I Took the Heroine’s First Time in a Romance Fantasy Novel

Chapter 13

As Johan strode forward confidently, a Public Affairs Officer shouted.

“That guy may look small, but he’s clearly an Archdemon! There’s no way you can take him on alone!”

It’s true. An Archdemon requires at least three Arch Public Affairs Officers to subdue without losses.

An Arch Public Affairs Officer could take one down solo, but they’d have to brace for significant damage.

Yet, Johan was resolute.

“That thing is intelligent. Moreover, it can attack from a distance. Backing off together risks getting our ankles caught. Therefore, it would be better for me to hold it off here while you call for reinforcements. That way, our survival rates will be higher.”

Johan channeled his mana. Having hastily learned Archmage Magic to create a path earlier, his joints ached in protest.

“Hurry up. Before the route we worked so hard to clear gets filled with other demons.”

Bright blue mana swirled around his hands, creating gusts of wind as it whirled forcefully.

“I won’t die. I have no intention of dying here.”

“……”

The Public Affairs Officer who had reached out to Johan squeezed his eyes shut and turned away.

“I’ll call for support quickly.”

“Yes.”

“Let’s go!”

The officer grabbed the reins and created distance from Johan.

“Huuh.”

Johan took a deep breath, surveying his surroundings. Fallen Public Affairs Officers and Knights. Soldiers were present.

‘You all must have had families too.’

Grinding his teeth, he felt anger rise—not from witnessing death—but from the chaotic situation caused by that reckless Crown Prince.

‘Still, minimizing casualties is the best course of action here.’

He had no desire to become anyone’s hero, nor did he wish to sacrifice himself to save a complete stranger.

However, the fact that everyone would die due to the Crown Prince’s manipulations didn’t sit right with him.

Moreover, he couldn’t deny that part of the blame fell on him.

‘After all, it’s because that Crown Prince is crazier than I expected.’

Though the Crown Prince was the true villain, this was happening because of him, so he had to minimize others’ losses.

‘It’s a foolish endeavor, to say the least.’

Had everyone fought together, their chances of victory would have skyrocketed. With a mixed front line, using Archmage Magic would have been easier too.

But.

‘Then I wouldn’t be able to stick it to the Crown Prince.’

Johan intended to slay the Archdemon and bring its head back as a big gift for Fedelian.

That fool would surely think he died here.

‘This should be fun. I wonder what your reaction will be.’

What kind of change would appear on Fedelian’s usually composed face? Johan couldn’t help but smile.

‘After all, I decided to confront him head-on. I will execute my plan without fail.’

Just as Johan was gradually gathering his senses, the Archdemon stirred.

With the head of a deer and a human body, it grinned wickedly and tilted its head.

“Kruk?”

It seemed to be questioning Johan, as if asking if he could truly manage this alone. Johan twisted his mouth into a wry smile.

“As the husband of the female protagonist, shouldn’t I be able to handle this much?”

Johan clasped his hands together and formed a seal. The mana swirling around his hands generated great power as it mixed with the absorption mana.

This would be the strongest spell he could currently use.

“Chaos, the shape born from the origin of creation. Within it, birth and extinction shall become one, and tranquility shall not exist within the infinite boundaries.”

Wuuuuuuuuugh!!

As he channeled his mana into the spell, the absorption mana consumed it, increasing the power of rotation.

Around the center point, the mana formed a spiral shape, creating powerful winds.

Johan directed his hand at the Archdemon. His entire being trembled with the vibrating mana in his fingertips, but there was no major issue. He just needed to release it.

Archmage Magic.

Spiral Break.

Kwaaaaaaa–!

A spiraling sphere of output surrounded the central absorption sphere, rapidly rotating.

The absorption sphere pulled in nearby objects, grinding them apart as it trembled with energy.

As the rotating output sphere sped rapidly toward the Archdemon,…

“Kruk…?!”

The Archdemon seemed to instinctively sense danger and curled up, trying to flee, but it was already too late.

As the sphere approached the demon, an explosion erupted.

Kwaaaahhh──!

A massive surge of mana created a storm that shattered everything around it.

The ground cracked, rocks flew like dust, and the dirt clouded the sky.

At the explosion’s epicenter, the absorption sphere relentlessly ground the Archdemon’s flesh.

It mercilessly pulled in and destroyed everything nearby.

“Gwaaaah!”

Due to the flying dust, the Archdemon’s scream echoed from somewhere unseen in front of him.

Spiral Break was the technique that amassed the caster’s mana to the extreme and slammed it down.

It was a magic that quickly turned someone unaccustomed to magic, like Johan, into an Archmage.

“Hah, hah……”

Having used such a massive spell in succession, the mana consumption was off the charts. He felt like he was about to collapse.

Johan gasped desperately, leaning his hand against his knee.

‘Don’t think this is over. Show yourself quickly.’

Johan narrowed his eyes, staring toward the direction of the Archdemon. He could see the land, cratered by the explosion.

Yet, the Archdemon was nowhere to be found. It must have sustained serious injuries from the earlier attack and was recuperating somewhere.

‘It is intelligent, after all. It wouldn’t just let me go after taking a hit.’

Johan panted, wiping the sweat trickling down his temples.

Then at that moment.

“Krakarak!”

Emerging from the forest, demon beasts surrounded Johan. They were all low-grade beasts, around levels three and four, but their numbers were substantial.

“I don’t have time to deal with these minions.”

Johan rolled up his sleeves and created an absorption sphere. The sphere’s center continuously devoured the mana flowing around it, rotating in place.

If caught in the rotating sphere, whatever touched it would twist, then be sucked into the center and torn apart.

In fact, it was hard to call this a spell. It was more like a concentrated mass of mana created through the manipulation of raw mana.

This was a technique only Johan could employ because of the sheer volume of mana he possessed and his refined affinity for it.

Distortion Sphere.

Johan moved his hands. The large sphere with a spiraling rotation changed its course to follow his hands.

Kwaaaaaah-!

“Krakarak…!”

“Kyah!”

As it swept across the ground, the rushing beasts were ripped apart and vanished without a trace as they were pulled into the center.

“Huuh.”

In an instant, Johan had eliminated the small fry and stared ahead. The half-desecrated Archdemon was glaring at him with its remaining eye.

“Let’s give it a go.”

He’d take it down here and bring back its head to prove his worth.

At the same time, he could present a huge gift to Fedelian, who would think he had already won.

If that happened, the threat of the schemes he was plotting would only heighten.

Still, giving a hint that he knew the culprit would help tie things up for a while.

“Krakarak!!”

Just then, an Archdemon charged at Johan from the side, one arm digging into the ground, saliva flying in all directions from its excitement.

Calmly, Johan muttered.

“Book of Calamities.”

With a flip, a swirling cluster of white light gathered in front of him, forming a book.

Johan fixed his gaze on the book, taking in its sparkling patterns.

The technique that creates a frozen sea from the deep chill that invades bone and flesh.

This cold energy permeated right down to his core, leaving him extremely vulnerable.

At that moment, the Book of Calamities told him that there was no better technique to suppress the beast right here and now.

Johan smiled slyly and shouted quietly.

“Frosty Ocean!”

At the forward base, units that had moved to various dungeons were already returning.

“Strange. How can there be no demons in the dungeon forest? It’s downright eerie.”

Fedelian said casually, reclining in a chair at the center of the forward base.

“Is it the work of the magic practitioners?” a Public Affairs Officer asked. He appeared perplexed, having likely never encountered such a situation before.

“The only ones who can manipulate demons are those practitioners, so that seems likely.”

Fedelian shrugged and flashed a sly smile. He then turned to look at the fidgeting Fransia and asked,

“Princess Ferbache, what are you so worried about?”

“…….”

“Now you’re not even answering.”

In truth, Fedelian knew why Fransia was anxious.

All the units had returned, but the ones sent to scout the south had yet to.

‘How refreshing. Who told you to defy my will like that?’

Johan Harsen was dead. Killed by an Archdemon. It would be strange for him to be alive.

The creature manipulated by the magic practitioners was still a young Archdemon, yet it still bore the title of ‘Archdemon.’

There was no way someone who had just stepped into the threshold of Archmage Magic could handle it.

‘So now it remains to exploit the weakened Princess Ferbache’s vulnerabilities.’

Just then, a commotion erupted on the path towards the south.

“Stop! Archmage Ferbache!”

“Move aside! I have to go now!”

“Renokhonan’s Archdemon Knight is already going to assist…!”

“I have to go!”

Franzia was desperate. It wouldn’t have been surprising if she had broken into tears. While Fedelian was annoyed by this display once more.

‘Forget it. It doesn’t matter. After all, he’s dead.’

Fedelian stepped toward her and pulled her arm.

“Princess Ferbache. Calm down. I’m sure he will be fine.”

“Don’t touch me! You’re filthy!”

The word filthy made Fedelian’s body tremble.

“Such words only hurt me, you know?”

“I meant to hurt you.”

Franzia glared at the knight guarding the path heading south, her fists clenched and eyes wide.

“I’ll say it again. Move aside. I need to find Johan.”

“Ah…”

The knight sighed, scratching the back of his head, looking truly troubled. In this situation, where an Archdemon was present, the prudent choice would be to stay gathered and observe, making it reasonable to keep Fransia from rushing off.

Fedelian tried to calm her down with words.

“Franzia.”

“Don’t call me by my name so casually!”

Franzia responded coldly, her fists tightly clenched.

“I’ll say it one more time. Move aside! I need to find Johan!”

“Ah….”

The knight ran a hand across his forehead, letting out a sigh.

As the argument between Fransia and the knight continued, time trickled by.

Fedelian’s eyes caught sight of figures returning to the forward base from the south.

“What…?”

Peering closely at the returning figures, Fedelian couldn’t believe his eyes for a moment.

Among the Public Affairs Officers who had gone for assistance, there was Johan Harsen, carrying the head of an Archdemon.
