I Possessed the Heroine’s Teacher

Chapter 03

Iris, sitting in the corner of the cafe and sipping her milk, complained, “By the way, finding a wallet seems like a pretty boring request.”

Bang!

“Ouch!”

Iris got a knuckle to the head for her foolish remark. Even though she had just come of age, she was so foolish that I had to say something.

“It may seem insignificant to you, but it could be precious to someone else. Don’t speak carelessly, you foolish disciple.”

This was a line that Werner had said when Iris broke his favorite plate, he got angry, and she got angry at him for getting angry over a mere plate.

Iris, rubbing her head, pouted.

“You hit me again! You’re going to be punished for hitting a beautiful girl like me!”

“Disciple… my troublemaker disciple… I think I’ve already received all the punishment I’ll ever get for taking on a disciple like you.”

“Tsk… then why did you take me on?”

“Well, your dad was pretty scary.”

While Iris’s father being scary was one reason, there was another.

Werner was originally an orphan with a talent for magic. He was taken in by the main characters of . Werner took on Iris to repay that debt.

“By the way, the client was supposed to be here by now… it looks like they’re running late.”

“I really don’t like this.”

Iris puffed out her cheeks and expressed her dissatisfaction because the client was only two minutes late.

“That’s just how it is when you’re taking other people’s money.”

Soon, the cafe door opened again, and all the men’s eyes turned to one place.

“It’s been a while, Werner.”

The black, shiny long hair fluttered in the wind. Between the hair, pointed ears made their presence known. And a beauty with a somewhat cold impression stopped in front of our table.

“It’s been a while, Sister Camellia. You haven’t changed since the old days.”

Camellia Peony. A half-elf who was a member of the protagonist’s party in and was second to none in swordsmanship.

“You’ve changed a lot, though.”

“Well, I’m human, so I’m a different breed from a half-elf like you.”

“I’m glad to see your mouth hasn’t changed.”

Camellia was one of the people closest to Werner in . She and Iris’s mother were the ones who took care of Werner when he joined the party at the young age of 10.

Moreover, she was incredibly popular due to her appearance and abilities, and I remember her ranking quite high in popularity polls.

Now that I think about it, there were also a lot of One-Shot comics featuring Werner from the era.

“By the way, I was surprised to hear that you were the client, Sister.”

“As you know, I’ve never been good at finding things.”

Camellia turned to Iris, who was sitting across from me, and asked, “Is that girl the daughter of him and her?”

Here, ‘him and her’ referred to Iris’s parents.

“Yes, my brother left her in my care. Please consider my situation, too, having to take on such a troublesome task.”

I complained and gulped down my melon juice. I tried my best to say something Werner would have said, and it seemed to have worked.

Camellia offered Iris a handshake.

“I’m Camellia Peony. I’m close not only to your parents but also to your master.”

Iris smiled brightly, happy to meet her parents’ colleague.

“Hello, my name is Iris Reyes. I’ve been taking care of my incompetent master, who can’t even do laundry, for 12 years. It’s a huge hassle.”

“Yeah, he’s always been like that. Even back then, he couldn’t wash his hair by himself, so I and your mother…”

The women suddenly teamed up to diss me, even bringing up Werner’s dark history from the era.

“Ladies, please stop talking about someone’s past in front of them. Let’s get back to the request.”

I ignored their gazes, while having a lingering sense of unease, and tried to continue the conversation.

“So, Sister, you lost your wallet?”

“Yes, the wallet itself is precious, but I’d also like to recover its contents.”

“So, what does the wallet look like?”

“It’s a sky-blue wallet with my initials engraved on it.”

“Oh, really?”

I already knew this, but I asked anyway for a smooth conversation. In fact, I knew where the wallet was and what was inside it, but I had to pretend I didn’t know for now.

“So, Sister, where did you lose your wallet?”

“I bought something near the intersection by the Adventurer’s Guild building, and when I entered the guild, my wallet was gone.”

“Oh, really?”

The melon juice was gone with a zzoooop sound.

I patted Iris’s head and stood up.

“Let’s go, my foolish disciple.”

“Why do you always call me foolish?”

“I made a mistake. You’re not a foolish disciple, you’re just a fool.”

This was also a line from the spin-off novel of the original game. I know this because I was such a fan of the game that I bought everything from the drama CD to the spin-off novels.

“You always treat me like this.”

Iris puffed out her cheeks again. She puffs out her cheeks so much that there’s even a sticker of her doing it.

“Sister, we’ll go ahead and look for it. Don’t get your hopes up.”

“Yes, since you’re so forgetful, it’s better not to expect too much.”

Camellia is a woman who doesn’t joke around. So, that means she’s serious.

I muttered the curse that Werner often used.

“Damn half-breed…”

“What did you say?”

“No, I said you’re the most beautiful of all.”

“The youngest, who didn’t even know table manners, has learned to give compliments. You’ve grown a lot.”

As we left the cafe, Iris, who was already outside, suddenly linked arms with me and said, “What was so funny? You didn’t even notice your cute disciple leaving.”

“You’re my disciple, and we see each other every day. I haven’t seen Sister in almost 10 years, or even 15 years.”

“Oh, so it’s because you’re seeing an old colleague?”

“Yes, that’s right.”

The two of them are not just colleagues. When Camellia heard that Werner had died, she shed tears for the first time in the series.

Seeing the usually expressionless woman cry was shocking and touched the hearts of many players. The reactions were…

Title: Isn’t it disgusting to see Camellia cry?
Comment: She didn’t even react when she lost her homeland, but she cried when she heard Werner died.
Reply: That’s how precious a colleague he was.
Comment: Friends >>>> Homeland, you crazy?
Reply: Next, Iris’s fanboy.

Title: Why did Camellia cry?
Comment: She’s an introvert, and Werner was one of the few friends she had.
Comment: He was the one she talked to the most in the game.
Comment: If you think about it, Iris is the real problem.
Reply: Iris fanboy, shut up.

Title: I was so mad at Camellia for crying after hearing about Werner’s death that I fought the boss with her.
Comment: Honestly, it’s natural to be mad when a friend dies because of some nuisance.
Reply: But did Iris know that? What’s the point of being a mod if you don’t ban people like this?
Comment: If you use Werner’s signature magic, she’ll automatically go into a mental breakdown and the boss fight will end.
Comment: Honestly, I let out a scream to get out of it.

“If it’s an old ‘colleague,’ I can’t help it. I’ll specially forgive you,I’m  your beautiful and kind disciple after all.”

“Kind people must have frozen to death.”

I can admit that she’s beautiful, but saying she’s kind is something that would make a passing dog laugh.

“By the way, disciple, can you please let go of my arm? It’s hot.”

“But Master, you’re so bad with directions that you’ll get lost right away.”

“I’m not stupid enough to get lost in my own neighborhood.”

Werner is indeed hopeless when it comes to daily life and finding his way around. But what Iris is saying is just an excuse; she’s been close to Werner since she was young.

Some people ship them as a couple, but I think Iris sees Werner as a father figure.

“Okay, let’s hold arms. It’s hot, and I might die.”

“Hehehe…”

Following the original storyline, we decided to look for the fence first. In the original game, Iris heads to the back alleys after hearing that the item was likely stolen.

And as soon as she enters the back alleys, an event plays out as if it were reserved for her.

“Hehehe, mister, you look like you’ve got some money. How about making a donation?”

“The girl next to you is pretty cute. Why don’t you leave her here and scram?”

As expected of the game world, the dialogue was so cheesy. Even though they were just extras, being thugs, their lines were so corny that it was laughable.

I couldn’t hold back my laughter, and the thugs couldn’t hold back their anger.

“Is this guy crazy? What’s he laughing at?”

“Should I rip his mouth open so he can’t laugh anymore? Let’s see if he can still laugh after getting stabbed.”

Even their threatening lines were cheesy.

“Hehe… Sorry, but you guys are so foolish that I can’t help but laugh.”

“What?”

“Lightning, slither like a snake.”

A snake-shaped electric shock spread from my fingertips and wrapped around one of the thugs. The thug, smelling like roasting pork, collapsed. I might as well buy some pork barbecue for dinner tonight.

“If you don’t want to end up like him, it’s better to cooperate.”

“Y…you bastard! What the hell are you doing to a person…?”

“He’s just unconscious, so don’t worry too much. If you want, you can try it yourself, or would you rather just guide us?”

“… Where are you looking for?”

When we asked for the fence, the thug gave us detailed directions.

“Master, you were so cool just now.”

“Your master is always cool.”

“Yes, yes, I know.”

Iris tightened her hold on my arm. And the back of my head has been feeling hot since earlier. Maybe that thug is still glaring at me. I’ll have to fry him up like the other one in a bit.
