I Received System to Become Dragonborn

Chapter 712: Explosion

The battle escalated instantly.

Arlyn and Sylra decided to move in unison. They quickly closed in on Laston.

Arlyn's twin swords gleamed under the flickering red lights, striking in rapid succession at Laston's body. Sylra moving behind Laston, her daggers laced with a toxin potent enough to paralyze even a large beast.

Laston merely smirked, his cybernetic eye flashing ominously.

"Ah, another guest has arrived," he mused, sidestepping Arlyn's first strike with unnatural ease. "Forest Elves, judging by your aura. How quaint."

Then, without warning, his body pulsed with more energy. The circuits lining his cybernetic limbs glowed brighter and he moved. His move become faster than before.

Arlyn barely managed to block the counterattack, sparks flying as Laston's augmented strength sent him sliding back.

Sylra twisted around and drove her dagger toward the gaps in Laston's armor. But before she could land the hit, a shimmering force field erupted around him, deflecting the attack.

The recoil sent her skidding backward.

Laston chuckled. "You're fast, but you're fighting against something beyond your understanding. Maybe if I was still a normal Elf, I will already be having a hard time already."

His mechanical arm shifted, opening panels along his forearm. A pulse of energy formed in his palm then he fired.

A shockwave of compressed energy blasted outward, forcing Arlyn and Sylra to leap aside. The impact shattered the floor beneath them in instant, sending debris flying. That shows how strong his power was at this point.

Aerchon, seeing an opening, surged forward.

His sword now glowing brighter with Magic. He slashed downward with the force of a thunderclap.

Laston raise his arm in time, but the force of the impact sent him crashing backward, his boots skidding against the metal floor.

Laston, still smirking despite the dent in his cybernetic armor, let out a low chuckle.

Deep underground, amidst the looming cybernetic soldiers, Saeldir and Vael had no time left.

The machines had awakened. Their crimson eyes burned through the darkness, their metallic limbs moving with eerie synchronization.

One by one, their joints whirred to life, the cold sound of metal grinding against metal echoing through the chamber.

But Saeldir and Vael did not hesitate. They had already gathered their Magic.

"Now!" Saeldir commanded.

Vael who already gripping his bow and aimed, loosed a volley of arrows infused with powerful piercing Magic. He attacked the first wave of approaching constructs.

The enchanted projectiles pierced through their metallic plating but the machines can not feel pain so some still moving even after their limbs were or torseo severed.

At the same time, Saeldir unleashed his spell. A storm of Magic energy erupted from his hands, spiraling toward the containment structure.

The swirling artificial core trembled under the assault, its unstable energy flickering violently. But then,a defensive barrier activated around the core. The energy attack was absorbed into the containment field, nullifying the most of its destructive energy.

Saeldir's eyes widened. "What?"

Before he could react, the machines advanced. One lunged toward him, its blade-like arm slicing downward. He barely managed to conjure a barrier in time, the force of the impact sending cracks through his Magical shield.

Vael gritted his teeth. "Saeldir, we don't have time for this!"

More machines surged forward. They were outnumbered, and the core was more protected than they had anticipated.

Saeldir clenched his fists. The mission had just become infinitely more dangerous. But they couldn't afford to fail.

"Use the artifact now!" Saeldir's voice rang out through the chamber.

Vael didn't hesitate.

"Alright!" He reached into his pouch, retrieving the artifact — the same kind that had been used to destroy the metal constructs that Laston called Eryndor.

Channeling his Magic into it, Vael felt the artifact respond and start pulsing with energy.

As if sensing the shift in power, the constructs turned their glowing red eyes toward him. Their movements became eerily synchronized, a metallic hum resonating through the chamber as they surrounded the two Elves from every direction.

Their advance was faster now, their steps loosk relentless.

With a sharp breath, Vael tossed the artifact onto the ground. The moment it made contact a surge of Magic erupted from it. An explosion of shimmering energy happened and that spread outward in a wave. The entire chamber trembled as the energy pulse washed over the constructs.

Then, silence happened.

The metal soldiers stood frozen in place, their eyes dimming, their bodies locked in mid-motion. The artifact's power had stopped them completely for now.

Saeldir exhaled sharply, his grip tightening. "It worked. Now, the power source!"

Vael nodded. Without wasting another second, they both turned their focus toward the massive containment structure at the center of the chamber. The defensive barrier still flickered around it but now was their only chance.

Gathering their energy once more, Saeldir and Vael unleashed their attacks in unison.

Saeldir's Magic surged forward in a concentrated blast. His power tearing through the air.

Vael drew an arrow, imbuing it with every ounce of destructive Magic he could muster, and let it fly.

The combined force of their assault struck the core's protective barrier with immense force. Cracks formed instantly, light spilling from within as the structure strained against the impact.

Then a deafening crack echoed through the underground chamber.

The barrier shattered.

The unstable energy within the core pulsed wildly, its containment now broken. Sparks and surges of raw power erupted from its surface, the entire structure trembling as if on the verge of collapse.

"One more attack!" Saeldir said.

Vael, already preparing his next shot, nodded.

Vael released another Magic-infused arrow just as Saeldir unleashed a powerful surge of energy. Their combined attack streaked through the air like a shooting star, striking the exposed core.

BOOM!

The moment of impact sent violent tremors through the chamber. The core cracked, its unstable energy surging outward before a massive explosion erupted.

Blinding light consumed everything as raw energy burst free, ripping through machinery and walls.

The force sent Saeldir and Vael flying backward, crashing against the metallic floor. Smoke and debris filled the air, the chamber trembling from the devastation.
