I Received System to Become Dragonborn

Chapter 711: Already

Saeldir and Vael knew they couldn't waste time. Every second they stood idle brought them closer to disaster.

With Saeldir's invisibility spell still cloaking them, they moved swiftly. Without hesitation they leapt from the upper railing and descending in near silence toward the cold metallic floor below.

The vast chamber was filled with the looming figures of cybernetic constructs with metallic bodies stood motionless yet radiating an eerie sense that they could be activated at any point.

Their hollow eyes that not been lit yet faced forward, rows upon rows of them standing in perfect formation. Just awaiting the command to bring destruction upon the Elves.

As soon as they landed, Saeldir closed his eyes again then expanding his Magic Sense. The sensation rippled outward, his consciousness weaving through the dense network of energy threads that pulsed through the machines and the walls surrounding them.

He could feel the artificial cores embedded within each construct, each humming with power that still in their dormant stage. But more importantly, he was searching for something greater, which is the true source of this entire operation.

His mind pushed past the layers of interference, filtering through the various energy signatures at a matter of seconds, until finally he found it.

He found a massive surge of power deeper within the chamber.

It was pulsating like a heart. It was an unstable but immensely powerful core. Which likely the central control unit for the entire army.

"That's it…" he muttered under his breath, opening his eyes. "The source is buried further in, beyond those machines."

Vael remained crouched beside him, his keen eyes scanning their surroundings, his bow gripped firmly in his hands. He could feel the weight of something vast and dangerous pressing against them like a silent threat. But he can not pinpoint where is that exactly.

"Then lets destroy it fast," Vael said in a low voice. "Before any of these damn things wake up. Or anyone shows up."

Saeldir nodded.

The two moved with practiced precision, slipping between the unmoving constructs. Their movements remained swift and silent, avoiding unnecessary disturbances.

As they approached the deeper section of the chamber, the air around them shifted. There was something unnatural in the atmosphere now, an almost a suffocating pressure.

Saeldir could feel the density of Magic and energy increasing as they neared their target.

Then, at the far end of the room, they saw it.

A massive containment structure stood before them, thickly reinforced with layered plating and glowing with veins of unstable energy.

Inside, suspended in a transparent cylindrical chamber, was a swirling mass of Magic-infused energy. Saeldir was sure that it was an artificial core of energy. But it was unlike anything he had seen before.

It was a combination of the Magic he know of. It feels raw, chaotic, and barely contained within the containment field holding it in place.

But one thing was clear, this was the true heart of Laston's army. The power source that connected and controlled every single construct in the room. At least before their were deployed.

Vael tightened his grip on his bow. "That thing is radiating too much power. If we destroy it, it could trigger a massive reaction. Are you sure?"

Saeldir narrowed his eyes, already calculating their next move. "We don't have a choice. If we leave this intact, these machines will march against our people. We end this now."

Vael exhaled sharply, then nodding. "Then let's do it."

But just as Saeldir raised his hands, channeling his Magic toward the core, a sudden shift in the air made both of them freeze.

A low mechanical hum vibrated through the chamber.

The crimson lights lining the constructs flickered. Then one by one, they turned on.

A voice that sounds distorted and artificial echoed from the walls.

"Unauthorized presence detected."

Saeldir and Vael exchanged a sharp glance.

The machines were waking up. And they had just run out of time.

"Curse this metal!" Saeldir cursed.

Aerchon's sword clashed against Laston's cybernetic arm for the hundredth time, the force of the strike sending sparks flying.

Their battle had raged fiercely, neither giving the other a moment to breathe.

Each exchange sent waves of energy through the space, shattering debris and leaving deep scars on the metallic walls.

But then, amidst the brutal struggle, Laston suddenly stepped back. His glowing red cybernetic eye flickered ominously as a smirk formed on his face.

"You know why I haven't called for reinforcements to stop you?" Laston said. "Because I know you won't leave this tower alive tonight. And I just wanted to play with you for our last moment."

Aerchon narrowed his eyes, gripping his blade tighter. His instincts screamed at him that something was wrong.

And then Laston delivered the words that sent a chill through his veins.

"My preparations are complete, Aerchon." The cyber-mage spread his arms wide, the circuits on his body pulsing with power. "My army marches toward your kingdom, tonight!"

For a split second, Aerchon's focus wavered. His stance faltered.

"What do you mean?" he demanded with gritted teeth. His heart pounded in his chest.

Laston's smirk deepened. "You and your allies thought you could stop me here, don't you? You think that taking down Skyreach Tower would end my plans?" He let out a low chuckle. "You're wrong. And you're too late."

Aerchon's eyes widened.

Across the room, Sylra and Arlyn, who had been watching, both froze. The words sank in their minds.

Sylra turned to Arlyn, her expression tense.

"This is bad," she whispered.

Arlyn clenched his jaw. "We need to end this now then," he said, his voice urgent.

Aerchon exhaled sharply, forcing himself to regain composure. He couldn't afford hesitation right now. If Laston was telling the truth then every moment spent fighting here was a moment lost for their kingdom.

But before he could act, the room trembled.

A deep mechanical hum vibrated through the tower, shaking the floor beneath them. Warning lights flashed red, and screens around them flickered with unreadable symbols.

A distorted, artificial voice rang out through the speakers.

"Unauthorized presence detected."

Aerchon's gaze snapped toward the monitors. A live feed flickered into view. It showed a vast underground chamber deep beneath the tower.

And ther, standing amidst an army of cybernetic constructs, were Saeldir and Vael.

Aerchon's stomach tightened. "Damn it!"

Laston followed his gaze and let out an amused hum.

"Oh? Your allies finally found my little surprise? Then I suppose this will be the end of them. Is that Saeldir?"

Aerchon didn't wait for another word. With a sharp movement, he raised his sword, his Magic surging as he lunged at Laston with renewed urgency.

If they didn't do anything now, their kingdom and them, will be doomed.
