I Will Eventually Embark On The Path Of No Return Called A Hero

Chapter 256: Chapter 14. Miyu's Enrollment

[Arc4] - 14. Miyu's Enrollment

---

A girl bathed in moonlight held a pillow and cautiously watched the white-haired young man sitting on the sofa in the living room.

"What's the matter?" Cyd tilted his head. "Can't sleep?"

"Mm," Miyu softly replied, "Can I sit beside you?"

"Sure, but you'll have to go back to bed afterwards," Cyd chuckled and patted the empty spot beside him.

Miyu nodded and sat beside Cyd, her delicate face buried in the pillow. Cyd leaned back on the sofa, quietly waiting for this mysterious girl to open up to him.

"Are you… really the Pure White Hero?" After a long while, Miyu finally raised her head and looked at Cyd.

"If it's the Pure White Hero…" Cyd raised his hand and gently placed it on Miyu's head, "Can he save you?"

"I… I don't know," Miyu closed her eyes.

"Then try to believe in me," Cyd smiled, using his fingers to lift the corners of Miyu's lips into a smile. "I will save you."

"W-why?" Miyu bit her lip.

"I can't ignore someone who's fallen in front of me, especially since I have the ability to help them," Cyd said as he softly rubbed Miyu's face. "If I can, why wouldn't I?"

Miyu stared blankly at Cyd.

[A hero who can save people, lead them, and give them hope— a true partner of justice.]

That person once gazed at the sky, telling her about his dream.

[I want to be someone like that!]

It wasn't because he was so great or powerful, but because his gentleness made people want to admire him, want to follow him.

If it were him, surely…

"Please… save…"

Miyu's long-held tension finally released, and with it came an overwhelming wave of exhaustion. Unable to resist, she closed her eyes and leaned against Cyd.

"I heard your wish loud and clear," Cyd whispered as he held her.

Being a hero didn't matter—he simply wanted to save Miyu.

"I will take back the life that belongs to you, the life you deserve!"

That day, Miyu overslept.

It was because she felt too comfortable, as if she had returned to her old home. The warmth made her reluctant to leave.

"Miyu, it's time to get up," Cyd gently poked Miyu's face.

"Mm…" Miyu instinctively pulled the blanket over her face.

"Seriously, being willful is a privilege of children," Cyd chuckled as he gently pulled the sleepy Miyu up and carried her out of the room.

"Mr. Cyd, leave it to me," Gray eagerly offered, reaching out her hand. "I'll help Miyu wash up."

"Thank you," Cyd carefully set Miyu down.

"It's no trouble," Gray shook her head while holding the washing supplies. "Master often leaves the house half-asleep."

El-Melloi II… Could it be that you're really just bad at life?

Sitting at the dining table, Cyd glanced thoughtfully at El-Melloi II, who was dressed in a formal suit, looking all dignified.

"What?" El-Melloi II raised an eyebrow.

"Nothing, it's just that at this hour, you'd usually still be dead asleep," Cyd said, shrugging as he wiped the crumbs from Miyu's lips.

"I have important business today," El-Melloi II grimaced.

"A new game release?"

"I'm taking care of Miyu's school enrollment!" El-Melloi II snapped, crossing his legs in irritation.

"You think I only care about new game releases?"

Cyd glanced at a poster pinned to the wall, noting that today happened to be the release date for a new game.

Since arriving in Fuyuki City, he'd had the odd impression that El-Melloi II had broken free from a cage and was now indulging in complete freedom.

Night and day were reversed, and he was addicted to video games. Cyd had begun to wonder if the dignified El-Melloi II was long gone.

"It's just a coincidence," El-Melloi II muttered, covering his face. "Last night, I checked and found that Homurahara Elementary School is the closest."

"I already know everything they teach," Miyu said seriously after sipping some milk. "At least place me in a university."

"But Miyu, the only friends you'll find are there. They may not be mature yet, but they'll grow alongside you," Cyd said as he gently patted Miyu's head. "School is not just about knowledge, but also about companionship."

"Companions?" Miyu tilted her head. "Can they help me?"

"Yes, they certainly will."

Miyu nodded in understanding—at least somewhat.

"If we're done eating, it's time to go," El-Melloi II pulled on his leather gloves, looking as serious as if he were heading into battle. "Let's send Miyu off to school."

"Understood!" Gray echoed his seriousness.

Are you two going to destroy the school…?

Cyd's mouth twitched.

Perhaps influenced by El-Melloi II and Gray's serious demeanor, Miyu also put on a determined expression.

"I'll do my best!"

"Don't push yourself too hard," Cyd sighed.

He hadn't taken Miyu's talk about going straight to university seriously, thinking it was just childlike talk. However…

"Um…" The principal of Homurahara Elementary School awkwardly held up some test papers, each one more perfect than the last.

The tests were supposed to assess the academic level of this newly transferred student, but now the principal was wondering whether the other students could even keep up with her.

Miyu calmly held Cyd's hand.

She didn't want to trouble him or embarrass him, so she had completed the tests seriously. But for her, no matter how seriously she took a problem like "1 + 1 equals 2," the answer came to her in an instant.

"As for which grade this student should be placed in… I'll leave it to you to decide," the principal said, decisively handing over the choice to Cyd and the others.

It wasn't exactly by the book, but El-Melloi II, disliking the hassle, had subtly suggested the idea to the principal, and so it became permissible.

Magic really is convenient...

Cyd sighed in relief before acting as he pleased.

Considering that Miyu should have a companion to go to and from school with, Cyd had her placed in the same class as Illya.

Led by a teacher, Cyd and the others arrived at the classroom door.

"Miyu, get along with everyone," Cyd patted her shoulder.

"It's fine. It's only a few years, and even if I don't get along with them, it'll be over soon," Miyu calmly pushed open the door to the classroom.

"But I want you to have a happy life in the future," Cyd said, his hands in his pockets as he watched her small figure. "So don't say such gloomy things—if it's your goal, make it happen."

"Is that your wish?" Miyu turned to look into Cyd's eyes.

Cyd smiled and nodded.

"Then… I'll do my best!"
