I Was Sold to My Mortal Enemy (Double Transmigrations)

Chapter 26

Shi Yi’s wounds were treated daily with gel ointment, and they healed quickly. The gauze that had covered his face was removed, revealing a few unsightly scars.

Aunt Hong expressed her concern, saying, “What if the scar remains on such a beautiful face?”

Shi Yi reassured her, explaining that the old scars on the original owner’s body had been removed by the dew gel. Therefore, this scar was insignificant, and he didn’t mind if it left a mark. He even wondered if a scar might add a touch of ruggedness to his appearance.

.

The autumn harvest had come and gone, and Pei Xing had been spending time with Shi Yi. Privately, he inquired about how Shi Yi had fallen.

Shi Yi’s response was in line with Pei Xing’s suspicions, although it was unclear when Shi Yi had offended Liu Yingying.

Pei Xing asked if Shi Yi had witnessed or interacted with any women who argued with him and whether he knew Liu Yingying.

“Liu Yingying? Who’s that?” Shi Yi was puzzled as to why he was being asked. Having been in the village for so long and never leaving except to go fishing with Song Ning, he hadn’t encountered any attractive girls.

When it came to disputes, he recalled the incident with the women who had insulted him when Song Ning was injured.

“Well about fighting, the last time Song Ning got injured, I met a group of older women and wives on my way back after delivering gummy candies to him. They pointed at me and called me a vixen. They also said that Song Ning was a heartless person who caused someone to become disabled, so I scolded them back.”

Pei Xing kissed him and said, “That was well done. Did anyone else say anything?”

Shi Yi scratched the back of his head, shook it, and said, “No, what else would they say? They were just a group of idle people with nothing better to do. They had no skill in arguing, and after a few words from me, they stopped talking.”

Pei Xing gently rubbed his head, realizing that it was likely Liu Yingying was behind the malicious intent.

.

In the past few days, Pei Xing had been accompanying Shi Yi. Although not obvious, he could sense that Shi Yi was in good spirits. He was looking forward to going to Baiyin City with him the next day.

However, just before dinner, an unexpected guest arrived at their doorstep. The moment she entered the yard, she started complimenting Pei Xing in a loud voice. Aunt Hong immediately on guard and looked at her with an unkind expression.

“Our young master is indeed wonderful, but he already has a wife. If you have no other business, please leave. We are about to have dinner.”

The woman’s expression froze, as she had not expected Aunt Hong to be so sharp. She saw an expressionless Pei Xing and pulled Aunt Hong with a smile, “Sister, don’t be so hasty chasing away a matchmaker. Are you trying to sabotage Master Juren’s marriage?”

Aunt Hong immediately laughed angrily, understanding the implications. The woman had been recruited by Village Chief Liu, likely enticed by the prospect of dozens of taels money.

Pei Xing’s eyes suddenly turned sharp, with a sneer he asked, “Oh, matchmaker? From which family?”

“It’s better for you to listen. I’m here for the village chief’s family girl. Everyone in the village knew that Miss Liu is gentle and kindhearted girl. She also an educated person, she is a good match with you, Master Pei. This girl is generous and doesn’t mind you raising another one. After the shuanger give birth to a child, he could be moved into another house.” The matchmaker thought, although the shuanger was beautiful it was hard for them to get pregnant.

There were a few men, especially scholars, who didn’t value children. After all, Miss Liu was the cousin of the county master. Her family background was higher than ordinary people, she also didn’t mind if her husband was raising another person. This was a very generous woman and a good marriage.

But she never expected that Pei Xing wasn’t like ordinary family.

Pei Xing looked at her, resembling a ferocious beast ready to pounce. He sneered, “The Liu family girl has a big face! Aunt Hong, please show our guest out!”

The woman was taken aback by the terrifying gaze from Pei Xing, her legs trembling as she stammered out a smile.

Aunt Hong was livid, seeing through the woman’s intention. She couldn’t believe that this girl had the audacity to arrange a marriage after just injuring someone. Aunt Hong shoved her out of the door, splashing a basin of dirty water on her, and continued berating her.

“Don’t try to bring some pickled radishes into our home. We find them repulsive, even though you may not. My young master’s wife is legally wedded to him in the government office, and he is the rightful wife. Where did you come from, you vile creature? That fox was envious of our wife’s good marriage, and now she is scheming against him. She is a despicable creature who only thinks of causing harm to others.”

After such commotion, the neighbors all knew about the matchmaker who was scolded out of a house. The matchmaker was so angry that she immediately turned around and entered the village chief’s house.

At this moment, the villagers became excited again. After dinner, news spread throughout the village about the village chief’s attempt to arrange a marriage for his daughter with Pei Xing and the matchmaker had been driven away.

Liu Yingying was infuriated at home after she heard the news.
