Chapter 13: [13] Meetings Always Come with Arguments
Chapter 13: Meetings Always Come with Arguments
The so-called Student Council Federation was, as both Ishigami and Ronan had described, a group composed of the children of Japan's top elites, representing the interests of various school clubs. Because these individuals came from the upper echelons of society, they were also known as the Shuchiin VIPs.
The student council president from two terms ago was an external student. Due to his lax attitude toward work, he angered this group, and it was said that his entire family could no longer stay in Japan.
Miyuki was also an external student serving as student council president. Every time he met this group, he barely dared to breathe, fearing he might upset them. But now, with Ronan accompanying him, he felt…
He might not make it out alive today.
Shirogane stood dumbfounded, watching the chaos unfold in the meeting room.
Not even five minutes after stepping in, Ronan had already clashed with the Kendo Club captain—the son of the Superintendent General of the Metropolitan Police,. The two stood face to face, glaring daggers at each other.
"Why is an IW member at Shuchiin? No, why do you even dare set foot in Japan?"
"I came to Japan just to teach you losers a lesson."
"You should have been locked up for life when you were caught back then."
"With your useless old man in charge? I was in Kyoto the whole time, and it still took them a whole day to arrest me. Then they kept me in detention for just three hours, serving me coffee before letting me go. Tell me, did your dad get his position by selling himself?"
"You bastard! Take that back!"
"Spare me. Even if your pathetic old man stood in front of me, he wouldn't dare talk to me like this."
Ronan sneered, poking the Kendo Club captain's shoulder with a finger.
"If you've got the guts, call the Metropolitan Police and have your dad come over with his men to arrest me. Oh, and tell them to prepare some coffee—I doubt I'll be staying longer than two hours this time."
"You—!"
Watching the two people already at each other's throats the moment they stepped in, Shirogane Miyuki deeply regretted bringing Ronan along.
'Why does a so-called "outsider" like you insist on picking fights with a bunch of big shots!?'
"Um…"
A foreigner with a slightly odd Japanese accent finally stood up, walked over to the two facing off, and smiled.
"Don't fight. Fighting is bad…"
"Oh? So it's His Highness, the Second Prince."
Ronan turned his head to glance at him.
"Ah, so Mr. Ronan remembers me. That time must have been—"
"Sit back down."
"Oh."
The Second Prince of the Kingdom of Galdan Alrasam slumped back into his seat, looking dejected.
Ronan walked back to Miyuki's side, glancing at the six people in front of him. Aside from a long-haired girl with perpetually closed eyes and a short-haired girl, he recognized everyone else.
"Ladies and gentlemen, whether you know me or not, I'm here today to familiarize myself with the student council's work and to assist President Shirogane in addressing your concerns. I'd appreciate it if you all could be considerate and not waste too much time—let's not make things difficult for President Shirogane, nor for me."
Shirogane Miyuki: "…"
He already felt like his life was falling apart.
"I have no objections."
The Second Prince, surprisingly, was the first to state his stance.
"Me neither."
"It's just a club budget issue anyway. The sooner we get this meeting over with, the better," the short-haired girl in a beret said impatiently.
"Hmm, then let's move on."
"Tch."
Seeing that the majority had settled the matter, the Kendo Club captain clicked his tongue in annoyance and begrudgingly took his seat.
...
The meeting ended quickly, and by the time Miyuki left the conference room, he was drenched in cold sweat.
"President, are you exhausted?"
"Isn't it all your fault? Do you have a grudge against the Kendo Club captain?"
"Not really, but he was the one who picked a fight with me first."
"Couldn't you just hold back a little? You're an external student—if you offend them, your whole family might end up being sent to Cambodia because of your recklessness!"
"Cambodia sounds like a fun place."
"That's not the point!!"
Miyuki clutched his head and yelled.
"If they decide to use their family's influence, you won't be able to stay in Japan at all! Even I, just for bringing you here, might—"
"Relax, that won't happen. I came here to have your back, after all. I had to say a few things to put on a show."
"You went way overboard!!"
"Mr. Ronan, it's been a while."
Just as Ronan was listening to Shirogane's complaints, a certain Second Prince approached him.
"It has been some time. Last time we met was at a banquet, I believe."
"I'm honored that Mr. Ronan still remembers me. When will you visit us again?"
"I'll definitely make time for it. Once you reach that age, I'll personally come and support you."
"With those words, I can rest easy."
Shirogane Miyuki: "???"
After the Second Prince left, a rather sturdy-looking student with glasses approached, smiling as he greeted Ronan.
"Ronan, you came to Japan and didn't even tell me?"
"There wasn't really a chance," Ronan said with a smile, patting his shoulder. "You've bulked up quite a bit. Your body's looking solid. How about we spar in your Judo Club after school?"
"No way, no way, I'm no match for you."
"…You guys know each other?"
Miyuki asked, confused.
"Oh, it's like this. That Second Prince is aiming for the throne in his country. He doesn't have much chance on his own, but with my support, things would be different. As for the Judo Club captain, I met him back in the day. We used to spar occasionally—though I beat him up pretty badly."
"…Who exactly are you?"
"I'm just a student. My family farms. My father is a farmer."
"A farmer's son knows this many people?"
"President, don't look down on farmers. Producing food is an incredibly noble job—it directly affects people's lives. Are you saying you look down on farmers?"
"N-No, but I still feel like you're not telling me the whole truth."
"I'm seriously considering joining the student council. Every word I say is the truth."
"Hey!"
A voice suddenly interrupted their conversation, making Ronan and Shirogane Miyuki turn their heads.
Standing before them was the girl they had seen earlier.
She had sharp eyes, short hair, and wore a cotton beret. Her overall demeanor exuded a confident and commanding presence.
She was also a member of the Student Council Federation Meeting—the young lady of the Ryujugumi Syndicate, one of the largest wide-area organized crime syndicates, as well as the president of Shuchiin's Astronomy Club: Ryuju Momo.
"Oh, Miss Ryuju. It's been four years. I trust you've been well?"
"You really think you can get away with pleasantries after seeing me?"
"…"
Without another word, Ryuju Momo strode forward, grabbed Ronan by the collar, and turned to look at Miyuki.
"I'm borrowing this guy for a bit. No objections, right?"
"N-No… none."
