Ch 22
Inexperienced Male Zerg
The next day, the weather changed from sunny to cloudy.
The Star Network was in an uproar. Another double-S grade quasi-royal male Zerg had been born—none other than the male zerg who had returned after his fall from grace. This explosive news shocked the entire Zerg race, like a cannon blast piercing the silent dawn.
Zerg females have two defining traits: they treasure male Zergs like precious gems, and they admire strength. When a male Zerg so powerful that he’s beyond reach appears, the females willingly submit and follow, falling over themselves in the process.
Every major forum on the Star Network was flooded with an endless array of marriage proposals. This was the Zerg people’s carnival.
—However, all this excitement had nothing to do with He Yi.
Human sorrows don’t connect, and neither do Zerg sorrows.
Under the gloomy sky, the villa built along the mountainside still stood out luxuriously, its three elegant and opulent floors showcasing a unique blend of artistry and fashion. Even on Zerg Star, it exuded a noble grandeur.
In a room on the third floor, under the gleam of a luxurious chandelier, an expensive medical pod was placed on a rare, exquisitely woven carpet. A pair of slender, fair hands rested on the semi-transparent lid of the pod.
The owner of those hands was a black-haired male Zerg, so stunningly beautiful that it defied reason.
This male beauty was gently stroking the translucent glass cover of the pod, his gaze filled with pity.
【Lonely in the deep chambers, a single inch of sorrow fills a thousand threads…】
The small robot, Xiao Yi, shuffled around while reciting poetry. It had been updated with an advanced voice engine. Its voice, soft and elegant, carried a tinge of melancholy, floating through the otherwise silent room.
【Seeking and searching, cold and quiet, desolate and miserable…】
Tears rolled helplessly down He Yi’s cheeks as he clutched the medical pod, lifting his head to gaze at the intricately carved ceiling.
Inside the pod, filled with a top-tier healing nutrient solution, lay an exhausted female Zerg, his body in complete disarray, like a broken rag doll that had been played with too much. This scene, no words could fully express the sorrow.
Grief-stricken, He Yi lamented bitterly:
“I should never have eaten that half of a durian!”
“If I hadn’t eaten that half of a durian, I wouldn’t have evolved three stages ahead of time. If I hadn’t evolved three stages early, I wouldn’t have done such a beastly thing to Ah Zhao. If I hadn’t done such a beastly thing—”
Xiao Yi coldly interjected:
【Then you would still be an innocent, pure little male Zerg instead of an adult Zerg who has already… indulged.】
He Yi: “…”
Even the joys of indulgence could not cure his current sadness.
Feeling devastated, he crouched down, hugging his knees tightly as he buried his face in his arms. Weakly, he said:
“Xiao Yi, play some healing poetry for me.”
“The last ones were too bleak. Turns out, trying to numb pain with more pain only ends up with me torturing myself into a heartache.”
The sentiments of younglings are always poetic. Newly adult male Zergs tend to have unpredictable and volatile tempers. Xiao Yi, being highly attuned to the emotions of Zergs, switched to a deep and powerful male voice:
【…Enjoy today’s wine, and today be drunk, tomorrow’s sorrows can wait until tomorrow.】
【…When you reach the end of the water’s path, sit and watch as clouds rise.】
【…A bamboo staff and straw sandals are lighter than a horse—who fears? Clad in a raincoat of mist—】
“Stop!!” He Yi said dully, “Enough, I just want some peace.”
Yesterday, he had undergone a fourth-stage evolution.
It should have been a happy event, but the combined forces of the wood-element energy and the energy from his crystal caused his body to become over-enriched during the evolution process. The surge of energy rampaged through his body, completely driving him mad. Oh, heavens! Oh, earth! The wedding night he had long awaited!
It had forcefully turned into—a dumb male Zerg, delirious and crazed, brutally tormenting a clueless female Zerg!
And that wasn’t even the worst part.
The worst part was that he had awakened an atavistic bloodline. His skin became paler, his features more defined, his voice more pleasant, and his body taller—his mental strength had also significantly increased. Uh… these were all good things. The bad part? He had grown two floppy antennae on his head!
During the period of weakness caused by the atavistic traits, his abilities felt as though they had been locked in an iron box, completely unusable.
So now, he had no choice but to throw the poor, battered female Zerg into the medical pod.
Why “throw”? Because he was furious!
That frugal, foolish female Zerg insisted on being a thrifty, dutiful female servant, refusing to enter the medical pod and waste the extraordinarily expensive top-tier nutrient solution.
The nutrient solution was inanimate, but the Zerg was alive—wasn’t it obvious which one was more important? Ugh, it infuriated him!
But no matter how angry he was, he couldn’t take it out on the female Zerg. All he could do was swallow his heartache, guilt, frustration, and anger, and choke them down together.
Now, whenever he thought of the whip marks on the female Zerg’s back from the electro-bone whip, he wanted to grab a giant blade and rush out to cut that smiling tiger, Howard, in half.
Damn it, how dare he bully his female Zerg like that!
Unfortunately, the one bullying him, Howard, seemed completely unaware of his offense, as he had just initiated a video call.
As soon as the pleasant ringtone rang, He Yi expressionlessly hung up.
Pah!
He wasn’t going to answer. Let Howard do whatever he wanted.
The ringtone chimed again, but He Yi pressed his lips together and pretended not to hear it.
Once, twice… President Howard was not a Zerg who gave up easily. With strong determination and persistence, he kept dialing the video call again and again.
He Yi exhaled sharply in frustration and finally answered.
As the call connected, the light screen revealed Howard’s face, practically grinning like a blooming chrysanthemum. “Lord He Yi, congratulations, congratulations! You’ve successfully evolved into a double-S grade male Zerg. You truly are accomplished at such a young age, a model for all of us!”
He Yi: Old man, we’re not even from the same generation!!
With a cold expression, he simply replied with an “Oh.”
Howard, unfazed, only grew more enthusiastic, his smile widening. “Now that you’re a fully evolved adult Zerg, isn’t it time to consider settling down?”
He Yi: ?? Wasn’t his life partnership already settled?
Holding an electronic cigarette, Howard took a couple of puffs, and wisps of virtual smoke curled from the tip, softening his face with a hint of affection. “Now that you’ve successfully evolved, there’s no need to keep entangling yourself with someone like General Zhao, a tough, rigid military female. Out in the vast central star systems, there are countless exceptional female Zergs awaiting your favor.”
In President Howard’s mind, General Zhao was merely a tool to help a male Zerg like He Yi achieve perfect fourth-stage evolution—used and then discarded. Being able to receive some tender affection before being utilized by a male Zerg was considered a great fortune.
After all, General Zhao was the only double-S grade quasi-royal female Zerg in the entire Zerg Star. Only he could withstand the vast natural energy of a high-level male Zerg like Lord He Yi and better guide his evolution.
As a newly evolved male Zerg, He Yi couldn’t help but think of his inbox, which was overwhelmed with confessions and love letters, making him involuntarily shiver.
No—he did not want to become some irresistible Zerg that attracted endless attention from females!
Why would he need so many female Zergs? Females would only slow down his blade!
The one female Zerg lying in the medical pod was already exhausting him. If there were more, he feared he’d meet an early death! He Yi mentally complained and immediately refused three times in a row:
“No need, I don’t want them, and I’m not interested.”
Howard wore a knowing expression, as if saying, “You don’t understand, young one.” He then added, “You’re not interested right now because military females like General Zhao are too rigid and boring. But once you’ve tasted other Zergs—”
“You’ll definitely develop a craving.” Sitting comfortably in a large chair, Howard reached out with his right foot to lift the chin of a submissive female Zerg kneeling beside him, grinning widely.
Disgusting.
He Yi averted his gaze and emphasized again, “I don’t want other Zergs.” No matter how the winds blew, he was sticking with Ah Zhao!
Howard was about to try persuading him again when he noticed the edge of a medical pod in the background. Inside the pod, there seemed to be… a female Zerg?
He suddenly understood. “So, Lord He Yi, you’ve hidden a beauty in your golden house?”
It was well-known that military females had unparalleled healing abilities—if they were left with even a breath, they would recover on their own. No male Zerg would waste precious medical pods on a military female. Only the most pampered and delicate sub-females received such luxury.
President Howard sighed inwardly: How serious must the injuries be to require a medical pod? It turns out, this seemingly gentle Lord He Yi was also a ruthless Zerg!
Beep, beep, beep—
The “ruthless” He Yi spun around in surprise.
“Ah Zhao, you’re awake?!”
As the pod automatically opened, Zhao sat up, wearing a tight, disposable bodysuit provided by the medical pod. The golden suit clung to his wet body, covering him from his neck to his ankles. Under the crystal chandelier’s shimmering light, he resembled a large, golden dragonfish.
He radiated a brilliant golden glow.
He Yi’s eyes were filled with nothing but the glowing female Zerg. After muttering an apology, he hastily ended the video call, leaving the shocked and bewildered President Howard far behind.
“Master,” Zhao said, wiping off the remaining nutrient solution droplets from his eyelashes. He stepped out of the pod, long legs moving gracefully as he walked to He Yi’s side, standing straight, but with his head lowered very low.
His eyes were downcast, biting his lower lip as if admitting a mistake.
“Hmph.” He Yi’s expression froze for a moment, then he quickly turned his back, avoiding looking at the female Zerg, clearly still angry.
His tone was cold and sharp as he scolded: “Some Zergs talk a good game, but behind my back, they don’t even listen to their master. Not the slightest bit obedient!”
The tone and words were just like an enraged and arrogant male Zerg—cold and heartless, as if he were ready to harshly punish the disobedient female Zerg he spoke of.
However, the two antennae on his head, bouncing happily, betrayed his true thoughts.
The male Zerg, who was saying one thing but feeling another, crossed his arms and waited for the female Zerg to come and soothe him.
Zhao secretly raised his head, sneaking a glance at the male Zerg’s antennae swaying back and forth. Holding back laughter, he said, “Master, don’t be angry. It’s my fault. From now on, I’ll listen to you and be a dutiful and obedient female servant.”
He took a step forward and hugged the male Zerg, whose face was puffed up in anger but was actually brimming with excitement. He placed a kiss as light as a feather on the side of He Yi’s pale, jade-like neck, scented with sweet pheromones.
He Yi’s neck shrank as if he had been electrocuted.
It was both ticklish and tingly.
