Chapter 13: Conqueror
Gimmick was walking through a wide corridor made of bricks. The corridor could fit three people side to side. He glanced at the walls, looking for any sign of a secret passageway. He took a sharp right and ended up in an empty room void of light except for the small light that hit the metal hinge on a chest. 'Wait a chest?' Gim walked to the chest and opened it up. He found 3 iron ingots, 5 golden carrots, and some blaze powder. 'Jackpot!' He stuffed the items into his backpack.
He squinted, trying to see if there was anything within the room or if it was enclosed on its own. He decided it was a waste of time so left the room and went back to where he had come from. The hellish hisses and sound of metal grinding together started to come back in the vicinity.
As he made it back to the cross road, he dug out some soul sand that had been laying behind the staircase. As he broke it, bright red wart-like plants fell out of the sand. He stored everything in his backpack. "Let's see." He looked at the three corridors in front of him. One was hidden behind the stairs, while the other two were directly beside the staircase. "I came in here through here." He pointed behind him. "I already went that way." He pointed to the left corridor. He went through the right corridor.
He didn't have to walk much until he entered a massive room. The air felt different, like the screams of adventurers were trapped in it. Gim raised his sword, noticing multiple black cages placed in different spots of the room. If he pretended he was using real life measurements, he'd say the room was about 20 feet by 20 feet, with a height of probably 50 feet. The floor was made of regular black stone, and the walls were reinforced with iron bars, along with the Nether bricks. He took a step forward and the black cages started glowing so bright, the room lit up completely and colored the walls orange. The cages made a buzzing sound and began smoking, a dark cloud forming above him from all the smoke.
Suddenly the cages stopped buzzing, and an army of Blazes was summoned. Gimmick counted a dozen, two dozen, three, four. 'Just how many are there?' He started feeling overwhelmed. To make matters worse, the black cages, which he finally realized were Blaze spawners poured out even more of the flaming creatures. Lucky for Gim, the room was big so the smoke wouldn't get in his way. Gimmick had other problems to deal with though. There were now about 100 Blazes in the room with him. They hissed angrily in a synchronized chorus, noticing Gim.
"Have to act fast!" Gim dashed forwards, sword in hand and diamond pickaxe in the other. A cluster of 10 Blazes braver than the others, flew towards him and they each shot 3 fireballs. He rolled out of the way various times, dodging the flaming projectiles easily. He slashed wildly in front of him, in a wide arc, damaging the Blazes, as they wailed in pain. 'Focus on the spawners.' He reminded himself. Now that the Blazes had initiated the attack, the rest of the Blazes spread out. Half of them decided to fly higher closer to the smoke, and the other half stayed floating near the floor.
'Damn it, they're everywhere!' Sure enough, the Blazes had moved around the entire room, now the place looked like a sky filled with floating lanterns. He flipped in the air, dodging another wave of fireballs from the original group of Blazes. He scowled, and continued running towards the nearest spawner. He lunged up and swung his pickaxe full force, bringing it down with great strength upon the spawner as it cracked into tiny pieces of black rubble. "One down, about 50 to go!" Gim noted.
He continued the same pattern, breaking the Blaze spawners one by one. Next thing he knew, there was only one left. However, the Blazes realized this and all moved towards it, in an attempt to protect their only chance of resurrection. Gim raced through, deflecting several fireballs back at the Blazes, unafraid. He had lived the Minecraft life for quite some time now. He knew the dangers that came with doing so. A loud clang and the sound of stone breaking could be heard. The final spawner was broken. He could finally kill the Blazes.
His mind went on autopilot, he fought the horde, swinging his sword at their heads and cracking his pickaxe, with blinding speed. He dodged, weaved, rolled, and flipped over dozens of fireballs. He jumped up high in the air, flipping upside down, and twisted his body, spinning like a saw blade, slicing multiple Blazes as he fell. The room reverberated with the sound of monsters dying. Gim fought like a demon.
When he fell back down, he landed on his head. He paid no mind and got back up, this time with more resolve and lots of fight left in him. He had brought down the numbers to half as he rapidly attacked. Throwing out three or four slices with one attack. He jumped up and stabbed one of the Blazes that was a little above the rest, as its remaining rods broke and it began disintegrating, he jumped to the next, ricocheting off the heads. He bounced to one head, sliced off its rods, bounced to the other, sliced more rods, and continued this pattern. The Blazes could barely even react, as they all started disappearing into nothing but pebbles of green essence and blaze rods. The final hiss was heard, and the room was littered with the remains of the hellish creatures.
Gim's adrenaline died down slightly, and he was able to process things on his own again. His white shirt was singed, where he had been grazed by a fireball. He looked around, breathing hard as the silence wafted through the room. With the amount of Blaze rods that were in the room, there was no reason to come back. He was done with Nether and could go back home, to the village. He lifted his sword and let out a mighty roar.
"I AM A CONQUEROR!"
