As soon as I concluded that Seriste might have noticed that I was the real Saint, my mind started racing.
If she was truly certain that I was the Saint, it would instantly resolve many of the issues I had been hesitating about. It meant I no longer needed to cautiously bring up the topic while watching her reactions.
‘I would have had to talk about this at least once before the Machart Elimination Operation, anyway.’
It just became a bit easier to talk about now that I knew it wasn’t only my secret. I couldn’t know how Seriste had figured out that I was the Saint, but as a high-ranking priest, she probably had many ways to discover it.
Fortunately, getting an opportunity to talk to her alone wasn’t difficult. After all, she was the healing priest in charge of treating me after I was injured in the recent evaluation duel, and even now, she was using her divine powers to heal my body in my room.
“…May the blessings of the Sun and the Goddess care for this small life…”
Until now, I hardly had a chance to be alone with her because I shared the room with Agnes, but today, Agnes had already been discharged in the morning, and Seriste had come into the hospital room at her usual time to continue the Holy Power treatment. There couldn’t be a better opportunity to talk one-on-one. [Only on Galaxy Translations! / Axiomatic]
If I could bring Gyeongmwajogyegigwat here too, the conversation would flow much more smoothly, but it would be greedy of me to hope for such a perfect situation.
“…Today’s treatment is finished, Lady Lilith.”
“Thank you, Saint Seriste.”
“Then, I’ll come at this time tomorrow as well. I’ll be taking my leave now…”
“Ah, Saint. Before you go, could I ask you one thing?”
“……”
Seriste froze in place with a startled reaction.
Her response itself was suspicious as if she was hiding something, which gradually turned my suspicion into certainty.
“W-What would you like to know?”
“I’m not sure if I should be telling you this, but…”
“Y-Yes?”
“Recently, every time I receive treatment from you, Saint Seriste, I feel as if some holy energy is welling up from within my chest. Could you please check if this is some kind of illness, or if it’s a natural phenomenon that occurs during the healing process?”
“…Uh, well…”
Seriste’s expression froze as soon as she heard my words, and she began to mumble, which was as good as an answer to me.
At this point, I was almost certain that she had noticed I was the Saint, and she probably hadn’t expected me to bring up the topic of the Saint first.
Originally, there was no way for one to realize on their own whether they were the Saint or not. The part about holy energy welling up in my chest was just something I made up.
But even this question was enough to make Seriste, who was already suspecting me of being the Saint, realize my identity. [Only on Galaxy Translations! / Axiomatic]
Unlike most people who thought Seriste was the Saint, she was one of the few who knew that she was a ‘fake Saint’.
And finally, given Seriste’s self-sacrificing nature, she would undoubtedly choose to acknowledge me as the Saint here…
“I-Is that so…?”
“Yes, Saint Seriste.”
“That’s… interesting…”
“…Pardon?”
“N-Now that I think about it, I have many patients to see today…! M-May I excuse myself first?!”
“W-Wait a moment! Saint Seriste…”
Slide, slam!
“…!”
However, contrary to my expectations, as soon as I half-revealed that I was the real Saint, Seriste fled the hospital room, leaving me alone and bewildered due to her unexpected reaction.
…This might turn into a bit of a troublesome situation if I’m not careful about it.
After Seriste rushed out of my room, I quietly pondered over what had just happened.
‘Was there something wrong with the way I spoke?’
Perhaps I lacked consideration. I should have thought more about how terrifying it might be for her, the fake Saint, to have me, the real Saint, appear before her in this situation.
‘Maybe I should have talked about her safety first before revealing anything…’
Although I would have needed Gyeongmwajogyegigwat’s cooperation for that, revealing that I was the Saint while alone with her might have been a bit hasty.
Of course, I couldn’t deny that the situation was urgent with the crisis looming right in front of us. We needed to be able to utilize the Saint’s power before the Noble Exchange Meeting that Prince Machart would attend.
For that, I had planned to subtly bring up the topic of the Saint to Seriste, and naturally lead the conversation to promising her that I would transfer the Saint’s power to her after everything was over.
I hadn’t anticipated that there would be a problem from the very act of revealing that I was the Saint.
‘If I can’t persuade her today, there’s only about a day left. This is troublesome.’
As I was quietly pondering with my head in my hands, suddenly, the hospital room door opened, and this time, a man entered the room instead of Seriste.
Slide.
“Yo, LilGirlChang.”
…This bastard is at it again. I told him not to call me that.
“…Don’t say that out loud, you idiot.”
“There’s no one in the corridor anyway. Almost everyone except you has been discharged.”
“Still, be careful. Unlike you, I’m in a situation where I can’t afford to be discovered as a transmigrator, you know?”
“Ah, right. Sorry, sorry.”
Gyeongmwajogyegigwat’s unapologetic expression as he barged into the hospital room made me sigh quietly in my heart.
He seemed serious when he was earnestly continuing the main story of the game, but as soon as I revealed that I was a transmigrator, his attitude suddenly became extremely lax.
“Weren’t you a different character until just recently? When I saw you at Seraphine’s impromptu get-together at the end of last year, you seemed quite normal.”
“Well, I was restraining myself in front of the others then. I don’t loosen up this much in front of anyone but you.”
“Then try to be a bit tense in front of me, too. Every time you open your mouth, it’s LilGirlChang this, LilGirlChang that…” [Only on Galaxy Translations! / Axiomatic]
“Well, sorry. But it’s been years since I met someone from home, so I can’t help but let my guard down. Even though Seriste and Selena are close, I still have to act ‘Hero-like’ in front of them. But with you, I don’t need to manage my likability, so, you know.”
“…I don’t mind if you’re like this only in front of me, but please be careful in front of others. I’m still anxious when I think about what kept trying to come out of your mouth during our meeting the other day.”
“What can I do? I’ve seen your username ‘LilGirlChang’ on the Luminor Academy Gallery more times than I’ve seen you here. It’s not really easy to hold back something that wants to come out automatically.”
…If you put it that way, I guess it can’t be helped.
Well, I did see his username many times before I knew him as Gyeongmwajogyegigwat in this world.
Of course, in my case, I was so busy just surviving day by day for several years after transmigrating that I forgot all about such past memories.
“By the way, where’s Ethan? Why are you alone at this hour?”
“Ethan? He’s with the Student Council, of course.”
“…Ah, right. Come to think of it, there must still be some work for the Student Council left.”
“Speaking of which, I heard you and Ethan are quitting the Student Council after just a year. Is that true?”
“…Yeah, there are various complicated circumstances involved.”
I didn’t mention that the reason was because of him and Seraphine. I felt he might feel awkward if he heard that Ethan and Seraphine’s relationship had soured because of him.
Wait, come to think of it, if he came before Ethan, I wouldn’t need to worry about the Seriste problem, right?
“Perfect timing, hey.”
“Hm?”
“Since you’re here, help me persuade Seriste. Subtly tell her that I might be the Saint.”
“Huh? Why this all of a sudden? Don’t tell me you’re trying to join the Hero’s party?”
“Are you crazy? Why would I join that? It’s obvious I’d be running around like crazy for years. I’ve had enough of that in the game.”
“Well… I mean, it is running around like crazy, but…”
Perhaps because he had followed my strategy and almost reached the end of the game, he seemed to understand that the Hero’s party was a difficult journey.
“I only need one thing. I need to receive Seriste’s blessing and awaken as the Saint.”
“Awaken as the Saint… W-What?!”
“What? Are you jealous?” [Only on Galaxy Translations! / Axiomatic]
“It’s not that I’m jealous… Is, is that possible…?”
“What?”
“Didn’t you already go all the way with Ethan? How can you awaken as the Saint if you’re not a virgin…”
Thwack!
“Ugh, cough…!”
My fist reflexively shot out and struck Gyeongmwajogyegigwat’s solar plexus. He doubled over, clutching his chest.
“Y-You’re completely insane, aren’t you?!”
