Chapter 43: Spider-Man, You’re Cheating!
The newly arrived man went by the alias Bullseye. His real name didn't matter.
He was one of Kingpin's subordinates, a martial arts master with superhuman physical abilities. Most importantly, he was a man with a 100% accuracy rate.
He could throw a knife from dozens of meters away and have it land precisely in front of Harry's toes. He could also accurately deflect multiple high-speed pumpkin blades. His abilities fully embodied the phrase "Only the name can be wrong, never the nickname."
Unfortunately, Bullseye was insane, which had something to do with his early life experiences...
But that wasn't important.
What mattered was that he was currently a hired gun for Kingpin, committing heinous crimes for money. He was an unrepentant supervillain.
Tonight's setup was simple: the Mafia would wear Harry down and drain his ammunition, Yoshioka would keep him occupied, and the supervillain Bullseye would deliver the final blow.
His arrival signified that the Green Goblin had reached a dead end.
Barring any surprises, it was Bullseye's time to reap his victory.
But before the sun could rise, the unexpected arrived first.
As Bullseye strutted toward the Green Goblin with a flamboyant and cocky gait, wearing a victorious smile, an unplanned individual entered the scene.
"Yo! Busy here, huh? Hope I'm not interrupting!"
A voice rang out without warning. Yoshioka and Bullseye turned in surprise, spotting a red-and-black clad figure squatting on a rooftop structure in the night.
"Spider-Man!"
Yoshioka couldn't help but shout. Spider-Man had easily defeated the Green Goblin and was a legend in New York's underworld. His infrequent appearances only made his legend more fearsome.
When the Green Goblin debuted, he was lucky to measure himself against Iron Man. If it had been Spider-Man, New Yorkers would have trashed his reputation instantly.
Many fans were even starting to deify Spider-Man.
Facing such a Spider-Man, Yoshioka's confidence plummeted by half.
"You're Spider-Man?" Bullseye chuckled.
Having just returned from overseas, Bullseye had heard of Spider-Man's exploits but dismissed them with disdain.
To Bullseye, Spider-Man's success in New York was simply due to his own absence. Now that he was here, even a godlike Spider-Man would be brought to his knees.
As a neurotic, Bullseye's confidence in this idea was unsurprising. If even Iron Man could be nearly assassinated, why not Spider-Man?
Meanwhile, Harry furrowed his brow.
"Why does this Spider-Man's voice sound so familiar? That flippant tone, that carefree attitude, that..."
Harry's eyes lit up beneath his mask as if he had grasped something crucial, but he wasn't entirely sure.
Meanwhile, Bullseye had already launched his attack on Spider-Man.
With a flick of his hand, Bullseye unleashed a flurry of objects—knives, coins, lighters—scattering like a blossoming flower, all curving toward Spider-Man.
Spider-Man's suit didn't seem as robust as the Green Goblin's. If struck by one of those hidden knives, he'd be seriously injured.
To Bullseye, Spider-Man's webbing was nothing more than a child's plaything.
Spider-Man could swing freely through the city because he had never encountered someone capable of cutting his webbing mid-air. Bullseye was confident he was the man who could destroy Spider-Man's greatest advantage.
'Come on, use your webbing. Try to swing away! I'll show you that your webs are useless against me!'
At some point, a few more knives appeared in Bullseye's hands, ready to showcase his mid-air web-cutting skills.
But Spider-Man didn't dodge or shoot webs to escape. Instead, he raised his hands and fired small white spheres into the air.
Thwip-thwip-thwip!
With a series of rapid-fire shots, all of Bullseye's deadly projectiles were knocked out of the air. His anticipated web-cutting performance never even began, as Spider-Man completely upstaged him.
'I didn't expect this guy to have such tricks, but it's useless. Your little balls only fly straight. My knives, though, can curve!'
Bullseye laughed maniacally as he threw another set of knives. This time, the blades flew like winged birds, tracing arcs in the air. Their unpredictable spin and the turbulence they created made it nearly impossible for Spider-Man to track their paths.
'Let's see how you dodge my Armstrong Spiral Accelerated Jet Shot!'
Alright, that last line was Su Ye's own mental addition. He couldn't believe anyone could wield knives with such finesse, altering their flight paths mid-air, especially not someone as crazy as Bullseye.
Still, these knives were indeed impressive. Using web bullets to hit them precisely would be too difficult, and scattering shots would be a waste.
Dodging wasn't an option. If he had to dodge against Bullseye, it would be a blow to his heroic pride.
A hero must face challenges head-on.
So, in response, Su Ye casually formed an energy ball.
Boom!
A basketball-sized blue energy orb was launched from Su Ye's fist. It spiraled rapidly, stirring the air as it shot forward.
Clang!
Several knives were immediately struck by the orb, ricocheting in all directions.
The orb didn't lose momentum and continued speeding toward Bullseye.
"F**l!"
Bullseye cursed loudly and dodged to the side. While he escaped, the ground where he had stood was left with a massive crater.
The energy orb's power was comparable to a grenade.
Spider-Man could summon grenades with his bare hands?
At that moment, not only Bullseye and Yoshioka but even Harry in the distance felt their understanding of the world being reshaped.
Spider-Man was supposed to be like a spider, right? How did he have such powers? No one said spiders could fire energy blasts!
And then, Su Ye once again demonstrated through his actions that a hero without cheats isn't a proper protagonist.
He leapt from the metal structure, raising his fist mid-air, only to punch the ground below upon landing.
"Missed?"
The thought had barely crossed Harry's mind when a red energy wave shot out from where Spider-Man's fist hit the ground. It burrowed forward like a tunneling mole, rushing toward the still-airborne Bullseye.
At that moment, the same thought crossed everyone's mind, including Harry's.
"Spider-Man, you're cheating!"
