Chapter 473: Chapter 473 What Year is This?

Amidst the deep green glow, Mammon quietly observed Moses's figure.

In the secluded mountains, time stood still.

After an unknown amount of time, Moses finally learned the last Divine Script from Mammon.

Originally, he had only intended to pick up some knowledge of Divine Script from Mammon, but to his surprise, Mammon had a wealth of expertise and was generous in teaching it all to him.

Although the condition was that he must stay in the ruins to study, for him, as long as the environment was peaceful, it didn't matter where he was.

Thus, he stayed.

During this period of focused study, Moses didn't bother to track how many days had passed. He could only feel that his proficiency in the Divine Scripts were constantly improving.

Now, Moses could carve an advanced Divine Script within three minutes.

In addition, his control over Aura had greatly improved.

Divine Scripts themselves required precise control over Aura.

The process of practicing Divine Script was essentially a way to train his Aura Control.

Day after day of extremely boring training, although the improvement of his Manifested Aura is very limited, but with the improvement of his control over Aura, it also indirectly improved the proficiency of Advanced Nen Techniques such as Ryu and En.

"En."

Moses closed his eyes, focusing his Aura outward.

Immediately, a membrane-like Aura Circle emerged from his body, separating and slowly expanding outward.

It extended up to twenty meters, then began to ripple like waves before bursting like a bubble, transforming into countless shimmering specks drifting through the air.

"Not bad." Moses murmured, a slight smile appearing on his lips as he opened his eyes.

This was his first attempt at using En in a real sense, yet he had already managed to extend it to a radius of twenty meters.

If seasoned Nen Users, who dedicated time and effort to studying En, saw Moses effortlessly stabilize his En at such a distance on his first try, they'd be stunned beyond belief.

For them, this kind of feat would be nothing short of a fantasy.

But in reality, this was the most direct outcome of practicing the Divine Scripts.

Moses was now able to use En with ease, and naturally, his skill with Ryu, one of the essential techniques in advanced Nen combat, wasn't lacking either.

"So that's why Ging has such insane control over his Aura."

Moses mused, slowly raising his right hand. As his Aura stirred, small Nen Spheres appeared between his fingers.

Immediately, these Nen Spheres lined up in a row, rolling back and forth along the surface of his fingers, splitting into two groups, with one group rolling forward and the other in reverse.

This is the ball-playing mini-game that Ging once demonstrated in the original work. It looked simple, but in practice, it was incredibly difficult to perform.

Only someone with top-notch control could manage to manipulate multiple Nen Spheres simultaneously, and even make the Nen Spheres roll in opposite directions at the same time.

"It turns out that they were all forced out by the Divine Scripts."

Moses looked down at the tiny Nen Spheres on his fingertips, his face breaking into a smile.

Every day, he had to trace countless sacred glyphs, carefully adjusting his Aura input according to the structure of each stroke, sometimes fine, sometimes broad, sometimes long, sometimes short, sometimes thick, sometimes thin...

With time, even a pig would develop refined control…

The real question was whether one could endure this endlessly monotonous form of training.

Moses couldn't be sure how much time Ging had devoted to practicing the Divine Scripts, but it couldn't have been a small amount, given his remarkable control.

Now, Moses found himself on the same path Ging had walked before. Through countless repetitions of Divine Scripts, he unknowingly developed an exceptional level of control over his Aura.

"The structure of the ancient Divine Scripts is a bit complicated, but they're actually less challenging to trace than modern Divine Scripts."

Waving his hand, Moses dispersed the Nen Spheres, then concentrated a small flame of Aura at the tip of his index finger.

"If it's an ancient Divine Script, I can barely manage to draw them directly with my Aura… but I'm still a long way from Ging's level."

While muttering to himself, Moses walked to a tilted wall and used the Aura Flame on his fingertip to inscribe intricate lines on the wall.

A few minutes later.

A design resembling a maze appeared on the wall.

"Rat Jewel, come here."

Without looking away from the newly drawn Divine Script on the wall, Moses called out.

Rat Jewel, who had been playing with a group of head-holding humanoid statues in the ruins, perked up upon hearing Moses's call. A straight mark on its head emitted a surge of Aura, transforming into a green-glowing circular portal before it.

Rat Jewel waved its short arms at the statues following behind, then jumped into the portal.

At the next moment.

A circular portal, glowing with green light, suddenly appeared in front of Moses.

Rat Jewel's chubby figure also rolled out from the portal.

Moses turned his gaze toward Rat Jewel, then waved and said with a smile: "Come on, we're leaving."

"Chuu!"

Upon hearing they were leaving, Rat Jewel's eyes lit up. The Aura Orb at the end of its tail transformed into a joyful expression, and with a leap, it turned into a bead necklace in mid-air.

Moses reached out and caught the bead necklace, then put it around his neck.

"Let's go directly."

He glanced at the large number of ancient buildings in the distance.

Mammon had gone out a few days prior to select his next feeding target and hadn't yet returned yet.

Moses had no intention of waiting for him. He left a farewell message on the ground nearby, then activated the Divine Script he had just drawn with his Aura.

Hiss-!

The Divine Script on the wall emitted a bright glow, converging into a cocoon of light that enveloped Moses.

----

The sky was clear, with a gentle breeze carrying a hint of winter's chill.

By a shimmering lakeside, an old man wearing a straw hat was fishing.

Next to him stood a long, slender basket.

The angled sunlight cast dappled shadows across the side of the basket.

But the inside of the basket was empty.

"Excuse me, sir, could you tell me what year it is?"

A deliberately lowered voice spoke from behind the old man.

The old man's straw hat tilted slightly as he paused, a bit puzzled. Without turning around, he replied: "1998."

"And what month?"

The voice continued to ask.

The old man who was fishing could not help but frowned and replied impatiently: "December 21st."

In order to prevent the person behind him from asking what day it was, the old man directly gave an accurate date.

"Thanks."

The voice said sincerely.

Hearing this, the old man's frown relaxed a bit.

"Huh?"

The old man's nose twitched, and he sniffed. Suddenly, an indescribable, pungent smell assaulted his senses.

"?!"

The abrupt stench made the old man's vision go dark, and he started to fall backward.

The person asking for the date was none other than Moses, who had just come out of the ruins.

Seeing the old man faint, Moses thought it might be due to high blood pressure, so he quickly rushed forward to support him.

But as soon as he caught the old man, he saw his eyes roll back and he passed out entirely.

"Really? It's one thing to be old, but to be in such poor health and still go fishing…"

Moses shook his head slightly.
