We found ourselves in a ruined city, straight out of Prince of Persia. There is desolation, sand and ruined buildings everywhere. However, the beauty of the buildings was visible even now.

- Is this the world of Anomaly? - Aki asked looking around.

- Yeah.

- I'd like to see this city in the time of its greatness, - said Gerda, touching the bas-relief depicting some military exploits. - As if it were real. Without seeing the truth, it's easy to believe everything around you is real.

- Graaaaaaah! - came a roar from the centre of this dimension. It's Dahaka. You must be awake, my little dove.

- According to my observations, we were thrown out somewhere closer to the edge," I said to the tense girls. - Come on. Quicker we start, quicker we finish.

The girls nodded and went forward. Gerda used her book, dressed in Bina's robes, while Aki hesitated to summon Gebura's voracious armour. But she materialised a cigarette and took a puff.

- Pfeee! Phew! That's disgusting! - The girl coughed, dematerialising it immediately. Gerda, on the other hand, turned away, trying not to laugh. - How could Gebura smoke them?! It was so much nicer in her memories!

- Have you decided to get addicted to cigarettes? - I asked her in surprise.

- Of course not. I was just curious. Where's that bloke?

- About half a kilometre away and closing fast.

- Heh, I'll show him the strength of a bogatyrsky! - Aki shouted excitedly as she materialised all her E.G.O.'s.The mimicry, like last time, merged with the girl's arms and legs. Gerda, on the other hand, folded her arms across her chest, waiting for the Anomaly to come closer. And Dahaka didn't keep us bored for long. After about forty seconds, he appeared ahead and at a good speed for such a carcass headed towards us. And a few moments later, he reappeared before us in all his grim splendour.

- Have you, renegade, any last words? - prophesied Dahaka, stopping about twenty metres from us.

- I may have last words, but you will not hear them, for I intend to live a little longer. And the power you've gathered will help me do that.

- Very presumptuous, mortal!

These words were the signal for an attack. By unspoken agreement, I gave the girls a chance to practice their new abilities on a dangerous enemy that was not to be spared. Let them frolic, and I will intervene only in a critical situation.

Gerda with a wave of her hand released into the enemy a lot of black and yellow sharp even in appearance projectiles, similar to long and narrow shards of glass. They flew over the fleeing Aki and pierced the Anomaly, causing it to growl in displeasure. The wounds were shallow, however, and immediately began to regenerate, emitting puffs of black smoke. But the Fei particles, as the projectiles were called, remained inside, causing more damage.

Aki, leaving a red inversion trail, reached her opponent and collided with him fist to fist, causing an air wave that swept away sand, wood, and even small rocks nearby. Neither opponent was able to overpower the other, though they tried. But the girl had to jump back when black and white tentacles appeared around, wanting to impale and kill her.

Gerda, on the other hand, wasn't sitting idle either. She created a black column with yellow writing over Dahaka and gestured to send her down. The Anomaly was able to partially defend herself from such a gift on her head by putting her arms out, but even so she fell to one knee from the force of the blow and took some damage.

Aki turned Mimicrya into a sword at this point, to more readily destroy the tentacles appearing on an industrial scale. Now the kid could mow them down left and right as she approached the creator. And when Dahaka received a column from above, he lost control for a second, opening a path to himself. The girl immediately seized the moment.

- Oraaaa!!! - Shouted Aki, slashing at her enemy's torso.

- Graaaaah! Mortals, your attempts to obstruct the judgement are laughable!

But the maidens had no intention of stopping. Gerda kept pushing the column, fully focused on it, while Aki tried to pierce the Anomaly with her cleaver. True, this time the tenatakli defended the owner and even hit my girlfriend in the side. Dahaki as the embodiment of death had damage with the same attribute, which is very dangerous. But this time, Aki got off with a minor scare due to the strength of her armour. Instead of retreating, she used Sin of Rage, reinforcing her cleaver with one halo of Light. The effect was immediate. The enemy's defences disintegrated, opening up access to his body.

But Dahaka had already destroyed Gerda's column, grabbed Mimicrya with both hands and enveloped everything within a few metres in a dense layer of darkness. Such a thing made the eyes on the sword spin frantically, and metal and flesh began to melt away. Aki tried to break free, feeling the armour gradually thinning as it did so, but the big man took her seriously, not responding to the blows with his fists. He kept Gerda busy as well, unleashing a wave of sand and a multitude of tentacles towards the girl. But with the help of telekinesis and her E.G.O., she was able to stop the attack, tearing off the nasty growths at the same time.

Not waiting for the Mimicry to be destroyed, Aki merged it with her hands again, hammering at the Anomaly and forcing it to slowly retreat, concentrating on a silent defence, occasionally unleashing her tenacles. Gerda joined in as well, binding her opponent with black and yellow chains around his arms and legs. Her partner instantly took advantage of this, hitting the centre of Dahaki's torso with Void. The effect was quite impressive. However, even a hole the size of a man's head didn't stop this relentless pursuer.

Instead, the big man decided to show off his cosmic power to the brazen intruders. The ensuing blast of sand threw Aki aside and forced Gerda to catch the girl.

- What a stubborn bastard! - exclaimed the Japanese girl admiringly as she got to her feet.

- Who does he remind me of? - Gerda asked innocently.

- I have no idea," Aki replied cheerfully, raising the brim of her helmet for a second.

Dahaka, meanwhile, stopped dusting in all directions and reappeared in all his glory. His body had fully recovered, getting bigger at the same time. It seems that Anomaly had had enough of these games and decided to take us seriously.

Retreat.

- Tell me what happened," Stone ordered, massaging her temples. She certainly didn't like the news.

- It was business as usual until fifteen minutes ago, when a tinted minibus drove up to the base," Ramirez began, sitting down on a chair in front of her superiors. - We spotted them right away and were alert, but we had no idea what was going to happen next. As soon as all the cars stopped, fifty people jumped out of them, packed in the kind of ammunition I'd only seen on Snake Eaters and other such units. We would have put them down, but then the p****ts started! They didn't count their losses at all, piling bodies on top of us and gradually pushing us deeper into the building. While we were trying to fight back, these sons of bitches broke through the wall with the help of some equipment and got into the place where the Light with enkephalin was stored. We were supposed to send everything we've collected this week back here today. They took what they could while the suicide bombers took us over.

- What are your casualties?

- Two. Seven more almost pulled out of the dead thanks to HP.

- But why didn't you contact us and ask for reinforcements?! - Anna asked, clenching her fists. - Why didn't you send a man by teleport?!

- Because we couldn't, ma'am. All communication was blocked.

- There is no technology in the world that can block our abilities! - exclaimed scientist Amelia Williams, even standing up from her seat.

- There may not be technology, Paula Ramirez agreed. - But magic does. Those s**theads used a magic spell that left us on the base without communication or evacuation.

- Are you sure? Does Hydra have magicians under their control?

- Hydra, like Greece, has everything," said a young blue-haired boy with the nickname Chesed, causing everyone to fall silent in surprise. - At least, theoretically.

- Why does Greece have everything?

- Well, that's what the Head says.

- So how did you know it was magic? - A frowning Stone asked.

- We have data on magic through the study of that weak sorceress. What's her name?

- Grace Brown,' said the white-haired guy with the nickname Hokma, adjusting his glasses.

- That's right. We've been getting data from the equipment when she used magic," Paula said. - And like Mel said, the energy signatures match. Our base was covered with a spell of immense power, blocking everything, allowing only the Hydrovans to get in and out.

- Who's Mel?

- She's my subordinate who works at Base 5," Amelia replied. - But even so, to block the work of our equipment you need to know what to block! It's not that easy, you know!

- And now we come to the most important thing, - said Ramirez with a glance around the audience. - They really knew.

- Knew what? - Hokma asked.

- Everything. The number of people, the plans of the base, our capabilities, when there will be the most Light, where it is, how to block the devices. That's why they were able to carry out this operation, albeit with heavy losses.

- But how did they know all this?

- A spy?

- Only the highest-ranking people had such knowledge. Like me," Anna said, crossing her arms over her chest. - So one of us leaked the information?

- Impossible," Hokma objected. - You can't break a contract.

- Right," Evans agreed. - When the Head said that, I had my doubts, to be honest. Then I was asked to check it out. I tried, using all sorts of tricks and self-hypnosis, to tell a random person about the organisation. The subsequent result was very unpleasant for me. It is impossible to violate the Contract as one has to follow not only the letter but also the spirit of what has been signed.

- Which brings us back to the question: how did Hydra get such data? And by the way, how did you know it was Hydra? - Anna asked Paula.

- Language. We managed to capture one bitch alive. But she tried to kill herself. I had to use chilopnesis to get her memories out. Too bad she didn't know much about the inner workings of Hydra. Still just ordinary rank and file meat. But the data they were given before the operation was too detailed and precise. Of course we knew of one Hydra spy who was on probation, but she didn't know anything. Not even the name of our organisation.

Everyone present hesitated after Ramirez's words. Recently, when the number of Refraction members had become larger, the acute problem of staff shortages had disappeared. Now it didn't make sense to grab all the people who were even slightly suitable. And the probationary period was supposed to help identify the most promising boys and girls. No secret information was given to them. Even the name of the organisation was kept secret. That's why Hydra's spy couldn't give out any useful information. She was picked up on purpose, wanting to leak information in the future.

- Well, we should start looking for spies after the return of the Light," Stone summed up, looking around the room. - And if the decision made here is learnt by someone else, then it will be much easier to find the rat...

- And if all that happened is the Head's plan? - Amelia interrupted the woman.

- What? What? What nonsense?!

- It's not rubbish! What if it's a way to test our emergency response?!

- I don't think it is," Chesed interjected. - People died in that attack. What good is it to the Head? After all, there is a huge amount of money invested in everyone. Millions and millions of dollars. If you forget about the moral side of the issue, it's simply irrational. Besides, if this was the Chapter's plan, you Mrs Ramirez should have sensed the Contract being activated. It was modified just so the agents wouldn't interfere with each other. Did you feel anything like that?

- N-no," the woman answered, after some thought. - No, I haven't!

- At least that's taken care of," Anna said sourly. - But since we can't solve the question of who is to blame, there is still one last question. What to do?

- We should wait for the Head, Gebura and Bina, - said the scientist. - It's too dangerous to attack the enemy, who knows almost everything about us, without the main strike force.

- How many Light doses have Hydra's minions stolen? - Sandra asked.

- 'Five hundred minimum doses to manifest E.G.O. or become a Distortion, ma'am,' Paula said grimly.

- P****ts n***a b**t! - Anna exclaimed in Russian, putting her palm to her forehead. - Even one E.G.O. is a haemorrhoid, and five hundred is just!....

- It's just the end," Sandra continued, tapping her finger on the table.

- Waiting is not an option. We don't know how long the Head will be gone," Hokma said, fixing his glasses and frowning. - What if by then they've created dozens of Distortions through inhuman experiments? The Hydrovans won't be able to control them, but that won't make us feel any better.

- Then we should first choose who will make the decisions," Anna said tensely, glancing around at everyone present. - There must be unity of command at a time like this, otherwise things will only get worse. And I am ready to take this responsibility.

- I don't mind, - Sandra answered first, surprising Stone.

She had little information about this lady. Anna only knew that the Head had personally found her and offered her to work for him. However, there were rumours among his subordinates that Evans worked for some particularly secret organisation. Perhaps even Shield. And Anna was inclined to agree with those rumours. She'd seen enough of them in the service. And Sandra was also very dangerous. Even with an E.G.O., Stone felt the woman was a serious threat. And Anna trusted her senses, which was why she'd survived all the bloody messes.

And now Evans didn't try to take over as temporary leader, even though she could, which was unexpected. And while Stone was thinking about it, everyone present also agreed with the woman's candidacy.

- Good. Then here's what we'll do. I'll give the order to prepare for the operation. In the meantime, we should gather information and find out where Hydra took the Light. Hokma, this is on you. Ramirez will help him.

- Understood. I'll get started right away," the guy replied, standing up and walking out of the hall with the woman.

- Okay. Now, as for the 'animals'. Miss Evans, I think we'll need a squad of rabbits and a couple of rhinos.

- I haven't assumed the position of their commander yet, so you can give them your own orders," Sandra said in a soft voice.

- Good. Then let's do this...

End of retreat.

As soon as Dahaka puffed up and pouted additionally, he immediately rushed towards us. Aki, realising that things were getting serious, moved in front of him, transferring the Mimicry biomass into his arms. As she approached Anomaly, the girl had fists almost as big as Vi's from League of Legends.

- Ora! Ora! Ora! - A satisfied Aki was shouting in Japanese as her paddling hands hammered at the big guy. As I realised, the girl was also using Ki.

- It's no use! Useless! Useless! - Dahaka replied in his bass voice, throwing a flurry of punches with his fists. So far the score was even.

Gerda tried to catch the Anomaly again, but it was alert and did not let the girl concentrate, sending sandstorms, clouds of darkness and tentacles bursting out of every surface. In the end it all came down to a delicate balance, as neither side could qualitatively and/or quantitatively outclass the other.

Despite his strength, Dahaka was forced to fight two strong fighters at once who had serious weapons, armour and abilities. One by one, they were no match for the monster, but together things were not so clear-cut.

The girls were primarily trying to work out all of their abilities. And for that matter, even with just the two of them, it would be hard for them to win. An abnormality is an abnormality, the laws of physics and so on are nothing to it. Aki blew a hole through him, but what's the use? Besides, the girls are still too weak for such an enemy. Needless to say, I can't beat him one-on-one in a fair fight either. Not at the moment.

While I was enjoying the spectacle and pondering, Dahaka created a reinforced wave of tentacles and occupied Gerda for a moment. It wasn't given to him easily, as he had to sacrifice the integrity of the body given to Aki's tearing. But at the expense of his nature, he could afford it. In the next instant, more tentacles came out of Anomaly's belly, trying to pierce the girl's chest. I prepared to defend Aki at this point, but she managed to make it on her own. Turning sideways to the enemy, she let some of the sharp tendrils pass her, but three of them took her in the side and shoulder. The armour withstood, though cracked, and the girl jumped away, fleeing from more attacks.

I must say that the kid had time to react as if not before me. Apparently Gebura's book helped in mastering the very "language" that would help to understand everything. Right now, it was the language of battle. You could consider that kind of nonsense, but certainly not for the Marvel world, where there are crazier things to do.

Gerda played no small part in the possibility of a retreat, supporting Aki from afar. After dealing with Dahaka's attack, the young lady decided to hit with something bigger, but immediately seeing her rival friend's predicament, she abandoned her idea and stabbed Dahaka with the Fairy.

- Focus all of his attention on you for five seconds! - Gerda shouted to Aki.

- Got it!!!

Igarashi turned Mimicrya into a sword and began to leap and run around the surviving walls in the best traditions of the Prince of Persia, trying to chop Dahaku from all sides with her elongating cleaver, dodging his attacks. At that the girl threw all her strength into it, really getting Anomaly to focus on herself.

At this time, Gerda raised her hand up, began to judge by the unpleasant emotions to remember his Sins, in order to strengthen the next attack. One by one, three rings of Light appeared around the girl's palm. If I'm not mistaken, it's Pride, Despondency and Envy.

- Aki, over here! - shouted Gerda, preparing to attack.

The girl obeyed and in three leaps she was next to Wright. Dahaka realised that something unpleasant was about to happen and threw all his strength into stopping the girls. A whole cloud of darkness separated from the Anomaly's body and moved towards Aki and Gerda with great speed.

Only at that very moment, my lady's ability finally worked. It was as if time and space itself had stopped. I realised and saw everything, but I couldn't move. The palm of the girl's hand glowed and from it in all directions travelled barely visible waves, turning stones into sand, and sand into dust. The attack was selective and did not harm her allies. On the contrary, it was as if Aki had absorbed some of the energy and was strengthened by it.

Dahaka, on the other hand, was slowly moving forward despite the obvious harm of the waves that were penetrating him. It was as if the stoppage of time wasn't affecting him as much. It probably did. But even a monster like that had taken a beating. Half of its body was destroyed and regenerated much slower than before.

- Mortals, you cannot stop Kyle Smith's punishment for tampering with the fabric of fate! - roared an angry as a thousand devils Dahaka.

- Aki use the Void and cut him down at last! - Gerda turned to Aki, pointing her hand at Anomaly.

- You don't have to talk me into it! - said the girl and grabbed Mimicrya with both hands and rushed towards her opponent.

She also decided to use Sins and began to manifest them one by one. First Anger, then Greed and Despondency. So, with three rings of Light around her hands, she launched herself at Dahaku, putting her E.G.O. into Void mode. The enemy realised that things were taking a bad turn and unleashed a sandstorm of darkness at Aki.

- Oraaaaah! - She yelled, surrounding the cleaver with a field of Void and flying forwards.

The girl literally pierced through the cloud, and her armour protected her from the remnants of the attack, even though she was already on her last breath. Dahaka saw this and began to prepare for a collision, building up the darkness around his body, but he was immediately bound by Gerda's black and gold chain. She followed, clapping her hands and further trapping the Anomaly in a translucent energy construct. But the opponent did not think of giving up, dissolving his trap quite quickly. However, that wasn't enough, as Aki had already brought her sword over him.

The impact was terrifying. The Mimicry that had increased to three metres cut Dahaka lengthwise from his horns to the ground. The Void and the reinforcement of the three Sins did their job, allowing it to pass through Gerda's dungeon and the Anomaly's defences like a piece of warm butter. However, both girls had spent most of their strength on this.

- Amazing! - I said, standing up from my seat and clapping my hands. - You almost managed to win, even though the odds of such an outcome were low. Although, what else would you expect from such cool girls armed with equally cool books?

- Practically? - Gerda clarified and shifted her gaze from me to Dahaka. - Aki! This creature is still alive!

- It's still alive! - She was indignant, bringing her blade down on the slowly regenerating Anomaly.

- Wait!" I stopped her. - You've already given yourselves almost a full workload, and you won't be able to crush Dahaku completely. I'll finish him off myself. Aki, stay back.

- All right.

I created a three metre high seal with a Star of David over the nightmare that had almost regained consciousness and turned to my Sins.

I remembered the Anger that burned from within. The pressure and suffocation of Despondency, as if I were at the bottom of the ocean. The coldness and sharpness of Pride. The thick, sticky molasses-like Laziness. Insatiable as a black hole Greed. Remembering this, he channelled all his power into a huge blade construct that flew at Dahaku.

- I'll be back Kyle S!... - Nightmare muttered before he was destroyed by my attack.

- You will. I'll look forward to it," I said as I walked over to what was left of the monster.

There were four items, if I may say so. Among them stood out something like an egg half a metre high, black in colour with white marks like Dahaki's on its body. The Anomaly will emerge from this thing again in time. You should take the egg to the holding cell to avoid any mishaps.

The next three items were parts of the E.P.O.S.A. "set" of our current opponent. The first was a black three-piece suit, all covered with the familiar white symbols and as if made of liquid darkness. Next came the simple looking gloves. The third was the most interesting. The gift, which was exactly what it was, looked like a floating cloud of darkness.

As I got closer, I tuned into them, trying to see what they could do. And I had to say, the catch was pretty good. Not Infinity Stones, of course, but they were okay. At the same time had very important tricks that will definitely be useful in this world.

The girls all this time, while I was trying to find out what E.P.O.S. Dahaki was doing, stood silently by my side, not interfering. And when I was done Aki immediately asked a question.

- So, is it cool?

I told them what the gear does and we agreed together that it was a good catch.

- So who's going to get this "set"? - Aki asked.

- Let Kyle have it," Gerda suggested as she looked at the equipment floating above the ground. - We've already got some nice toys, so let us give in to him now. Besides, the three won't fit me.

- Fine, I don't mind," the girl said, shrugging her shoulders and withdrawing her armour.

She was twisted by the rollback. I immediately started using recovery on her, as she had taken some serious hits from the Anomaly as well.

- I have to say that you can change the appearance of equipment with the Light," I said as I healed Aki.

- I will know. But I'll use that knowledge next time," Gerda said, watching us.

I, having finished with Aki, touched the E.P.O.S. and merged it with my soul. Immediately I felt a sense of pressure on my mind. At the same time my strength increased . I put on the suit and gloves at once, replacing the three of Nouveau cloth, and dematerialised the cloud of darkness that enveloped my body. He removed the marks on his clothes as well, so as not to cause unnecessary questions, and turned the material outwardly into ordinary cloth.

- By the way, Kyle," Gerda began to say, coming closer and looking at me with a commissar's squint. - Was it just me, or did you really think that we couldn't win against Dahaka?

- Ahem, ahem, well...

- Spit it out Kai! - Aki backed her up with her arms at her sides, looming over me.

- Your chances were not great against such a strong enemy, - answered them honestly, feeling the girls' displeasure. - But by using all your abilities and co-operating you were able to defeat Dahaka. Let me put it this way. Even I, without the ability to influence the Light, could not have defeated him. And even if a human with all your powers and abilities fought against the Anomaly, he wouldn't have won either. The point is, the pressure from both sides gradually killed him. He just couldn't concentrate all his strength on one side, because the other side would have immediately caught on and wouldn't let go. Teamwork rules. And don't frown so much. I'm really glad you were able to get Dahaka to this point.

- Okay, then, I forgive you, you jerk," Aki said, elbowing me in the side.

- And I will only forgive you after you show the depth of your joy," Gerda said smiling proudly.

I nodded and wrapped both girls in a hug.

- I think we can find 'common ground' on this issue," I hinted with a grin. - But let's continue in a more appropriate place, because this world is already collapsing.

The girls nodded and reluctantly let me go. I got ready for the transition and returned to the appearance of the Head. We were already met outside the cell. Anna, Sandra, Ben, Daniel, and a few other squad leaders. And I didn't like the look of them.

- Sorry Boss, we p*****ed everything, - Stone said in a lost voice.

- So, tell me," I ordered, feeling my head start to hurt.

Backtracking.

Two hours before Kyle Smith shows up.

 - ...We'll teleport you directly to the Hydra base as soon as the beacon drone gets closer," Hokma explained to the assembled soldiers, adjusting his glasses. - According to my E.G.O. there are sixty people there. They are actively preparing to send the Light to a more secure base. This cannot be allowed to happen. As a last resort, all doses should be destroyed. The computers in your suits are already loaded with all the data we've received.

- Thank you Hokma, - thanked Anna and turned to her subordinates. - So, ladies and gentlemen, this is a very serious matter and I hope you will give your best.

- We will, ma'am! The bunnies will show those hydro-assholes! - said the rabbit captain, Mia Harris, merrily reclining in her chair. - The main thing is that we get fresh grass and tasty carrots for our labours!

The woman had acquired white hair and red eyes after the rabbits' pattern improvements. This only complemented her beautiful looks and gorgeous figure, adding to her exoticism. In addition, to emphasise her rabbit-ness, Mia had two strands of hair framing her face in the manner of dangling rabbit ears.

- Definitely Harris," Stone said stone-faced. She was used to the antics of the rabid rabbit, as Mia was known. After surgery, most rabbits became reckless adrenaline junkies. And in that respect, Mia was a true rabbit. - But if you screw up, all you're looking at is a shovel blade up your arse.

- We don't mind, do we, guys? - Harris asked cheerfully, turning to her subordinates.

- I say no," replied one of the three guys among the rabbit squad. The others nodded in agreement.

- Ugh such a bore to be! You just don't know what it's like!...

- Oh, Harris, shut up! - The rhinoceros Oleg muttered, looking down at the woman. Still, he was much taller even sitting down. - You'll tell your awesome stories later.

- Shit, Oleg, you're one of those crazy Russians, so you must be on the same page with us! You were supposed to defeat evil, not lead it! - Mia exclaimed pathetically, raising her fist in the air.

- Harris!

- All right, all right boring big guy! I'll shut up! Happy?

- Oh yeah," the man replied sourly, rolling his eyes.

- So, in about half an hour, we can teleport," Anna said, looking at Oleg gratefully. - Go get ready.

- Yes!" exclaimed most of the people present.

The preparations were completed in ten minutes. The rabbits didn't want to sit in silence, so they started rattling like machine guns again.

- By the way, Mia, what's that tail on your uniform? - asked one of the soldiers from another squad of the woman.

- I asked one of the captains* to put it on me. I'm a rabbit. Therefore, I must have a tail! - said Harris cheerfully, turning her back to the questioner and twirling her bunny tail round and round.

- But why would she do such nonsense? - said the other man, watching the scene with great interest.

- Believe me boys, I know how to be persuasive! - said Mia, turning to them and slowly licking her lips, causing their blood pressure to rise.

- Harris, stop fucking around! - addressed her as the woman approached. - We'll be teleporting soon. Get ready with your bunnies.

- Come on, don't be jealous! Do you want me to show you my tail when there are no strangers? - whispered Mia into the ear of the new arrival.

- Some other time, - replied the pink-haired woman, trying to get away quickly.

- Eh. Okay boys, I'm off! - Mia said cheerfully, wagging her bunny tail and heels vigorously.

- Mm-hmm," one of the soldiers mumbled, looking after Harris.

- Don't tell me you've developed an unbearable attraction to a rabbit. There's plenty of girls around. And with a head on their shoulders.

- Look at her! They say that woman is a plague for a reason! You don't like her, she likes you!

- You've got some taste. Although it's hard not to agree that there's something special about her.

- What was I saying?

A few minutes later, everyone involved in the operation was lined up on the teleportation pad. There was also a holographic screen displaying a picture from the camera mounted on the drone that was flying towards Hydra's base. Just a few minutes ago, the soldiers telling lewd stories had become serious professionals waiting to face the enemy. And finally, the waiting time has passed.

- Let's go! Let's go!

The three rhinos were the first to run into the portal, both to break both the initial resistance and to break the entrance for the others. That task was accomplished. Next came the skirmishes in short order with Hydra's minions. They fought back desperately, but technical superiority and the element of surprise were not on their side. In addition, the Refraction fighters had many good luck charms, which were generously used today.

Since Kyle Smith's subordinates had data on the top brass of this base, there was no fear of killing someone who knew more than mere pawns. Gradually, the Hydra soldiers retreated towards the rooms where the Light was stored. Realising that these madmen could do anything, Captain Jones' squad had to repeat the trick of their opponents and break through all the walls to the right room. It was no problem, and within minutes they found a laboratory filled with vials of Light. A short girl in a white dressing gown was rummaging about. Jones rightly assumed she was one of Hydra's scientists.

- Get away from the ampoules and put your hands up! - He shouted to the girl. His subordinates immediately took her in their sights.

She turned round hurriedly, but did not raise her hands. Now she could be seen better. She was a young girl, with a real mop of blond hair tied back with a red barrette, frightened dark brown eyes, and a graceful face. She was dressed in an open dressing gown, a long olive shirt underneath, and a black miniskirt. The captain saw all this in a split second.

Immediately, five Hydra soldiers ran out at the noise and were instantly killed. They didn't even have time to aim before they had holes in their bodies. The scientist looked at all of this with big eyes and shook with horror.

- Show me your hands!

The girl obeyed and showed that she was holding one ampoule of Light in her left hand.

- Put the ampoule down! - ordered the man and hearing the approaching sounds of gunshots hurried the scientist. - Now!

But the girl did not obey, shifting her gaze from the soldiers to the dead, still holding the ampoule in her shaking hand. And as soon as she tried to put it into her body, the soldiers opened fire on the dead. The scientist fell immediately, dropping the ampoule, which was quickly grabbed by one of Jones' subordinates.

- H-how could it be? - she whispered, tears streaming from her eyes. - I was kha-kha. I wanted to see...

- Check the number of doses," the man ordered, looking at the dead woman.

Something was confusing him. It wasn't even the fact that he had killed a young girl who still had a lifetime to live. This was now an enemy who could do terrible things with the Light's help. There was no way to give even the slightest chance of the girl getting E.G.O. or becoming a Distortion.

And yet, something clawed at the captain's mind. A sense of danger, perhaps?

- Right. There's one ampoule missing sir," his subordinate said, quickly counting all the containers of Light.

- But where is it? - the man asked, and as if having an epiphany, walked over to the dead scientist.

Pushing her with his foot, he saw an empty ampoule fall out of her dressing gown pocket. Jones realised immediately.

- Og!

- Bang!

Before the man could finish the command, the girl's body exploded, throwing the whole team a few metres away. However, the captain instantly came to his senses and had time to see the scientist rising to her feet, and her terrible wounds on her chest regenerating. At the same time she herself examines herself with some surprise. But it lasted but a moment. The girl quickly shifted her gaze to the intruders and Jones saw her eyes turn red and her body seem to grow little by little.

- Fire!!!

This time he managed to give the command and his subordinates eagerly began to follow it. But it was no use. The scientist was darting all over the room, dodging all the shots with an unnatural grace, as if she were dancing. At the same time, she would occasionally reach for one or the other fighter, taking them out of the firefight with one precise blow. And after a few seconds, when there were only three men left on their feet, Jones, feeling the good luck charms on his body burn out, decided to explode the grenade, killing the girl and, if necessary, himself along with his subordinates, in order to correct his mistake.

But the scientist looked towards the side wall, behind which explosions were heard, and abruptly changed the direction of movement. Grabbing several ampoules of Light, she cast one last glance at Jones and, looping around so that it was impossible to aim, fled. The Refraction soldiers who remained on their feet tried to interfere, but it was all in vain. Jones warned his fellow soldiers to disarm the fugitive, but nothing worked. She slipped through all the obstacles and disappeared somewhere in the territory of a nearby projekt**, despite all the efforts. As if luck was exactly on her side today.

- Shit! - moaned the woman lying on the floor, trying to sit up. - Where's the good luck?!

- You're alive," the captain answered her. - And so is everyone else. If it weren't for the talismans, we'd all be dead here. So this outcome is the most fortunate of all.

- That doesn't make sense! There were so many of us, armed with the coolest weapons and covered in a bunch of paper! How could we not catch that little bitch?!

- So she was so strong that all our luck was enough to hold her back and survive. Besides, we can warn the brass about what happened. All right, that's enough moaning. We need to tell the brass right now. How many vials did she steal?

- OK, let's see, three sir.

- P****tz," Jones said tiredly, looking at the containers of Light, which were fortunately unharmed. Although that's probably the reason. - I guess I'll have to wait for a tribunal for criminal negligence.

- Come on, maybe it'll be all right? - one of his subordinates asked him hopefully.

- We'll see. Okay, ours have finished there, now we can leave the Light and join the others. We'll tell our superiors what happened. I'm sure they'll like what they hear.

End of retreat.
