I Flirted with the General in the Zerg Empire [Interstellar]

Ch 13

The Lowly Zerg

Upon hearing the Marshal’s inquiry, Zhao’s expression grew serious. “His Excellency Boyer’s death was indeed suspicious. Your suspicions were correct; it is related to that person.”

“So it was him. Do you have evidence?” Marshal Sen’s aura suddenly shifted, his entire being filled with anger and hatred.

Zhao took out a storage box from his spatial button. “This is the box I used last time to store the meteorite. That meteorite is called ‘Dragon Crystal Stone.’ It contains the rarest and most powerful energy in the universe, which is extremely beneficial for enhancing the rank of a female Zerg. The information about it was leaked to me by that person, so I informed Andrew to bring it to the surrender ceremony for a trade.”

“Did that person instruct you to give it to his female lord?” Marshal Sen’s tone was dark.

Zhao’s gaze deepened, as if recalling something, and his face showed deep disgust and rejection. “No, he told me to use it myself.”

A terrifying storm brewed in Marshal Sen’s emerald eyes. “Heh, his plan was well-calculated. As the youngest and most talented of the three S-rank female Zergs, you have the highest chance of evolving. If he could coerce and entice you into marking him, he might actually evolve into a double-S and extend his lifespan beyond a thousand years.”

“Shameless! I would rather die than let him succeed!” Zhao clenched his fist so tightly that veins bulged on the back of his hand. “I originally intended to bring the Dragon Crystal Stone back for your use, but I didn’t expect that he had tampered with my storage box, triggering the powerful energy within the crystal. I was forced to absorb it, leading to a forced fourth-stage evolution.”

Marshal Sen frowned, the scar on his face making him look even more fierce. “His jealousy has driven him mad. Your male lord, He Yi, is extraordinary; sooner or later, he will become a thorn in that person’s side. You must be extra careful.”

He spoke with difficulty, “Do not follow in my footsteps.”

Zhao glanced at the crescent moon scar half-covered by the Marshal’s silver curls and lowered his eyes in guilt. “I’m sorry, if it weren’t for me…”

“What does this have to do with you? This is the grudge of adult Zergs. Back then, it was I who arranged your female father’s marriage; no one could have predicted that your male father would hide his true nature so well.”

Marshal Sen, recalling the male lord who remained vivid and bright in his fading memories, spoke in a hoarse voice, “If anyone is to blame, it is me for not seeing his true nature, which ultimately harmed your female father and also cost me my Male Lord Boyer…”

He wiped his face and said, “Looking back now, it seems your father’s death wasn’t as simple as sudden illness. He was likely silenced by the mastermind behind it.”

When Zhao returned to the villa that evening, he didn’t see the male Zerg in the living room.

Before he had the chance to look for his male lord, something on the coffee table caught his attention. A gilded delivery box stood out starkly against the white coffee table.

He quickly approached it and immediately blushed.

The delivery box was half-open, revealing a power-suppressing ring, muscle relaxants, candles, and an assortment of ropes and small whips. Zhao reached up to touch his heated earlobe, feeling both shy and delighted: This must be a gift prepared for him by his male lord. It seems that tonight…

He lowered his head with a sweet smile, as if dipped in honey. After that sweet moment, he quickly and skillfully picked up the delivery box and headed to the bedroom on the second floor. He needed to get ready. If he had known, he definitely wouldn’t have worked late tonight. He hoped his male lord wouldn’t be upset with him for coming home so late.

Twenty-seven minutes later, a very hungry He Yi emerged from the game room on the second floor.

During dinner, he had been craving Earth’s fruits, and with Zhao not at home, He Yi, who was dining alone, naturally didn’t have much of an appetite and ate very little.

Slouching, he was about to go downstairs when he suddenly noticed a pair of military boots placed in the foyer of the living room. Zhao was back? When did he come home? And why had he gone to the bedroom so early?

He glanced back at the eight tightly closed bedroom doors on the second floor. Seeing those bedrooms, He Yi couldn’t help but feel the urge to complain about the Zerg race’s room design. One of the bedrooms, the largest and most luxurious, was exclusively for the male Zerg, while the remaining seven bedrooms were meant for the females who might be brought home in the future.

When He Yi first learned about the purpose of those bedrooms, he secretly muttered to himself: Do they plan to collect seven female Zergs and summon a dragon or something?

As for the female slaves? They weren’t worthy of having a room; they were only fit to stay in the basement.

Of course, in such an advanced interstellar society, basements weren’t dark, damp, or cold. The so-called basement was more of a symbol of status. After all, no matter how large the space above ground was, female slaves had no place on the surface. In the Zerg race society, the hierarchy was strict, and the system was clear.

He Yi continued his internal rant as he walked to Zhao’s bedroom door. He pressed the doorbell, “Zhao, are you back? Have you had dinner?”

“Why did you go into your room? Are you not feeling well?”

Neither of their bedrooms had soundproofing enabled, so the noises inside and outside the bedroom were faintly audible.

So, as soon as Zhao heard movement outside the door, he started to panic. He silently regretted spending too much time in the bathroom while quickly injecting the last muscle relaxant into his left arm with his right hand, then rushing to open the door.

When the door opened, He Yi froze in place.

He glanced at the female Zerg, who was only wrapped in a white bath towel, and quickly looked away. “Did you just…take a bath?”

“What’s that thing around your neck?” He Yi’s eyes fixed on the brown ring around the female Zerg’s fair neck.

The female Zerg lowered his head and replied softly, “It’s a power-suppressing ring.”

He Yi’s expression was full of doubt and complexity. “This…came from that delivery on the coffee table?”

“Do you like it?”

Speaking of that delivery, He Yi felt quite embarrassed. When he opened it earlier in the afternoon, he thought it was just something he had ordered in the morning. It wasn’t until he opened it that he realized it was actually a big gift package sent by the premarital health checkup center.

While he was feeling awkward about it, he received a game invitation from Cape, the chubby white male Zerg he had met at the health checkup center. Although Cape was immature and arrogant, he was the male lord of Zhao’s friend, Lieutenant General Lan, so He Yi felt obligated to accept the invitation. He went straight upstairs into the gaming pod, completely forgetting about the delivery.

“I like it,” the female Zerg said in a barely audible voice, full of shyness.

He Yi felt a bit pained at the sight. “If you really like it, you can buy a similar ring, but the one on your neck suppresses all of a female Zerg’s powers, which isn’t very convenient for daily life.”

He was genuinely surprised that Zhao had such a preference.

Silently, He Yi added Zerg Psychology to his must-read list.

Only by improving his cultural literacy could he avoid reacting like an uncultured person to trivial matters. In a post-apocalyptic world, if you didn’t have to use force, you shouldn’t. If a big shot suddenly got rich and decided to switch from martial arts to literature, what fun would it be to just be wealthy?

Better to be a cultured tycoon!

Who would have thought that the female Zerg, who had just been acting like an ostrich with his head down, would suddenly lift his head and say, “I don’t want anything else. I just want this. Since my male lord gave it to me, I really like it!”

He Yi froze for a moment. “This was sent by the health checkup center.”

As soon as he said that, the female Zerg’s eyes widened in disbelief, and he looked utterly disappointed, like a wilted eggplant.

Suddenly, He Yi smiled. So that was it.

The female Zerg had thought it was a gift from him, which is why he had been so happy.

He Yi reached out, his slightly warm thumb resting on the female Zerg’s Adam’s apple, and his index finger lightly touching the fingerprint recognition button on the power-suppressing ring around his neck. With a faint “beep,” the ring unlocked.

As expected, it required a male Zerg’s fingerprint to unlock.

He raised an eyebrow and glanced at the red marks appearing on the female Zerg’s skin. “Next time, go easier when you scrub in the bath.”

The female Zerg’s golden head lowered even further in embarrassment.

He Yi tossed the power-suppressing ring into the trash can and couldn’t resist tugging on the female Zerg’s slightly damp hair. His smile deepened. “Don’t worry, it won’t be long before I’m of age. When that time comes, I promise I won’t disappoint you. As for the things in that delivery, if you like them, we can go ahead and buy some to have them ready.”

Upon hearing this, the female Zerg looked up again, delighted. “Really?”

He Yi nodded with a smile. “Really. You can choose whichever styles you like.”

The polite and refined male Zerg lord smiled without the slightest flaw, but no one knew that inside, he was feeling uneasy: It seemed he needed to learn more about the intricacies of Zerg society.

For example, how exactly were those things in the delivery supposed to be used?

Just as he was thinking, the blushing, slightly panting female Zerg weakly reached out and grabbed his arm, saying, “Lord, I… my legs are weak.”

He Yi immediately panicked, half-holding and half-supporting the female Zerg, as he activated the direct mode at the door. “What happened? Did something go wrong with the suppressor ring?”

When they reached the bedside, Zhao, using the male Zerg’s support, slowly moved toward the bed. His eyes were filled with guilt and embarrassment that he couldn’t escape. “It’s the muscle relaxant. I injected it earlier, and the effect is too strong.”

At the time, he had worried that the dose wouldn’t be enough to suppress the power that made him much stronger than ordinary female Zergs, so he injected all three doses. One would have been enough, but he wanted to eliminate any possibility of harming the male lord.

Fortunately, the inexperienced male Zerg didn’t know much about these things.

Zhao crawled up onto the bed along the edge and rolled toward the center, curling up and turning his back to He Yi. Weakly, he said, “Lord, I’m tired. I’ll sleep for a while. Goodnight.”

As soon as he finished speaking, he pricked up his ears to listen for any movement behind him.

He Yi couldn’t help but find it amusing as he looked at the female Zerg, who practically had “refusing to communicate” written all over him. He walked to the foot of the bed, pulled a silver-gray thin blanket over the female Zerg, and adjusted the room temperature on his device. “Then rest well. Call me if you need anything.”

“Mm.”

It wasn’t until he heard the door close that Zhao finally struggled to turn over and sit up, glancing nervously toward the door.

He couldn’t help but berate himself: Zhao, you’re really something!

You actually shut the male lord out.

He didn’t know if the male lord was angry with him. He didn’t want it to be this way, but he was just too embarrassed.

After a while, once he had recovered a bit of strength, he wrapped himself in the blanket that carried the male lord’s scent, sat up against the headboard, and picked up the device on the bedside table to call Star Officer Ze.

Then—

Star Officer Ze immediately hung up on him.

How could he?

Zhao had a lot he wanted to discuss with this married female Zerg.

He tried calling again, only to be hung up on once more.

What was going on?

This wasn’t fair. Back when Star Officer Ze used to call him late at night to flaunt his love life, Zhao never hung up on him. At most… at most, he would just put the device on silent.

After the third attempt, feeling a bit miffed, Zhao tried again. Fortunately, this time the other side answered the call.

However, instead of seeing Star Officer Ze, a teasing baby-faced image appeared on the screen.

“Hi, General Zhao, we’re a bit busy right now.”
