Chapter 278: Chapter 35. I'm Here to Save You
[Arc4] - 35. I'm Here to Save You
---
Nothing in the world is as simple as it appears on the surface. Lord El-Melloi II understood this principle better than anyone, because the tasks he accepted always inexplicably turned into a huge mess.
So, this time, he could naturally accept it... like hell he could!
First, he used some suggestions to convince the media. The mountain was gone because of a small meteorite—whether you believe it or not, just believe it.
"Are you feeling unwell?" The red-haired boy, wearing an ill-fitting short-sleeved shirt, tilted his head and studied Lord El-Melloi II.
"No, it's just a little..." Lord El-Melloi II twitched his lips.
The red-haired boy in front of him was Iskandar, or more accurately, he was what Iskandar looked like before becoming the King of Conquerors—perhaps it was more fitting to call him Alexander, or even the Young Emperor, but...
Looking at the well-behaved young Alexander, Lord El-Melloi II rubbed his forehead, feeling a headache.
What kind of experience could possibly turn this boy, barely two meters tall, into the brash and carefree King of Conquerors?
"Take it easy, dealing with legendary heroes is always like this," a blond boy raised his index finger and wagged it, "You can never predict how much they have to grow before becoming who they are."
"Like you, right?" Lord El-Melloi II clutched his stomach and collapsed onto the sofa.
Gilgamesh, the legendary King of Heroes, now a blond boy, was in the same situation as Alexander. This was the younger version of the King of Heroes—humble and far from the arrogant king who would one day call everyone 'mongrels.'
"It seems that my future self-caused you a lot of trouble," young Gil blushed slightly, scratching his head in embarrassment.
"Trouble? You have no idea how much of our wealth you wasted!" Tohsaka Rin shot him a sly look and casually held out her hand.
"Ummm... I get your point, though I can't fully connect with my treasury yet," young Gil snapped his fingers, and the golden ripples he used for firing projectiles appeared once more, "But treasures should be fine. Will these do?"
Boom—!
A cascade of jewels poured out from the ripples, crashing to the ground.
"More than enough!" Tohsaka Rin wiped her drool.
Luvia and Illya awkwardly covered their faces in embarrassment.
"So, you see how sincere I am. Can you give me back the rest of my body?" Young Gil turned his smiling gaze towards Cyd, who was leaning against the wall, fanning himself with Archer's Class Card.
"I can, but can you help me with a small favor?" Cyd tucked the Class Card into his pocket.
"Alright, alright~ I get it," young Gil jumped up from the sofa and, with a stretch, pushed open the door leading to the courtyard, "Let's go, you tricky big brother~"
"Miyu," Cyd gently called the name of the girl hiding behind the wall, too scared to come out.
"Everyone here is your friend."
Miyu, who had been hugging her knees, shivered.
"It's time for you to reach out too. As long as you don't let go, we absolutely won't let go either."
No, even if you did try to let go, there would be a bunch of fools clinging to you, refusing to let go.
Cyd chuckled and followed young Gil.
Miyu, who had been sitting behind the wall, slowly lifted her head and hesitantly stepped out in front of Illya and the others.
…
"Big brother, you're really carefree. Do you think Miyu revealing the truth will change anything?" Young Gil walked beside Cyd, arms crossed casually behind his head.
"Nothing will change," Cyd's lips curled slightly, "Miyu will definitely be happy."
"Alright~ Such naive words coming from you are oddly convincing," young Gil shrugged, "But after you see that world, I wonder if you can still say that."
"How will I know without trying?" Cyd flicked Archer's Class Card back to young Gil.
"So straightforward? Aren't you afraid I'll run off with it?" Young Gil narrowed his eyes.
"If you dare run..." Cyd pulled out Berserker's Class Card and waved it slightly.
"Tsk... that doesn't bring back good memories," young Gil clicked his tongue and drew EA from the golden ripples, "Ready to face that hopeless world? The Pure White Hero?"
"It's just a brief tour," Cyd casually tucked Berserker's Class Card into his pocket.
"I'm curious about your decision," young Gil casually swung EA. Like a picture being erased by a rubber, the world was torn open.
"What will you, as the embodiment of hope, choose to do?" young Gil opened his arms. His smile was polite, but Cyd could tell he was genuinely enjoying himself.
"The door to Miyu's world is open. Move forward, Pure White Hero~"
Cyd grabbed young Gil by the collar, "You're coming with me. Otherwise, I can't come back."
"Fair enough~" young Gil shrugged helplessly, allowing Cyd to carry him into the rift.
The smell of humanity... almost nonexistent...
The moment they entered Miyu's world, Cyd immediately felt something was off. It was too quiet—no one was walking the streets.
"Shall we ask the owner of that castle?" young Gil pointed casually to the conspicuous fortress in the distance.
Cyd narrowed his eyes as he began to observe his surroundings while heading toward the castle.
If there had been any people around, he could have gleaned some information from them about this world, but there was no one.
There was only one conclusion he could draw.
Cyd stopped in front of the castle.
"This world has no hope."
A kaleidoscopic magic array unfolded, and from it emerged a disheveled middle-aged man.
"Oh my, the big boss shows up right away?" Young Gil narrowed his eyes. "Well, I guess it makes sense. All your underlings are already down. It's just you left, Darius Ainsworth."
"Beatrice and Angelica lost? Well, it doesn't matter. I'm just here to say hello," Darius spread his hands, indifferent.
"Hello?" Cyd narrowed his eyes.
"That's right, just a greeting. I know the thing is with you, and I'll take it back. But until then..." Before Darius could finish speaking, he jumped back into his magic array. A bolt of lightning shot through the spot where he had just stood.
"Until then, you can hold onto it."
"He ran away," young Gil spread his hands.
"Tsk, I really want to drag him out of there," Cyd lowered his staff.
"Not worth it, not worth it. They're always like that. But you have another reason for being here, don't you?" Young Gil rubbed his belly. "I'm a bit hungry. I think I saw a ramen shop earlier. Come find me there when you're done."
"Ha~" Cyd sighed, then punched through the castle wall and made his way down a dark corridor that seemed to lead to a dungeon.
There was only one cell, and inside it was a prisoner of this world.
Cyd punched through the iron door, forcibly pulling it off its hinges.
A red-haired young man, weak and battered, struggled to lift his head and looked up at Cyd standing in the light.
"Just as I promised that girl," Cyd bent down and extended his hand to the youth.
"I'm here to save you."
