"Uchiha Sasuke, I hope the next time we meet, we will be friends and not enemies. Most importantly, never lose the connections you value. It's the key to beating me today, and it's also the most valuable thing you possess."
Seeing that he was about to leave, Bai Qiang braced herself and spoke to Sasuke in a complex manner. If possible, she hadn't really wanted to kill him before, but Sasuke's explosive power had left her with no choice. Now, standing at this point, she sincerely offered him these words of consolation.
[Bai's suggestion has been detected and the C-rank reward has been triggered.]
[Quest: Protect the Bond; Reward: 0.3 Chakra.]
Sasuke's pupils constricted as he heard the system notification in his ear. His gaze softened as he looked at Shiro. In that moment, he was sincerely grateful for the things he once hated, especially the idea of bonds and connections. He could understand now why they were so important.
"You don't have to worry about that," Sakura interjected, stepping forward. "Of course Sasuke-kun will protect our bond! Besides, he doesn't love you."
Before Sasuke could respond, Sakura glanced cautiously at Shiro and spoke up. She had noticed the change in Sasuke's eyes and was determined not to let Shiro, a powerful and beautiful kunoichi, lead Sasuke astray. Sasuke's lips twitched slightly, and he nodded in agreement with Sakura.
"Yes?" Shiro smiled, surprised. "I see, you like Sasuke, right? However... you're jealous of the wrong person. I am a man!"
Bai's statement caused both Naruto and Sakura to look at each other in shock, their eyes wide. They were caught off guard, as Shiro's teasing tone seemed to have embarrassed them both.
Zabuza, having overheard the exchange, spoke coldly, not bothering to change his expression. "Let's go, Bai." He turned without looking back, carrying Shiro as they made their way down the bridge.
Naruto couldn't help but complain, looking bewildered. "This Zabuza guy is so arrogant after failing his mission... And why is such a beautiful girl turning into a boy? This is ridiculous!"
Sakura nodded in agreement, still unsure whether Shiro had been lying or not.
Mission Completed
[Mission completed, and you will receive the following reward: Ninja Technique: Mist Blink…]
[Quest completed and reward: 0.3 Chakra…]
While Sasuke, Sakura, and Naruto exchanged words, Sasuke listened carefully to the system's notification, and once again, his chakra increased. His chakra, enhanced by the double magatama Sharingan, surged with more power. Sasuke couldn't help but marvel at how quickly his chakra had grown, now reaching a full 1 chakra card.
The Mist Blink technique, once activated, allowed the user to move at high speed within a fog, using the mist and silent killing techniques to make attacks unpredictable. Sasuke understood its significance, feeling the surge of power within him.
As the group continued to discuss the mission, Kakashi looked over at Naruto and Sakura with a slight smile. He was relieved that they had successfully completed the mission, despite the difficulties they had faced along the way.
"No one will bother to build the bridge now that Kado is dead," Kakashi said, speaking to Tazuna. "You're lucky this time, Mr. Tazuna. Hope really has come to the Land of Waves."
Kakashi removed the forehead protector covering his Sharingan, relaxed with a sigh, and allowed himself a brief moment of peace. He was finally able to rest after the tense mission. It wasn't a bad C-level mission in the end, with Sasuke and Naruto showing great progress.
Tazuna, feeling a sense of gratitude, smiled at the team. "Grandfather, we're here to help you," Inari said as he ran toward his grandfather with the other villagers, holding farming tools and weapons.
"We really have hope now..." Tazuna looked at the villagers with a broad smile. They had all come together to work on finishing the bridge, giving the Land of Waves new hope.
Nightfall and a New Training Request
After a grand dinner, Sasuke approached Kakashi's room later that night. "Sensei, I want to learn the Thunder Release ninjutsu."
Kakashi raised an eyebrow, surprised by Sasuke's direct approach. Sasuke had become much stronger during the mission, his Sharingan and chakra enhanced. Kakashi wasn't sure how to respond but knew he would have to provide some guidance.
"Chidori?" Kakashi frowned, clearly not interested. "That technique requires changes to your chakra's nature and form. It's an advanced A-level technique. You're still too weak for it."
Sasuke's eyes darkened at Kakashi's refusal. He had hoped to learn Chidori to have an advantage against Orochimaru, but now that path seemed more difficult than ever. However, he wasn't about to give up so easily. He needed to find another way.
"Well… If you've activated your double magatama Sharingan, then from tomorrow, I'll start teaching you genjutsu," Kakashi added, noticing the disappointed look on Sasuke's face. "I'll teach you the Sharingan genjutsu techniques. If we have time, I'll also teach you another B-level Lightning Release technique."
Sasuke, though a little disappointed, accepted the offer. Kakashi's teaching would certainly help him grow stronger, but Sasuke was still thinking about something else. He had learned enough from his experiences, and he knew he could rely on himself more than anyone else. Instead of depending on others, he would focus on perfecting Rasengan.
The Path to Rasengan
Time passed quickly. A month had gone by, and the bridge was now fully constructed. Sasuke, Naruto, and Sakura had all dedicated themselves to training, each of them focused on improving their abilities. Sakura, following Sasuke's advice, had asked Kakashi to teach her C-level water techniques and the Kirigakure techniques. Kakashi agreed, seeing how serious Sakura had become about improving.
Meanwhile, Sasuke had learned two genjutsu techniques from Kakashi: D-level Naraku no Jutsu and C-level Fox Heart Jutsu. He was no longer interested in Kakashi's B-level Lightning Release ninjutsu, as he felt his focus was better spent elsewhere.
During this time, Sasuke secretly began training to master Rasengan. However, completing the Rasengan with one hand was no easy task. Sasuke had already learned all the steps and tricks, but even with his Sharingan, he struggled. Without the assistance of shadow clones, completing Rasengan was nearly impossible. Even with his considerable talent, Sasuke could not complete the final step.
This failure left Sasuke feeling discouraged, but he wasn't ready to give up. The challenge only fueled his determination. He knew that mastering Rasengan was crucial if he wanted to be strong enough to face his future enemies.
Farewell to the Land of Waves
The day to leave the Land of Waves had finally arrived. Kakashi stood atop the newly completed bridge and waved to the villagers across from him. Sasuke and Sakura stood beside him, ready to leave. They had completed their mission, and now it was time to move on.
"Hahaha... Thank you so much! We wouldn't have succeeded without you," Tazuna called out with a smile as he waved to the team.
"Goodbye, Inari…" Naruto said as he waved at Inari, his eyes filled with emotion. Despite their differences, they had formed a bond.
As the group walked away, Kakashi, Sasuke, and Sakura headed back toward the village. Naruto stayed behind for a moment, giving Inari a final wave before turning and following the others.
Their time in the Land of Waves had come to an end, but their journey was far from over. Sasuke knew that with each step, he was becoming stronger, and he would continue to grow, no matter the challenges ahead.
