I Possessed the Heroine’s Teacher

Chapter 01

“Master(As Sensei)! Wake up quickly!”

I had never obtained a teaching certificate, but the brown-haired girl in front of me was calling me her master.

“Okay… I’m getting up, I’m getting up… So stop shaking me, Iris.”

I must have died when the VR machine for the game Dragnity Fantasy 2 exploded while I was playing it as a hobby.

“Oh, Master, the sun is already high in the sky. Please wake up quickly!”

However, instead of the King of the Underworld or an angel, Iris Reyes, the main character of Dragnity Fantasy 2, stood before me.

Yes, I had been reincarnated as the master of the game’s protagonist. But I could say that this was one of the worst possible reincarnations.

Werner Alten, a companion of the protagonist in Dragnity Fantasy 1 and a master character in Dragnity Fantasy 2 who teaches Iris various things. In the end, he was a character who protected her from the demons targeting her, died, and left her with a message to find her parents.

It would have been much better to be reincarnated as a villain or an extra in the game. Why? Because they don’t die as long as they don’t commit evil deeds and just live an ordinary life. But in my case… I was a character who had to die unconditionally for the protagonist’s mental growth.

Of course, I liked that sacrificial spirit, but isn’t sacrifice different when I do it and when someone else does it?

Werner’s popularity was also huge in game communities. He was so popular and liked by users for his character, that he had a large amount of content in the forums that could beat any female character.

Title: Werner Alten
Reply: Thumbs up
Reply: This is the last time.

Title: Honestly, if Master Werner had been alive, how much help would he have been?
Reply: Are you comparing him to the great wizard, Master Alten?
Reply: If you think about it, isn’t Iris, who killed Werner, the MVP of the enemy forces?

Title: I like the Iris x Werner couple, so thumbs up
Reply: Why are you doing this to Master Werner?
Reply: Are you a beta?
Reply: Master Werner has a clear preference for women.
Reply: What’s his preference?
Reply: A calm woman.

With comments like these, it was clear that I was in a bad situation. But I still had no intention of making a noble sacrifice. Why? Because I didn’t want to die. Werner was a person with a great personality, but I wasn’t.

“Your cute disciple has prepared a delicious breakfast!”

Iris, with her brown hair flying, scooped up a ladle of purple liquid from a pot and put it in a bowl. Some parts were thin, and some parts were lumpy, a phenomenon that could be called a revolution in the food world.

“Iris, what on earth is this thing?”

“Of course, it’s beef stew.”

It was clear that she had obtained the beef from a twisted underworld. If I kept eating this kind of food, I might die. But I didn’t have the option of running away at night.

“So, Master, did you get a reply from my father?”

“When has that stupid, strong brute ever replied to you?”

Iris was the child of the protagonist of Dragnity Fantasy 1.

If I stayed with her, I might die, but if I abandoned her, I would definitely die. I couldn’t let her know that I wasn’t Werner. It wasn’t a joke; my body would literally be torn into thirteen pieces.

Fortunately, I had the knowledge to teach her in my head. I was a hardcore fan of this game, and combat was no different from actual gameplay. The spells I tried to memorize as a test all worked.

Iris savored the stew she had made and said,

“It’s delicious.”

“It looks like a monster’s corpse crushed by a rock, but it’s surprisingly tasty.”

“Why do you keep insulting my cooking!!!”

Iris puffed up her cheeks with air. At seventeen years old, she acted in a way that didn’t match her age. The production team intended for her to show a lively appearance in the prologue and a devastated appearance in the middle of the story after Werner’s death.

This appearance received a huge response in communities.

Title: It was so sad to see Iris’s eyes become bloodshot after her master died.
Reply: It was her fault, so why is she crying?
Reply: Your mom cries even though it was her fault for giving birth to you.
Reply: 🙁

Title: It was sad to see Iris pretending to be fine and then crying when she saw the beef stew.
Reply: Maybe it was because she hadn’t seen meat soup in a long time.
Reply: Is Iris a North Korean comrade?
Reply: The theme of the second part was unification through communism.

Title: After Werner died, Iris was briefly…
Reply: Don’t spoil it!
Reply: Edited.

I received similar responses. However, now that I had decided to survive, I would not die. I would survive by any means, send Iris back to her parents, and spend the rest of my life as Werner, living a leisurely life.

“Master! What will you teach me today? Sword techniques that split mountains? Magic that burns mountains? Kung fu that destroys mountains?”

“Iris… Did you have a grudge against mountains? Why do you keep trying to destroy them?”

“But isn’t destroying mountains the most certain way to prove your strength?”

“You’re talking nonsense, for real.”

“Hmm… Master, you can’t do it either, right?”

As soon as I scolded her a little, Iris’s face turned into a frown. “Flower garden” was the most appropriate word to describe Iris’s mental state. In the first half of the game, Iris was deceived by others, fell into a trap, and was saved by Werner.

“Earth, gather and strike.”

I recited the spell that formed the basis of the game’s magic system. A solid hand made of earth formed and lightly struck Iris’s forehead. This was the magic that Werner often used on Iris when she challenged his authority as a master.

Usually, when I hit her head like this, Iris would say,

“Master, you’re trash. You’re abusing a beautiful girl like me. One day, I’ll hit you like this even harder, and your head will crack and you’ll die.”

Her words came true, as Werner’s skull was shattered, and Iris temporarily developed aphasia from cursing herself.

“Earth…”

I struck her forehead two more times. It was a low-level magic that manipulated a lump of earth, and it didn’t hurt because it wasn’t a strong blow. But Iris always put on these fake tears.

If you ask me how I can use the magic that the characters in the game use, I’d say it’s thanks to the fact that this game was a VR game. If it were a keyboard-based game, it might be different, but anyone could do it if it only required concentrating power and reciting spells through a microphone.

Magic is fundamentally based on communication with spirits, and low-level magic can be used without communication or with communication with low-level spirits.

To use the highest-level magic, one must meet and make a contract with the spirit king, but Werner was strong even without that.

Werner was a character who taught the protagonist various combat methods in the prologue, so he was skilled in swordsmanship, spear fighting, and archery. On top of that, he was confident in his top-tier abilities, even without a contract with the spirit king.

However, there were various opinions on why Werner, a great wizard, didn’t make a contract with the spirit king.

Title: Hey, did Werner not make a contract with the spirit king?
Reply: The spirit king didn’t have the qualifications to make a contract with Master Werner.
Reply: He’s strong even without it.
Reply: There wasn’t even one person who made a contract with him before Iris.

Title: Why didn’t Werner make a contract with the spirits?
Body: He was discriminated against because he was a man.
Reply: He suffered because he was a man!
Reply: Look at the spirits causing gender conflict.
Reply: Ouch, my head hurts…
Reply: Go to the hospital, you idiot.

Title: The spirits didn’t make a contract with Werner.
Body: Werner is the one who didn’t make a contract with the spirits.
Reply: Is He Chuck Norris or something?
Reply: Brain fart.
Reply: Anyway, he’s still number one in magic damage in the game.

The majority opinion was that there was no need to add such an element since he was going to die anyway.

“Boo hoo, I’m going to tell the world that my old bachelor master is abusing his beautiful disciple!”

“Stop faking tears, Iris. Everything is visible to this master.”

“Is that so?”

You’re famous for faking tears. If being unpredictable is your charm, then so be it, but this is also why you have many anti-fans.

Personally, I didn’t particularly like or hate her.

Iris got up and cleaned up the dishes, and I unfolded the newspaper that she had bought early in the morning. Thanks to my previous life, I could automatically understand words and letters, which was convenient. I wasn’t particularly interested in the gossip of this world, but I had another reason.

‘Baron Braivery Commits Suicide After Being Caught Embezzling Military Funds.’

‘Root Merchant Company Goes Bankrupt Due to Excessive Turnip Purchases and Plummeting Prices.’

‘National Knights’ Association Protests, Claiming Current Politics Are Unjust.’

As I flipped through the boring articles that weren’t much different from the world I lived in before, I finally found the article I was looking for.

‘Recent Price Drop in Parchment Leaves Related Merchants in Tears.’

I hadn’t bought parchment coins or stocks of merchants dealing in parchment, but this was the article I had been looking for with my eyes wide open. It was the article that was only briefly visible in the prologue cutscene when Werner put down the newspaper.

“Haa… Was it today?”

After two months of reincarnation, I was finally able to start the prologue.
