Chapter 11: Another dimension
The sun had finished setting, revealing a half moon, idle in the night sky, surrounded by many stars. The sound of undead creatures could be heard from a distance. A spider climbed the roof of a small shack in the village, in hopes of terrorizing the villagers. After a loud sound of metal thumping, with a hiss the spider was slayed, its essence breaking apart into many translucent pebbles of green and yellow.
Gim had finally crafted himself a sword; A perfect blade made completely out of diamonds with a wooden hilt. The blade was set seamlessly giving it a mirror-like surface. He held it in his hands and swung his sword side to side, testing out the way it felt. He could feel a sense of power radiating from it.
He was ready to step through the portal. He quickly went inside the old man's place and grabbed a few extra supplies that he thought he would need. He brought along a stack of bread, a wooden bow with a quiver of 50 arrows, and some iron boots. He equipped his boots and entered the portal without hesitation. He kept his sword gripped upon arrival. He didn't need a surprise attack as a warm welcome.
He landed in a fiery red stone area concaved to the side of an open area. Flames flickered on the ground, burning endlessly. He walked forward, more red stone lining his field of view. The place was divided into different levels. Above him further across he could see another open area of the stone. On his right was a steep rocky hill that led further downwards. To his left was a cliff which he had peered over. Below him was a pit of infinite bright orange lava. The thought of losing his foothold and falling into the pit made him queasy.
"Come on Gim, you've conquered the Nether over a dozen times." He said out loud, taking a step back from the ledge. He puffed up his chest, biting down any feelings of uncertainty and turned towards the opposite side of the ledge, jumping down the netherrack platform, making his way down.
