Chapter 92: Guan Yu vs. Abomination
At this moment, not far away in the sky, Bruce Banner, Betty Ross, and her father, General Ross, sat tensely in a helicopter, their eyes glued to the monitor showing the green-skinned monster Abomination wreaking havoc.
Less than half an hour ago, Bruce Banner and Betty Ross had injected the antidote created by Dr. Samuel Sterns in the lab, effectively "killing" the Hulk.
From that moment, Bruce Banner could finally say goodbye to his green-skinned fate and live a normal, humane life with Betty Ross.
But their joy lasted less than a minute before General Ross's men arrived.
As a hawkish representative of the U.S., General Ross had always been committed to reviving and researching the Super Soldier Program. To him, the Hulk was a groundbreaking weapon that could fulfill his vision of an enhanced military.
But now, the prize had slipped from his grasp.
Meanwhile, Emil Blonsky, who had been beaten multiple times during his attempts to capture Bruce Banner, became consumed by resentment and twisted ambition. He forced Dr. Sterns to transform him into Abomination.
Like the Hulk, Abomination possessed immense strength and a violent temperament. His first goal upon transforming was to seek revenge on the Hulk, with the collateral damage and casualties being merely incidental.
As Abomination's rampage continued, the soldiers sent to stop him suffered heavy casualties. Even rocket launchers were crushed in his hands, proving ineffective as the situation spiraled out of control.
In such a scenario, the choices were either to escalate by sending in more soldiers or to have Bruce Banner bring back the Hulk he had just eradicated.
For everyone involved, reviving the Hulk seemed like the better option.
Bruce Banner moved to the helicopter's rear door, preparing for a dramatic leap to trigger the Hulk's return. This method of smashing himself into a "splatter painting" had proven effective before—he even used it later in Asgard.
Just as Banner was about to jump, Betty Ross grabbed him.
"Betty, you don't have to do this. Whether or not I transform, I have to try!" Banner said firmly, leaning in for what might be a final kiss.
But Betty pushed him away and pointed down.
"Bruce, maybe you don't have to take this risk!"
At that moment, it wasn't just those in the helicopter—nearly all the nearby survivors were fixated on the street below.
There, a tall man wearing a red mask slowly walked toward Abomination.
The man was tall, around 1.9 meters, and well-built, but compared to the nearly three-meter-tall Abomination, he seemed insignificant, as though Abomination could swat him into a pulp with a single slap.
Yet many hoped this man could be a hero, someone who could defeat the green monster and save them all.
This city had its fair share of heroes—Spider-Man, Batman, and the Green Lantern. They hoped this brave figure would stand among them as another formidable hero.
Though no one knew what the red mask symbolized, it seemed impressive to everyone watching.
But Su Ye, standing before Abomination, was pondering something.
It wasn't that Su Ye had an odd fascination, but this question had puzzled him for years, ever since he first watched the movies.
Under the worried and hopeful gazes of the crowd, Abomination snorted and swung his palm, as large as a fan, toward Su Ye.
That palm had flipped cars, crushed grenades, and smashed through building facades. Could this man withstand it?
At this moment, some feared that the man might just be a joke, getting swatted into the sky like a shooting star, never to be seen again.
On the street, facing Abomination's massive swing, Su Ye didn't attempt to block it head-on.
The super strength granted by Spider-Man was impressive, but it still fell short compared to a brute force fighter like Abomination.
After all, Abomination's official stats boasted a strength of 80 tons.
Thus, fighting Abomination head-on wasn't an option; he needed to rely on technique.
Abomination's strike, which seemed guaranteed to land, was deftly avoided as Su Ye bent low and sidestepped.
Su Ye then planted his hands on the ground and launched both feet upward in a rising kick to Abomination's chin.
Abomination's brain might have been squashed by his muscles, but he was still far smarter than the Hulk, whose intellect was like that of a child.
He retained much of his combat skills and tactics, and he even managed to team up with the Sorcerer Wong later for staged fights in Macau to make money.
However, against Su Ye's exceptionally fast moves, all of Abomination's skills and tactics became meaningless.
Abomination hadn't even processed how his slap missed when pain shot through his chin, and he was sent flying into the air.
After launching Abomination skyward with a reverse rising kick, Su Ye didn't stop. He followed up with a Hyper Shattering Kick, his body igniting as he drove both feet into Abomination mid-air, sending him hurtling forward like a spiraling fire dragon.
After the Hyper Shattering Kick, Su Ye landed first, clenched his fist, and slammed it into the ground in front of Abomination.
"Energy Fountain!"
Several fiery energy waves erupted from the ground, blasting Abomination as he was about to land. The force sent him flying once more, tracing an arc in the air before crashing into a nearby building.
The scene fell silent. Both the fleeing soldiers and the panicked civilians stopped and turned, their gazes filled with admiration.
The masked man was incredible. Suddenly, they felt a reassuring sense of safety.
Under the mask, Su Ye's expression remained serious.
Abomination was unlike the enemies Su Ye had faced before, such as Whiplash or Geese Howard, whose defenses weren't as formidable as their offensive capabilities.
But Abomination's thick green hide was as sturdy as a fortress. Though Su Ye had fought fiercely, he wasn't sure how much damage he had actually inflicted.
If he had to compare, Abomination's defensive capabilities were probably second only to the Destroyer, forged from Asgard's special Uru metal.
