I Became the Only Reptile in the Community

Chapter 1

Chapter 1 – When I opened my eyes, I was a snake

—–CROW—–

There was a strange game, judging by the reviews.

Reach 100% exploration in all areas, and you’d be summoned by the Goddess.

Defeat all types of monsters, and you’d be summoned by the Goddess.

Clear the game without dying once, and you’d be summoned by the Goddess.

Collect all the characters, and you’d be summoned by the Goddess.

Maximize a skill in one area, and you’d be summoned by the Goddess, and so on.

A mysterious game where players were summoned by the Goddess for various reasons.

Its name was [Save Us, Earth’s Hero!]

The game, often shortened to “Save Earth Hero” or “SEH” due to its long name, was a typical hero story.  A familiar tale of a hero summoned from Earth by a goddess to save another world.

But as someone said, familiar flavors are the most dangerous.

Its familiarity made it easy for anyone to pick up and get hooked. With high-quality character illustrations, various mini-games, and an impressive storyline, it quickly captured people’s attention.

Now, here’s the question: why were those kinds of reviews spreading about SEH?

The answer could be found at the beginning of the game, in the tutorial.

As explained earlier, the protagonist of this game, the player character, was someone summoned from Earth by the Goddess.

The Goddess would summon the player in her temple and say:

“Welcome to our world, Hero (Player Nickname).”

“Wh-Where am I? And how do you know my name?!”

“I am Raine, the Goddess who created the Crydo Continent.  A familiar name to you, Hero, isn’t it?”

“Crydo Continent… Goddess Raine… Those names are…”

“Yes. The name of the continent and the Goddess from the game you were playing.”

That’s right. The player of this game was pulled into the game they were playing!

And through a few lines of dialogue, the player would learn about the dangers threatening this world and be asked by the Goddess to save the world as a Hero!

“Why was I summoned?”

“Because you achieved a brilliant feat, Hero.”

“A feat… you say?”

“Yes, you…”

And then, numerous choices would appear.

So, you get the gist just by reading this far, right?

These choices were the reason the Goddess summoned the player and the source of those suspicious reviews.

The information revealed in the early tutorial was that the player had achieved a specific feat in the game, and the Goddess, seeing hope in that player, summoned them.

There were various feats, and depending on the feat, it would have a large or small impact on the game.

For instance, if the player chose the feat of defeating all types of monsters, they would gain intimidation and bonus damage against all monsters, as well as better rewards than usual.

Of course, there were also drawbacks to each feat.

If you chose the aforementioned feat, the drawback was starting the game hostile towards other races.

[Recommended Feats by Tier]

Everyone knows that the difficulty and direction of the game in SEH changes depending on what feat the player chose upon being summoned, right?

I’ll share my personal tier list of feats and their effects.

Newbies should especially check this out and choose a playstyle that suits them.

.

.

.

-Oh, nice list.

-But isn’t Dragon Hunter Tier 2, not Tier 3?

└Nah, it’s Tier 3. It’s Tier 2 only against dragons, but useless otherwise.

-Wow, that’s Tier 0? I gotta try it right now.

-I recommend Tier 1 or Tier 0 for newbies lol.

└Agreed.

Therefore, users often collected and shared information about this.

Since so many people played the game, strategy guides increased in number in real-time, allowing players to enjoy the game in new and diverse ways, and those who hadn’t played the game before became interested after seeing them and started playing.

It was a truly beneficial situation, a virtuous cycle.

[Hey, did you hear that rumor?]

The one about the Goddess actually summoning you to another world if you achieve the same feat you chose as your achievement LOL.

-LOLOLOL.

-LOL for real.

-I’m going to another world, brb.

-Goddess! Me too!

As the number of people increased, the types of communication naturally grew significantly.

Among them, it was natural to see many posts like this, using light jokes.

But who would have known?

Who would have thought that the content of that post, dismissed as a joke, would turn out to be true?

“Crack…”

“Shit.”

Honestly, at first, I didn’t even know what was happening.

I was playing the game, and suddenly, there was a flash before my eyes, and I was trapped in a narrow space that suffocated me.

I couldn’t feel my arms or legs, and it was so dark I couldn’t see anything.

I was so shocked back then…

With only the instinctive thought of escaping this place, I struggled and finally managed to break free from the mysterious space, and only then could I confirm the reality that had befallen me.

Why couldn’t I feel my arms and legs? Because I didn’t have any arms or legs.

Why couldn’t I see and felt suffocated? Because I was inside an egg.

Yes. I was born not as a human, but as an animal.

One that hatches from an egg! One without arms or legs!

“Crack.”

A snake!

Why did I suddenly become a snake? I was definitely playing a game…

I was so bewildered that I even denied reality, insisting it was a dream, absolutely not real.

[Player confirmed.]

[Activating Hero’s Gallery.]

That is, until this notification window popped up.

“Sss?”

‘Hero’s Gallery?’

Like an interface from a game, it suddenly appeared before me, dropping a gift.

The gift of Hero’s Gallery.

[What the hell is this.]

[Training is so freaking hard.]

[Today’s Academy Menu.]

[Currently in 1st year, 2nd semester, is this decent?]

“Sss?”

‘What is this?’

It was just an ordinary online forum.

Except it appeared on a transparent blue window floating in the air instead of a monitor, and its content was subtly different from a typical forum.

‘Is there anything here that can solve my current situation?’

If so, I should check the posts in the gallery first.

But how?

I didn’t even have hands or feet.

‘Maybe I can do it with my thoughts?’

If that doesn’t work, I have no choice but to use my head to press it.

Contrary to my worries, thankfully, I could check the posts in the gallery just by thinking.

[What the hell is this.]

I ran into this kitty on the street, but it looks kinda unusual, doesn’t it?

(Picture of a cat with goat horns on its head and small wings on its back)

-Why is that thing there lol.

-Isn’t that one of the Corps Commander’s direct subordinates?

└Yep.

└Probably came to spy. Don’t make a fuss.

└That’s a big problem, holy crap LOL.

-(Author) It’s rubbing its face against me, what do I do? It’s so cute.  Can I keep it?

└Then you have a 1-on-1 date with the Corps Commander tonight.

└If it’s Lilith, even better.

└That cat is Ulrika, the superior officer.

“Sss, sss?!”

‘Wh-What is this?’

The picture of the cat, as well as the names Lilith and Ulrika mentioned in the comments, were all familiar.

Because they were characters from the game I was enjoying until just now, [Save Us, Earth’s Hero!].

‘Why are they appearing?’

I continued reading the remaining comments and moved on to the next post.

[Training is so freaking hard.]

In the game, you just click and wait a bit, and training is done, but doing it with my actual body is driving me crazy. My legs feel like they’re going to explode, and my arms have no strength left.

-Should have chosen mage then.

└Mages have their heads explode studying magic formulas.

-Cheer up. You’ll have to go through worse than that, so you can’t give up now.

└Savage lol.

└But not wrong tho?

‘They’re not talking about the game, are they?’

Their reactions seemed too realistic for that.

As if they were posting while experiencing it themselves.

It was the same with other posts.

All the posts were about SEH, and the people here were posting as if they were living inside the game.

‘Did I get pulled into SEH too?’

But why?

What did I do?

‘…Let’s try writing a post.’

If so many people were in the same situation as me, surely at least one person would know the reason.

But there was one problem: I didn’t have the arms necessary to write.

I could read and click posts with my thoughts, but I couldn’t write with them.

“Sss.”

‘What do I do?’

My current body consisted of a head, a long connected body, and a tail.

‘Wait. Tail?’

Flick. Flick.

I tried moving the part that shouldn’t have been there originally.

Right. Left. Right again. Left.

My eyes lit up as my tail moved easily according to my will.

Right, if I don’t have arms, I’ll just write with my tail!

[Please set a name to write a post.]

Of course, I had to decide on a name to use here first.

‘A name? A name…’

I glanced at my current body.

The typical form of a snake, moving by slithering because I had no arms or legs.

For some reason, I remembered a boss I had defeated in the game.

Of course, it wasn’t a snake, but an Imugi, and its size was vastly different from mine now, being enormous.

‘Alright. I’ve decided.’

If this was SEH, even a mere beast like me had a chance to grow.

They said powerful mythical creatures could even transform into humans.

The pinnacle of mythical creatures a snake could reach was, of course, a Dragon.

‘Okay, this will be my name.’

Now that I had a name,

I diligently moved my tail and wrote a post.

[I just woke up here, what is this?]

Looking at the gallery, this seems like the world of SEH, but I don’t know why I was dragged here. Anyone know?
