Chapter 229: Chapter 24: Blitzkrieg

Late that night, at the Tendo residence.

A stretched Lincoln stopped in front of the door of the quaint Japanese-style mansion.

The car door opened, and an old man stepped out.

He was tall and thin, wearing traditional Japanese clothing and a patterned haori. His long beard and sharp eyes gave him an air of authority.

Despite his age, he exuded the majesty of a superior.

He was the current patriarch of the Tendo family, the assistant officer second only to the Holy Emperor in Tokyo Kikunojou Tendo.

When the servants waiting at the door saw the old man approaching, they bowed respectfully and opened the door for him.

"Take me to see Kazumitsu," Kikunojou Tendo commanded.

His voice, though old, was powerful. A servant immediately stood up and led the way.

Soon, after passing through several corridors, the servant stopped in front of a room.

Inside, Kazumitsu Tendo, dressed in a suit and looking slightly nervous, was seated.

"Grandfather, you're finally back!"

Seeing Kikunojou Tendo return, Kazumitsu felt a wave of relief but still looked anxious. "Some problems occurred while you were at the Ministry of Defense."

"Why are you so flustered?"

Kikunojou Tendo looked at Kazumitsu, the most respected of his many grandchildren, with a hint of dissatisfaction. "What's the important matter? I still have things to deal with at the Ministry of Defense."

"It's... about your granddaughter."

"My granddaughter?"

Kikunojou Tendo thought for a moment, then his face darkened. "Kisara? A few days ago, she handed evidence to my political enemy, forcing me to sever ties with him and cripple my influence. Does she have evidence against someone else now?"

"No, that's not it."

"Then what is it?"

"Our contacts at Tokyo Fares sent us intelligence. Kisara rented a helicopter eight hours ago. Seven hours ago, the helicopter carried four people to an unexplored area and returned an hour ago."

"An unexplored area? What are her people doing in a place like that?" Kikunojou Tendo felt a pang of unease.

The unexplored area referred to the region outside the Monoliths, occupied by Gastrea.

Even a police officer ranked in the top 1,000 had little chance of returning safely from such a place.

And now, his granddaughter had taken her people to such a dangerous location?

In truth, Kikunojou Tendo didn't have much affection for his granddaughter.

A large family wasn't truly a family it was more like a small society. Blood relations meant little here; the only meaningful connections were those of interest.

This was why he had chosen to kill Kisara Tendo parents.

However, as for the little girl, perhaps out of the last shred of familial affection or his arrogance as the patriarch, he hadn't wiped out the entire branch.

At most, he had suppressed her from time to time in the industry, letting her understand the difficulty of fighting alone and giving up her naive dream of revenge after facing the cruelty of reality.

He was well aware of Kisara Tendo financial situation.

She definitely didn't have the resources to rent a helicopter, and even if she did, she wouldn't use the funds for an outing to an unexplored area.

That girl must have had another purpose for going there.

"Could it be that..."

A far-fetched guess formed in Kikunojou Tendo mind.

Regardless of his thoughts, he walked quickly to his bedroom with a grim expression and retrieved a machine he had locked in his safe.

On the machine, a flashing red dot blinked in the unexplored area, moving slowly.

Seeing this, Kikunojou Tendo breathed a sigh of relief and gradually calmed down.

The machine displayed the tracking beacon he had installed on the Seven Stars relics, which provided him with their coordinates at all times.

If an unexpected situation arose, he could send people to recover them.

"The Seven Stars relics are still in the unexplored area, which means Kisara hasn't recovered them yet," Kikunojou Tendo thought. "Yes, how could she know the location of the relics? No one knows this information except me."

But if Kisara Tendo purpose wasn't to recover the relics, then what was it?

Her financial situation wouldn't allow her to rent a helicopter for no reason. Her company didn't have much income to begin with. Renting a helicopter was an expense that even other police companies tried to avoid, let alone Kisara Tendo struggling firm.

He paced the room for a long time. Although logic reassured him, the ominous feeling in his heart grew stronger.

Kisara wasn't a fool.

Though it was embarrassing to admit, her abilities might be the strongest among the younger generation of the Tendo family.

Such a person wouldn't act irrationally.

After hesitating for a moment, Kikunojou Tendo took out a phone from the safe and dialed the only number stored on it.

"Isn't this Master Tendo?"

The call connected quickly, and an elegant, magnetic male voice came through. "The plan isn't set to begin for another week. You're not the type to chat with someone like me, so you must be calling because something unexpected has happened, right?"

"Kagetane Hiruko, I'll keep this brief. I'll send you the coordinates of the Seven Stars relics in a moment. Go check if there's anything unusual."

"Oh? Could it be that someone else knows the coordinates?"

"I don't know, which is why I'm asking you to check."

"No problem. Do you need me to activate it early after retrieving it?"

"No, wait a few days. Let things brew for a while, then you can throw it into the stomach of another Gastrea."

"As you wish."

The call ended.

Kikunojou Tendo sent the coordinates to Kagetane Hiruko and sat on the tatami, waiting for news.

However, his meditation didn't last long before his phone rang again.

This time, it was another phone.

Kikunojou Tendo glanced at the caller ID and saw that it was the spy he had planted near the Holy Emperor.

After answering, he asked calmly, "What's the matter?"

"Master Tendo, just now, a visitor came to the Holy Residence and requested an audience with the Holy Emperor."

"Who?"

"He claims to be a subordinate of Kisara Tendo."

At that moment, Kikunojou Tendo internal alarm bells rang so loudly that he nearly crushed his phone.

Kisara Tendo had sent people to the unexplored area, and after their return, they immediately sought an audience with the Holy Emperor?

Even a three-year-old could see the problem!

"Hold them back," Kikunojou Tendo said in a deep voice. "No matter what means you use, stop Rentaro Satomi!"

"Rentaro Satomi? No, Master Tendo, the one who came to see the Holy Emperor is a woman."

"A woman?" Kikunojou Tendo frowned.

"Yes."

On the phone, an unfamiliar name reached Kikunojou Tendo ears.

"She said her name was Nia Honjo."
