Lucina POV
“I can’t focus.”
I’m trying to train and I’m trying to study but I just can’t focus. Argh. Why the hell am I still thinking about her? There was something weird about her the last time I saw her. Then, she just disappears for a whole week. There is something fishy going on here but I just don’t know what it is.
“Argh! Fuck it.”
There is nothing else I can do. My mind is too busy to do anything else. So, I decide to walk outside.
“Hey, Lucina!”
As I arrive at the entrance of our dorm, Juliet calls out to me.
“Yo.”
“Whatcha doing?”
“Going on a walk.”
“What!? Lucina, going out by herself!?”
“Hey, what’s that supposed to mean?”
“Hehehe. It’s just a joke. I have something to do so see you later!”
“Yeah, see you later.”
“Oh! Don’t get yourself kidnapped again!”
“That was one time!”
Juliet ran off. Tsk, officially only the frost girl and I were kidnapped. I didn’t really ask for her name but we found out each other’s since we were the only victims. I did want to talk about that annoying one but that frost girl was staring at me like she was ready to attack. Weirdly enough, nobody spoke up about her and she was officially not involved. The kid that kept following her disappeared too. Does she have something to do with that? Nah, probably not.
“Ah.”
I look up and I am in the same café that I usually see Sylvia in. She isn’t there every Sunday but I do see her from time to time. This time, I see her there. It was the first time I saw her since we got kidnapped more than a week ago. If anyone would know anything, it would be her. So, I decided to approach her.
“Morning.”
“Good morning.”
A brief greeting as usual. There were rumors that they were busy on family business which is why the duke’s daughter and her maid were not around the past two weeks. But I knew otherwise, I was there with her after all. So, in order to calm myself I need to find out. I stare at her as we both do not talk.
“Is there something?”
“No. It’s just you haven’t been in school for the past week, right?”
“Yes. I have been predisposed with some business.”
“Business?”
“Yes. There are things that we must take care of.”
“You mean your mistress?”
“Of course.”
“It’s a good thing, then?”
“Yes. Mistress finally woke up, after all.”
Throughout our conversation she was happy. I knew it was something related to that mistress of hers and she finally slipped.
“Woke up?”
“Forget I said anything.”
She quickly stands up and hands something to the waitress and leaves. However, my mind was still occupied. Woke up? What does that mean? She’s been sleeping the whole time? Why? Is this related to the weird feeling I had when I last saw her? But she looked fine. She didn’t have any injuries. She was even annoying as usual. So, what did she mean? My thoughts were spiraling thinking about it. I didn’t even realize that the day had already ended and there was school.
“Crap!”
I looked at the time and rushed to get ready. I didn’t even know how I got to my room and how I slept but the words were still stuck in my head. Woke up? Why? What the hell happened to you? I hid by the school gate and waited for a certain annoying person to show up. Once she shows up, everything will be fine. Whatever I am thinking would be gone and I could go on my way. However, she never appeared. I was in class and I still couldn’t stop thinking about her. I need answers and there is only one person who I can be sure will answer me.
“Frost, can we talk?”
Sylvia is still not in school and Melanie probably won’t tell me anything so both of them are out. Which means only Blanche Frost, the one who was kidnapped with me is the only person I can ask.
“Hmm? I suppose I have time.”
I led her to an empty classroom. The only reason I knew it was empty is because that girl brought me here before.
“Do you know what happened to her?”
I dislike saying her name. It annoys me for some reason.
“Am I correct in assuming that the her that you speak of is the person that was supposed to be with us but was not?”
“Yes.”
“I see. I currently do not know. However, I can give you my guess if that is, okay?”
“Sure, go for it.”
“Due to the recent incident, I would say that she is currently recuperating.”
“Hah? Why would she need to recuperate? Both of us were fine.”
“Unlike us, she has been injured. I believe it would take some time for her to recover.”
“Injured? How?”
“You did not realize?”
“Huh? What do you mean?”
“Do you remember what happened when she removed the devices from us?”
“Yeah. My magic reacted and burst when she did that.”
“Yes. And my own unleashed frost. That has affected her.”
“Huh? But we were fine.”
“Do remember that our magic returned immediately, helping in curing our wounds. However.”
Before she could finish, it clicked.
“She still had hers so the damage couldn’t.”
“Yes. Since it took some time for the keys, it would have affected her more even if she has magic. But that is not all, did you not notice that she was already in bad shape?”
“What do you mean?”
“There were weird indentions on her clothes. Mainly on the stomach area. Her clothes were also ruffled in the few places. It would be safe to presume that she was involved in a scuffle beforehand.”
“You mean?”
“Yes. She had fought with one of the men to get the keys. In said fight, she was hit several times by her stomach area. Do take note that with the sealing devices, she would have no magic which means she fought against someone with magic enhancements without magic herself.”
“What the hell!?”
I didn’t know what to do but I ran out of the classroom. I ran around and tired myself out. It was already time for class but I ignored it. I slumped down by a tree and looked up.
“I don’t get it.”
Why is she like this? She is so annoying, so irritating, so infuriating. She was injured in that moment so why couldn’t she ask for my help? No, wait. Why am I thinking like that? She’s annoying, she gets on my nerves and she always messes with me. So, why do I care so much?
