I Became the Only Reptile in the Community

Chapter 2

Chapter 2 – When I opened my eyes, I was a snake 2

—–CROW—–

Honestly, even as I posted, I didn’t expect a reply right away.

But that seemed to be my own misconception.

-Ding.

-Ding.

-Ding.

-Ding.

-Ding.

“Sss, sss?!”

With notification alerts popping up like mushrooms after the rain, I quickly checked the post I had made.

[I just woke up here, what is this?]

-Author: YonggariSnack

Looking at the gallery, this seems like the world of SEH, but I don’t know why I was dragged here. Does anyone know?

-Oh, a new newbie!

-Sniff sniff. The scent of fresh meat! A newbie!!

-Welcome, newcomer.

-We welcome you.

The reactions were quite intense.

Like stagnant users about to rot seeing a brand new newbie?

Of course, none of the comments were what I was looking for, just greetings.

-Welcome to SEH, Hero!

-LOLOLOL What achievement did you come with?

-You’ve. Been. Kid. Nap. Ped.

“Sss?”

‘Achievement? What do they mean?’

I immediately replied to one of the comments with a question.

-LOLOLOL What achievement did you come with?

└(Author) Achievement? I don’t know anything about that, explain please.

└You know the achievement you choose in the tutorial of SEH? If you achieve the same thing during gameplay, you get summoned here.

‘…What?’

For a moment, I wondered if it was a joke.

But seeing the other users’ affirmative responses, I realized it was true and my jaw dropped.

And a memory from the past flashed through my mind.

A joke post about the Goddess summoning you to another world if you replicated the achievement you chose.

At the time, I just laughed it off as a common joke post.

That post… wasn’t a joke, but real?!

‘…Wait. The achievement I chose before being reborn as a snake was definitely…’

In terms of tiers, it was an achievement at the very bottom, even below Tier 5.

The [No Miss, No Damage, No Potion] achievement, also known as the Three Outs achievement, the worst achievement in SEH.

Of course, the description of the achievement was full of romanticism.

Landing every single attack without missing, never losing any health, and therefore, not even needing a potion – a romantic setting indeed.

However, despite such a setting, the ability granted by this achievement was not good at all.

It was called the worst among Tier 5 for a reason.

An achievement that even seasoned players avoided.  That was the one I had applied when I last played the game.

“Sss.”

But why did I choose such a thing?

‘Because… it’s fun.’

Other achievements basically fixed about half of the storyline and your starting class.

But the achievement I chose? It had a tremendous number of drawbacks, but that also meant it had overwhelming freedom compared to other achievements.

-So what did Yonggari choose?

└(Author) I chose the Three Outs achievement;

└? LOLOLOL BS.

└You chose that and came here? That’s too much of a joke.

-LOLOLOLOLOL.

-Wow, I haven’t laughed this hard in a while LOL.

Despite my sincere words, people didn’t believe me.

Well, who would play a game without missing a single attack, without taking any damage, and without using a single potion?

But I did it. That’s why I’m here.

“Sss.”

‘But why am I an animal, not a human?’

In the gallery posts, people often uploaded pictures of themselves.

And in every case, they were all in human form.

There was no one like me, in a non-human form.

‘If I’m the only one like this…’

I think I’ll be a little, no, very sad.

‘No. Pull yourself together.  My situation is too dire to be sad about this right now.’

I was a snake that had just hatched from an egg.

In other words, extremely weak.

Frankly, if a carnivorous animal happened to pass by? I could be eaten just like that.

‘I need to hide.’

My own sanctuary where other creatures wouldn’t find me.

I had to find such a place.

Ssssss.

I slithered across the ground, wriggling my body.

At first, this movement felt awkward, but after a short time, I quickly got used to it.

Maybe because I was a snake now, it felt more comfortable than walking on two legs.

Rustle.

‘A presence!’

Not too far away, I sensed a presence as the bushes rustled.

I quickly hid myself in another nearby bush and stared at where I felt the presence.

“Hum.”

‘Is that… a Mana Spirit?’

A Mana Spirit.

Because it had a form and moved around, some might say it was a living creature, but according to the SEH lore, it wasn’t a living being at all, just a phenomenon where mana clustered together and became visible to the naked eye.

‘The fact that it’s here means there’s a place rich in mana nearby.’

Most animals avoid or flee from places rich in mana.

In other words, it was the perfect shelter for me right now!

‘Let’s find it quickly.’

I moved in the direction the Mana Spirit had flown from.

Then I would surely reach my desired destination.

[What’s everyone’s progress?]

[Ugh. Got robbed by a beggar.]

[Today’s snack!]

Of course, I also took time to check the gallery in between, just in case there was any useful information for me.

And I crawled around carefully so as not to leave any traces of my movement, diligently erasing my tracks with my tail.  After a while,

I suddenly felt a chill run down my spine.

Shudder.

“Sss, sss?”

‘What is this chilling feeling?’

It felt like my instincts were telling me I would die if I moved forward any further.

Was there a predator nearby?  But no matter how much I held my breath and looked around, I couldn’t find any sign or trace of a predator.

‘This isn’t just a misperception.’

Could I dismiss this chilling sensation that was still tingling through my body as a mistake?

While I was pondering what was causing this, I finally realized the reason after spotting a Mana Spirit floating ahead.

‘This isn’t because of a predator.  This is… because I’m getting close to a place where highly concentrated mana has gathered!’

Yes. The reason I came here. It was proof that I was close to my destination.

‘Since I’m a snake now, not a human, am I getting this feeling to prevent me from approaching like other animals?’

On the contrary, it made it easier to find.

It meant I just had to go where this chilling feeling was stronger.

A method possible only because I was an animal, not a human.

I immediately followed the alarming sensation deep inside, towards the innermost part.

Ssssss. Pause.

‘Wo-Wow, this chilling feeling definitely makes it harder to approach.’

Even I, with the clear goal of moving towards that place, was hesitant. Should I really go further in? Or should I go somewhere else?

But I couldn’t stop here.

For my safety, and for my future goals, a place rich in mana was essential.

‘Let’s distract myself.’

The closer I got, the heavier my body felt, and the harder it was to move.

If I continued like this, I would definitely stop moving before reaching my destination.

So, I opened the gallery to divert my attention, even a little.

‘I need my tail to move, so I’ll just read.’

[Best Chicken Skewers]

-Author: ChocoMintChicken

This place definitely has the best chicken skewers lol.

(Picture of appetizing chicken skewers coated in soy sauce glaze).

See this? It’s teriyaki sauce, the seasoning is perfect, and they only use chicken thigh meat, so it’s tender, so everyone should try it.

-So where’s the address?

└(Author): Black Market.

-?

-?

-Are you crazy?

-Black Market chicken skewers are tasty though~.

-LOL.

[I… can’t take it anymore…]

-Author: SugarRush

I’m at my limit.  Any, anymore!

(Pictures of papers filled with magic formula calculations and various technical terms)

My brain is at its limit!  This is too much, you guys!!!!

-Yep~ just another mage’s usual cry~.

-Mages have to do at least that much.

-Why did you choose to be a mage in the first place?

└How can you resist Fireball?

└Can you resist Meteor?

Reading the gallery posts certainly felt like a breath of fresh air.

Or rather, should I say my senses were desperately trying to ignore the chilling feeling?

‘Lucky bastards.’

Everyone except me was indeed in human form.

While I was struggling like this to survive, some were making a fuss over memorizing a magic formula while comfortably sitting at a desk.

‘It’s not that diffi…cult?’

Looking at the paper filled with complex magic formulas and unfamiliar words made my head spin.

Unlike when playing the game, this was reality, so to use a single spell, you had to understand and memorize such complex formulas?

‘Maybe I’m… lucky to be born as a snake?’

If I were a mage who had to overcome such a difficult process, I might have given up already.

Shiver.

‘Have I arrived?’

A chilling sensation unlike anything I had felt before.

If I had felt danger from moving forward before, now it felt like even the smallest action could determine life or death.

If I were human, I would probably be drenched in cold sweat by now.

“Sss, ssssaaa…?!”

‘Cr-Crazy. This is beyond what I imagined?!’

Finally arriving at my destination, I found a huge cave.

A chilling cave with an entrance devoid of any signs of life.

And dozens of Mana Spirits floating around it.

‘So many Mana Spirits. Just how much mana is gathered here?’

I wondered if it was a ley line, the source of all mana in this area.

Gulp.

‘Okay. Let’s go in.’

In a place with so much mana gathered, I would surely be able to shorten the process of becoming a mythical creature.
