I Was Sold to My Mortal Enemy (Double Transmigrations)

Chapter 11

Lu Chao had no initial intention of writing poems; he simply sought an excuse to talk over.

“The depth of Brother Pei’s affection for someone is truly remarkable.”

Shi Yi chuckled nervously, at a loss for words. He glanced at the refined and graceful Wen Jun beside him and complimented them, “Brother Lu and Brother Wen make a perfect pair. One exudes rugged handsomeness, while the other embodies profound elegance.”

Indeed, their qualities complemented each other seamlessly, and this was not a problem for them.

Lu Chao shook his head, chuckling and reflecting on his own innocence. He knew he didn’t possess such a pure heart.

Liu Ling, who had witnessed the entire scene, sneered with disdain. She casted a scornful look at Shi Yi and arrogantly stated, “Just a small country shuanger, nothing more.” She then raised her scarlet lips.

Turning to Pei Xing, she added, “Young Master Pei, I hope you will consider this carefully and not jeopardize your future due to minor mistakes.”

Pei Xing remained unperturbed and responded firmly, “I am merely a person of limited abilities from the countryside. County Master Liu need not flatter me.”

Liu Ling frowned, pressing further, “Are you really going to decline the opportunity to join the Huxuan Iron Cavalry for the sake of a commoner?”

Pei Xing’s expression darkened as he spoke with a frigid tone, “The Huxuan Iron Cavalry belongs to the Holy Lord, and its soldiers must pass strict military examinations. County Master Liu, it is audacious for you to meddle in the selection of military generals within the imperial court. I recall that Prince Chengyang has many beautiful wives and concubines, I guess the county master has many relatives. You can ask the relatives to assist in the selection and determine if there are young talents who meet the county master’s expectations. Afterall, a family member will undoubtedly put forth his best effort for the county master. They should surpass a commoner like this Pei.”

This infuriated Liu Ling, causing her beautiful face to contort, displaying a malevolent and sinister expression. She directed a venomous glare at Pei Xing, her eyes akin to those of a poisonous snake.

She had never endured such humiliation in her life. If her mother had not insisted on treating this marriage with respect and securing it, she would not have paid any attention to a common villager, regardless of their extraordinary abilities.

Considering herself the daughter of a prestigious prince and as a county master, her willingness to lower her status for this marriage was a grand gesture. She almost burst in tears, the man was incapable of appreciating it and she felt deeply humiliated.

“I will remember what transpired today!” Liu Ling declared, casting a cold look at Shi Yi and threatening with a slight curl of her lips. “I’m eager to see how long your love can endure.”

Pei Xing held Shi Yi’s hand tightly and moved him behind as a protective measure.

Sensibly, Shi Yi refrained from making any comments, understanding that provoking this individual would lead to trouble for Pei Xing. In front of the aggressive figure, he behaved meekly.

Xiao Liu was shaken and frightened, his head trembling, and his body shivering.

After Liu Ling had finished her harsh words, she turned and departed, leading the group into the cabin.

.

As he watched Liu Ling walk away, Shi Yi let out a sigh of relief, gently withdrew his hand from Pei Xing’s grasp, and patted Xiao Liu’s trembling body.

Pei Xing affectionately ruffled Xiao Liu’s head in his arms.

Lu Chao’s expression appeared somewhat serious as he cautioned, “It might not be easy if you’ve offended them.”

Pei Xing didn’t seem overly concerned, replying, “It’s all right, I can handle it.”

Wen Jun couldn’t help but offer a word of caution, “It’s best to be cautious, especially with Shi Yi and Xiao Liu. That woman can be as vicious as a lunatic, biting anyone who crosses her path. Many have suffered at her hands.” Wen Jun shuddered at the memory of the days when he was harassed by her, saying, “It was like a nightmare. If not for Lu Chao’s protection, I might have met an untimely end.”

Observing Wen Jun’s reaction, Shi Yi raised an eyebrow and asked tentatively, “You’ve been harassed by her as well?”

Wen Jun was taken aback, his eyes filled with disgust. After being exposed, he felt a bit embarrassed and cleared his throat, admitting, “Once.”

Sighing, Shi Yi remarked, “It seems that beauty truly can be a curse.”

He then turned to Pei Xing and inquired, “I’ve heard that they used to target civilian women, but now they’re going after strong men. How do you feel about being targeted, strong man?”

Pei Xing clenched his teeth, staring at Shi Yi with a bright smile, “Not at all. If you’re interested, I can arrange for you to experience it firsthand.”

Shi Yi clicked his tongue twice, showing no fear at all, knowing that Pei Xing wouldn’t act recklessly in his current condition.

Lu Chao observed that both of them were contemplating mischief, and he paid no further attention to the matter. Knowing Pei Xing well, he considered this situation hardly worth mentioning to him.

Shi Yi’s response, however, surprised him. Most people, when they offended a noble person, were understandably anxious. It was the first time he had seen Shi Yi remained so composed and unflustered.

Seeing Lu Chao’s inquisitive gaze, Shi Yi furrowed his brow uneasily. After a moment of silence, he suddenly asked, “It’s understandable that a woman might rob a man, but why would she target a shuanger?” As he spoke, he seemed to be lost in thought, and his entire demeanor became more animated.

Wearing a look of disgust, he continued, “Eh, what a pervert!”

Pei Xing gazed at him helplessly.

Lu Chao and Wen Jun looked at each other in confusion. Why did Shi Yi think of perversion in this context?
