Ch 24
The Newlywed Zergs
He Yi hummed a tune as he leisurely led his shy and flustered female partner, whose face was still overwhelmed by his cheesy words, toward the special registration window. This window was reserved exclusively for nobility and catered only to S-rank male Zergs and the female servants they were marrying. Since female slaves didn’t require registration and female consorts were promoted from female servants, all the females in the hall were of servant status.
At that moment, only five female Zergs stood in line at the window. Upon noticing He Yi, whose popularity had skyrocketed online, walking hand-in-hand with General Zhao, they quickly stepped aside, leaving the front spot vacant.
He Yi, pulling General Zhao along, tried to move to the back of the line, but the females retreated even further, clearly offering the first position to the male lord. Their gazes collectively fell on General Zhao, silently reproaching him: ‘How could you make the adorable and beautiful male lord wait in line?’
Zhao gently nudged He Yi’s soft hand, whispering, “My lord, let’s go to the front.”
Seeing the other females step back again and again, He Yi finally understood what was happening. Fine, if they insisted, they wouldn’t queue. Keeping both parties in this awkward standoff wasn’t helping anyone. He’d experienced this special treatment too often; poor him, his conscience was already thoroughly roasted.
Completely numb. Absolutely numb.
The sub-female worker at the window, visibly excited to see the SS-ranked male lord, who had countless online fans, straightened up instantly, making sure to show his best side. With a soft voice, he asked, “Lord He Yi, hello. Have you brought your prenuptial agreement, or would you like the registry to provide one?”
“I’ve brought it.” He Yi pulled out a printed A4 sheet from his spatial button. In the Zerg tribe, important documents were all in physical form. Paper, as an ancient cultural relic of the Zerg tribe, was cherished and preserved. Modern versions of it were fireproof, waterproof, and resistant to damage, able to last tens of thousands of years.
The worker Zerg took the A4 paper, looking surprised. Compared to the thick stacks of documents other Zergs brought, Lord He Yi’s prenuptial agreement barely filled a single sheet of paper.
Although it was called an agreement, it was really just a way for male Zergs to impose unreasonable rules on female Zergs. After reading some of the so-called highly rated prenuptial agreements on the star network forums, He Yi felt suffocated. The clauses in those agreements kept pushing the boundaries of what he thought was acceptable. No matter how hard he tried, he could never come up with those humiliating rules for female Zergs.
So, he only used the format of the agreements from the forum, modifying the content according to his own ideas. He didn’t want to stand out too much, so he cut corners here and there or replaced certain parts creatively.
The worker Zerg holding the thin sheet of paper didn’t immediately scan it into the marriage registration system. Instead, he hesitated, asking, “Lord, did you really write this? Isn’t it a bit too…”
In fact, he even suspected that General Zhao might have pressured Lord He Yi. “The registration office provides agreement templates. Perhaps you’d like to use our version? Yours puts too few restrictions on the female, which might be unfavorable to you.”
“No, just use mine,” He Yi insisted. He absolutely didn’t want to use the template. This single sheet of paper represented hours of his hard work!
Having just graduated from high school and immediately thrown into an apocalyptic world, He Yi hadn’t even written a college thesis yet. Now, after getting married, he had to stay up late, scratching his head to write a prenuptial agreement. But there was no choice—his spouse would have to read the agreement aloud during the oath-taking, and He Yi wanted to keep a recording of it as a wedding memento. So, it had to be written well.
Zhao, standing nearby, was completely confused. He recalled how He Yi had covered the top of the A4 paper earlier that morning, asking him to sign it without reading. Combined with the worker Zerg’s words, Zhao was becoming increasingly curious about the agreement’s contents.
He leaned over, trying to sneak a glance.
But He Yi swiftly blocked him, giving him a disapproving look. “No peeking in advance. You’ll find out soon enough.”
Zhao lowered his head awkwardly. *Fine.*
Since it was the lord’s wish, the worker Zerg didn’t argue further. He quickly stamped the document with the bright red seal of the Ministry of Civil Affairs of the Zerg Empire and entered it into the system.
After completing the registration, they headed toward the oath hall. As they pushed open the door, an elderly female Zerg with white hair sat at the entrance. Whether male, female, or sub-female, once they underwent the third-stage evolution to adulthood, their appearance would be fixed. Only in the last hundred years of their lives would they start to show signs of aging.
Clearly, the elderly female Zerg before them was nearing the end of his life.
Behind him hung the flag and emblem of the Zerg Empire, adding to the solemn atmosphere. He looked up and smiled kindly, saying, “Congratulations to both of you on your union.”
Without giving them time to respond, he launched into a long-winded speech. “We all know that oaths don’t really mean much, but it’s still good to have them. It was only five hundred years ago that the Empire’s Elder Council voted to add this process. According to social research from the past five hundred years, couples who have sworn an oath tend to have a happiness index 7-9% higher than those who haven’t.”
Of course, this so-called happiness index was mainly relevant to the female Zergs. The elder used the same speech for every male Zerg couple that came to make their vows, simply to ease their impatience after a long wait. However, standing before He Yi, the male lord of General Zhao, the Empire’s shining star, he couldn’t help but add one more line: “Your Highness, I wish you and General Zhao a thousand years of happiness!”
He genuinely hoped that the Empire’s brightest light would find a good home.
“Thank you, and I appreciate your kind words,” He Yi responded, holding tightly to his partner’s hand. His tense expression melted into a smile.
“Thank you,” Zhao nodded in acknowledgment.
While they spoke, the group arrived at the oath-taking platform. He Yi and Zhao stood together at an ornately carved, rust-colored wooden oath table.
The elderly female Zerg, standing below the platform, pressed a button to initiate the oath ceremony. A virtual screen appeared in the spacious oath hall, displaying a beautiful sub-female dressed in formal attire.
Holding a microphone, the sub-female slowly began, “Today, Lord He Yi and General Zhao are officially joined in marriage. I offer my heartfelt congratulations and wish you everlasting happiness! This moment is both a blessing and a testament. Please open your personal devices to receive your official wedding oath.”
Both of them obediently opened their devices, where the sacred and solemn oath appeared on the screen.
The sub-female smiled and made a complex, traditional gesture, “Please proceed with reading the marriage vows.”
“In the star year 3069, on the 153rd standard rotational day of Zerg Star, we are officially joined as a married couple. From today forward, we will shoulder the responsibilities that marriage bestows upon us…” The two of them read the vows in unison.
Their voices, neither too loud nor too soft, resonated clearly in the oath hall, which was made from special materials, amplifying their words with great clarity. The scene, combined with the background music, carried an inexplicable grandeur, like the beating of war drums before a great battle in ancient Earth’s feudal era. It was a majestic sight.
After they finished reading the vows, the sub-female turned to General Zhao, “Now, may the newlywed female servant read the contents of the prenuptial agreement.”
Zhao opened the agreement that had just been sent from the registration center. The contents read as follows:
“Today is the day I am united with Lord He Yi. In response to the Empire’s call and remembering its teachings, I solemnly swear:
1. All income will be handed over.
2. All household chores will be my responsibility.
3. I will not retaliate when hit, nor will I argue when scolded.
This agreement is inclusive but not limited to the above and is subject to an annual review by the lord to ensure it stays current.
This agreement will take effect from the date of signing and is valid for a lifetime. Signed: Zhao.”
His cheeks flushed as he read aloud the prenuptial agreement personally written by his lord.
He Yi’s lips curved into a subtle smile.
This was his crowning moment!
Secretly, he reached out with his right hand to gently scratch the palm of his partner.
The earlier tension vanished instantly. Now, his heart felt like it was filled with dozens of sugar cubes, sweet and bubbly. For the first time, He Yi felt a deep sense of contentment and happiness. He thought, from now on, the Zerg Empire would be his true home because it was where his greatest love resided.
That light scratch made the already tense Zhao feel like his heart was about to leap out of his chest. His entire body was taut like a bowstring stretched to its limit, ready to snap at any moment.
Although the reading only took a moment, it felt like it lasted an eternity. After finishing the recitation without missing a word, Zhao turned and gave his lord a shy yet annoyed glare.
The male lord was truly… too clingy.
He had almost made him read the vows incorrectly just now!
He Yi innocently blinked his dark eyes, his face full of mischief.
[I’m being so good.jpg, hit me if you can, if you’re really willing.jpg.]
The female Zerg, both embarrassed and angry, decided to retaliate. Mimicking his partner, he lightly scratched the soft palm of the male lord, but his touch was even gentler, like a slender, soft willow branch, swaying delicately against the skin.
The female Zerg glared: “That’s what you get for being naughty!”

He Yi: This isn’t just playing with his heart—it’s playing with his life!
