Ch 08
Guardian Zerg
Pasor Star, Villa District A.
Amidst a tranquil forest stood an ultra-large, ultra-luxurious villa. This was an incredibly expensive private residence.
Yes, this was He Yi’s new home, provided by the state.
He still remembered when he had just stepped off the aircraft. Under Marshal Sen’s gaze, filled with absolute certainty, He Yi looked at the vast and desolate mountain area with suspicion and asked, “Is this the residence provided by the Empire?”
Are you sure you’re not messing with me?
Then, reality taught him a lesson.
It turned out that within this desolate mountain area was an ultra-luxurious villa. In the Zerg Empire, due to its vast territory, the Zerg population was relatively sparse. The expansive land meant that each Zerg had a large area of land to themselves.
Thus, in remote areas of the Zerg Star, even if you traveled for hours in an autopiloted aircraft, you might not see a single Zerg. If your flight path took you away from residential areas, congratulations—you would have the opportunity to fully enjoy the scenery of mutated animals and primitive forests. In some wilderness areas, there might even be more spiral beasts than Zergs.
However, there were benefits to having fewer Zergs. You would never have to experience the Zerg crowds during holiday travel.
And now, He Yi, sitting like a lord in his ultra-luxurious villa, only needed to enjoy the high-tech life of the Zerg Star and face the lonely isolation of a dense forest with his future beloved spouse.
Ah, what an unfortunate Zerg he was!
In the morning, the unfortunate He Yi sat in the villa’s dining room, looking displeased. “Ah Zhao, sit down. Xiao Yi, you cook.”
The tall Zerg obediently sat down without hesitation.
However, Xiao Yi, who hadn’t been activated for a long time, was deeply saddened:
[Master, you’re abandoning me! You’ve found a new Zerg and forgotten the old one! Do you still remember the Xiao Yi who chatted with you by the lakeside on the garbage star?]
He Yi replied with annoyance, “Don’t talk nonsense, I never had any feelings for you.”
Xiao Yi whimpered: [Wah wah wah.]
He Yi was puzzled. “What exactly did that technician do to you last night? Didn’t I ask him to replace that old sarcastic chip of yours?”
Xiao Yi paused in its crying:
[He did replace it, but he also installed a ‘Guide to Winning Over Male Zergs’ chip, the basic version! It’s equipped with the latest operating system on the Zerg Star. Do you like it, Master?]
Zhao understood now. No wonder he found Xiao Yi increasingly annoying.
How could you find a malicious competitor pleasing to the eye.
Faced with the snide remark from his competitor, Zhao decided not to tolerate it any longer and immediately fired back, “Master, perhaps I should prepare breakfast instead. Xiao Yi is just an outdated robot. Even with a new chip, the food it makes might not taste good.”
The naive and sweet Xiao Yi nodded its mechanical head:
[Right, right, let him cook. Xiao Yi is already old and can’t do much anymore.]
The biased He Yi tapped the table with his hand, “Ah Zhao, you’ve just recently evolved, so you shouldn’t overexert yourself.”
He then turned his head and threatened, “Hurry up, Xiao Yi, go make some food! If you dare to chatter again, I’ll send you back to the robot factory.”
Ever since he picked up the female Zerg, He Yi had become increasingly indifferent to Xiao Yi, occasionally even pulling out its energy blocks to force a shutdown. The reason was simple: now that he had a nominally soft and sweet wife, who would still want to deal with a mere conversation tool?
He certainly didn’t!
Feeling its fate tightly controlled, Xiao Yi had no choice but to wobble its “old arms and legs” as it diligently operated the automatic cooking machine. Before long, the dining table was filled with a breakfast that looked, smelled, and tasted perfect.
As He Yi ate, he thought: For such a hardworking Xiao Yi, he could mercifully reserve a spot for it as a butler in some corner of his heart.
After breakfast, the mansion received its first group of visitors.
Yes, a group. Sitting on the sofa, He Yi almost thought the group of two male Zergs and eight female Zergs standing outside the door on the security screen had come to pick a fight.
Their presence was so imposing, even two meters and eight wouldn’t be enough!
The leader was an elegant middle-aged male Zerg, whom He Yi had briefly met at the welcoming ceremony. He had short brown hair, deep blue eyes like a cold pond, and wore a tight-fitting, wide-sleeved, luxurious robe with black and gold patterns. His hands were gloved in pure white cotton gloves, and black diamond-encrusted boots wrapped up to his knees.
He Yi remotely opened the door using his smart brain.
In the living room, He Yi glanced at the two distinguished male Zergs seated and the four petite sub-female servants standing behind them, then at the four tall female slaves kneeling on the ground. For a moment, he almost thought he had traveled back to the feudal era of ancient Earth.
He tugged on the sleeve of the female Zerg beside him to signal Ah Zhao to sit down, but Ah Zhao discreetly shook his head.
He Yi rubbed his forehead: Annoying.
The elegant male Zerg gave a gentle smile, “Lord He Yi, we meet again. How are you finding it here?”
“Very comfortable, President Howard.” He Yi smiled.
Hearing this, the elegant male Zerg’s smile grew even more amiable, with a faint glimmer in his blue eyes. “I hope we’re not intruding?”
“Not at all. Your visit brings great honor to my humble home.” He Yi continued to smile politely. Since they had already come, what was there to mind?
The elegant male Zerg’s smile became even more refined. “Well, Lord He Yi, the Male Zerg Protection Association received your health report, which shows your bone age is 24. You’re still two months away from reaching the legal age of 25. According to Imperial law, during these two months, you need a guardian Zerg to take care of you as you grow.”
He gestured to the sub-female servant to present some documents. “These are profiles of noble families on Zerg Star who meet the criteria. You can choose freely.”
He Yi took the document and began to flip through it.
Zhao suddenly interrupted, “President, isn’t a reserve female servant also qualified to be a guardian Zerg?”
The elegant middle-aged male Zerg’s eyelids twitched slightly, and he frowned, “Lord He Yi, this female Zerg of yours doesn’t seem to know the rules.”
He adjusted himself into a more comfortable position, slowly removed the pure white glove from his right hand, and casually tossed it onto the sofa before leisurely speaking:
“Not serving tea when guests arrive.”
“Daring to interrupt a male Zerg’s conversation.”
“Why not send him to the Male Zerg Protection Association? We can help train it a bit.”
Facing Howard’s provocation, Zhao’s thin lips pressed slightly together: You little rascal, still trying to stir things up in front of me, huh?
He turned to kneel on one knee at He Yi’s feet, lowered his head slightly, and used his soft golden hair to gently rub against the male Zerg’s trouser leg. With a voice carrying a hint of magnetic huskiness, he said, “Master, let me be your guardian Zerg, okay?”
All those films he had watched hadn’t been for nothing—this level of seduction was easy for him.
He Yi was utterly charmed by the sudden display of cuteness from the tall female Zerg. He lazily raised his slender white hand to stroke the fluffy head resting on his knee, his long fingers idly running through the smooth golden hair, unwilling to move away. “I apologize, President Howard. It seems I haven’t been a good host. Xiao Yi, serve tea.”
“Ah Zhao is my reserve female servant. I’d like him to be my guardian Zerg. There shouldn’t be any problem with that, right?”
Howard’s graceful smile stiffened for a moment as he looked at the tea brought in by the robot, but then it gradually returned. “No problem.” It had been years since anyone dared to ignore him like this.
While Howard didn’t mind, the young male Zerg sitting on the sofa lost his smile. “Lord He Yi, if I may remind you, General Zhao has been matched 58 times by the main brain for genetic compatibility, with a success rate of 0. There must be something about him that repels male Zergs. You should reconsider using him as a guide female servant.”
A guide female servant is, by definition, a female Zerg that helps a male Zerg through the third stage of evolution. They are often the first female in a male Zerg’s life and hold a special significance. Even if they fall out of favor later, they still receive some level of tenderness and affection from the male Zerg, earning respect from others.
Howard spoke gently, “Indeed, General Zhao holds a high position and is busy with military duties. He may not have the extra time to care for another Zerg.”
Zhao silently cursed under his breath: Despicable.
He looked up and smiled, “Time is like water in a sponge; if you squeeze it, you can always find some.”
He Yi nodded, “Ah Zhao is right.”
He wasn’t some baby Zerg; why bother finding himself a guardian Zerg?
Seeing that the male Zerg before him was unyielding, the president gave up on persuasion and instead said, “By the way, Lord He Yi, here is your personal smart brain. This year’s male Zerg special subsidy has already been deposited. The remaining amount for the past years will need to be decided by the Council of Elders, so please bear with us for a few more standard Zerg Star rotation days.”
He Yi took the smart brain handed over by the sub-female and secured it to his left wrist. “Thank you.”
Howard elegantly stood up and glanced at the four Zergs kneeling as a backdrop. “Lord He Yi, these four female slaves are a small gift from the Male Zerg Protection Association, a token of our respect.”
He Yi glanced at General Zhao, who was tightly clutching his trouser leg, and said calmly, “I appreciate the gesture, but the gift isn’t necessary.”
Howard looked puzzled, “Why? Is the gift not to your liking?”
He Yi discreetly glanced at the hole in his pant leg that had been poked by the female Zerg’s claws and smiled shyly:
“It’s not that, President Howard. It’s just that… I’m still underage.”
Howard was slightly surprised, then a meaningful smile spread across his face. “I apologize, Lord He Yi. When the time comes, I will be sure to prepare a satisfactory coming-of-age gift for you.”
He Yi politely thanked him, forcing a smile as he saw this group of uninvited guests off.
He Yi nestled on the sofa, fiddling with the light brain, occasionally asking Zhao how to operate it. He was very interested in the personal smart brain of the Zerg race.
After a while, noticing the absent-minded female Zerg beside him, He Yi put down the smart brain. “What’s wrong? Something on your mind?”
Zhao looked particularly conflicted.
According to the many films he had watched, there should never be any misunderstandings between males and females. If there’s a misunderstanding, it could lead to tens of episodes of suffering. He didn’t want his master to have any misunderstandings about him because of what the staff from the Male Zerg Protection Association had said earlier, but he didn’t know how to explain it.
Under the warm gaze of the male Zerg, Zhao mustered up the courage to speak. “Master, it’s true that I failed those genetic matches so many times.”
“Oh, is that so?” He Yi raised an eyebrow.
“But it’s because I refused to match with those male Zergs. Before meeting you, I never thought I would ever marry someone. The idea of marriage was terrifying to me. But after meeting you… I’ve even thought of the names for our eggs… Thank you for being in my life,” Zhao murmured, his head lowered.
“Oh? What names?” He Yi admitted he was a bit flattered.
“Huh?” Zhao was slow to react.
“Didn’t you say you’d thought of names for the eggs?” He Yi teased. He shifted on the sofa, moving from sitting to lying down, with the back of his head resting on Zhao’s firm, slender thighs.
Seeing the warm smile in his master’s dark eyes, Zhao’s ears turned red as he belatedly realized what was happening. He subtly relaxed the muscles in his thighs to make his master more comfortable. “We don’t have any eggs yet…”
“Well, you should think about it carefully. There are only two months left…” He Yi’s eyes crinkled with amusement as he watched the bashful female Zerg.
The atmosphere was just right, and affection was in the air.
Author’s note: The author is terrible at naming. Could any lovely readers help me come up with names for the little Zerg babies? There are two of them!
