I Became A Squirrel Seeking For The Villain

Chapter 16

That question was the most important to Yohan.

He wondered where she would go if she left Hyrad and how he could find her again.

But the girl didn’t answer him as if she had no time and spoke quickly.

“And then Ella will try to feed you a potion that turns you into a puppet.”

“Me?”

“It’s a potion that only activates in warm temperatures, so for the time being, eat only cold foods. Vegetables, cold bread, things like that. Don’t eat things like soup, but if you really want to eat, eat it cold.”

The girl continued to speak loudly.

She had a cute appearance, but she spoke in a very gloomy tone.

Her eyes were bright and clear, and her serious expression was extremely serious.

“Fortunately, Ella doesn’t use force on you.…she won’t force someone to feed you. There’s no way they could win a hand-to-hand fight if they tried to feed you.”

“But you…If you become human now…”

Yohan was more worried about the girl’s safety than his own.

Since she has become human now, she won’t be able to become completely human, so where on earth would a squirrel that’s being chased by the temple go?

‘If I erase the seal, she will become an ordinary squirrel, but does that mean she will give up on being human for the rest of her life?’

There were so many things he wanted to ask, but as he looked into the girl’s glassy pink eyes, he felt dizzy like an idiot.

The girl who had appeared in his dreams several times, the one he had seen briefly before and which had remained as an illusion, was right before his eyes.

And more than he imagined, it was much better.

Even just watching and having such a serious conversation.

Despite her blunt speech and prickly expression, which are the complete opposite of her cute appearance.

In particular, the words spoken with a look of concern for him were so sweet that it was thrilling.

“Don’t worry too much.”

The girl said with a smile.

As her eyes twinkled, Yohan’s breath caught in his throat again.

“You will soon be leaving the Duke of Hyrad’s mansion and heading to the battlefield, and by then the true potion will be available.”

The girl’s words, as if she knew exactly what would happen to him in the future, were surprising, but John wasn’t curious about that.

He was far more concerned for her safety than his own.

It was an unfamiliar feeling to him, who had been locked in a tower for a long time and lived by sharpening his sword.

‘I’m not worried about that…’

“And one more thing, I have a favor to ask.”

She said, pointing to the paper and pen on the desk.

“Teach me some letters. I’m in a hurry, so I don’t need everything, just write what I say.”

Yohan was slightly taken aback by the short words the girl spoke, but quickly wrote them down.

The girl squinted her eyes and stared at the paper as if she was memorizing only the letters.

“I’ll erase the seal for now.”

While the girl stared at the letters on the paper in her hand, Yohan gently erased the seal engraved under her collarbone.

The petals of the black roses began to fall one by one.

As the body temperature slowly cooled down his fingers, strangely enough, goosebumps appeared on Yohan’s spine.

The girl was so busy memorizing the letters that she didn’t even notice it.

“But where on earth do you plan to go? Are you giving up on becoming human?”

“That….”

The girl who was about to answer could not continue speaking.

She started to turn into a squirrel again.

“Be careful with the potion. I’ve told you this much, but if you become Ella’s puppet, she’s going to kill you.”

Instead of answering, the girl left a final message for him.

“Don’t be an idiot and heed my warning.”

As soon as the cynical words that sounded like threats ended, the blanket fluttered and the girl disappeared.

It seemed like all the magical power that had been saved for 30 days had been used up.

John quickly lifted the blanket, and a small squirrel was holding a piece of gold thread scattered on the bed.

It was the same thin gold thread that Mariel had tied around the squirrel’s paw.

The squirrel seemed to like the gold thread very much and never took it off during that time.

Even though it was unraveled when the squirrel became human, it seemed that the squirrel had no intention of leaving it behind.

“Kyuung.”

She returned as a squirrel who couldn’t speak again, but Yohan could understand what the squirrel meant.

‘Tie it up.’

Even the tone of speech seemed to be automatically played.

‘The tough speech and a petty squirrel-like appearance…Something they didn’t match, but that made it cuter.’

“Okay, I’ll tie it up.”

The squirrel no longer had the mark on its chest, so it just looked like an ordinary squirrel. That he can’t even recognize it on the street.

Yohan carefully tied a gold thread to the squirrel’s paw.

Later, he would be able to recognize Momo by that gold thread.

He wanted to give the squirrel something of his own as a token, but nothing would be better than that gold thread.

“Momo, if you can somehow survive, please come to me.”

Yohan said seriously, locking eyes with the squirrel.

“If I have to go to the battlefield like you said, then come there. You can absorb my magic power again and become human.”

It was the first oath he had ever made to protect someone.

He was not in a position to give her anything better than gold, but he wanted to risk his soul at that moment.

“I swear to you, I will protect you, even if it is a battlefield. I’d do anything to protect you if it weren’t for this damned Duke of Hyrad.”

The squirrel stared at him.

And the squirrel responded to that touching and serious oath with a grunt.

“Kyung.”

After talking for a while, Yohan seemed to know what the squirrel was going to say and in what tone of voice.

‘You do your best.’

Meanwhile, a loud noise began to be heard outside the window.

“Find it!”

“Where is…?”

“It can’t leave the mansion, so for now….”

Yohan was too far from the tower to hear what was being said, but he could tell what was being said.

The servants were now spread out throughout the mansion, looking for the squirrel.

‘It seemed like they were trying to take her away from the temple, just like Momo said.’

There was no time to delay any longer.

The squirrel shrugged and waved a paw at him.

It seemed like a farewell in its own way.

“See you again, Momo.”

Yohan kissed the squirrel on the nose.

“Kyungg.”

The squirrel didn’t seem to like the feeling very much, so it rubbed its nose with its front paw.

John chuckled and tapped the squirrel on the forehead.

“Don’t worry too much about the temple. I found a way.”

There was no time to explain that.

The squirrel nodded once and then went down behind the tower without looking back.

It disappeared so quickly that Yohan couldn’t even follow its back with his eyes.

Looking down the tower, the Duchess suddenly ordered all her servants to catch the squirrel.

‘Just stay alive, Momo.’

Considering the loud voice that spoke to him and the enthusiasm with which she asked for the letters, it seemed like the squirrel had some kind of plan.

‘It didn’t seem like it would just run away and live as a squirrel in the forest.’

If he thinks about it, it was an extraordinary squirrel from the first day it came to him. Contrary to its small and cute appearance, it was quick to judge situations, cool-headed, and smart.

‘I will somehow survive and meet you again.’

In the end, he couldn’t tell where the squirrel was going, but it was okay.

If the squirrel was right, the temple would produce a calming potion, and he would be able to become a proper human.

‘We’d be reunited again, even if it meant traveling across the continent.’

Not long after the squirrel disappeared, the locked door to Yohan’s room rattled.

“Young Master!”

The servant, seeing that the door was locked, knocked roughly on the door and shouted.

“Open this, Young master!”

Yohan slowly opened the door. A rough-looking servant barged in and asked.

“Haven’t you seen the Young master Tezen’s squirrel? Its name is Blackie.”

“Ah.”

Yohan answered, raising his eyebrows.

“How am I supposed to see a squirrel when I’m locked up in here, and what a lousy name, Blackie.”

“But then why is the door locked?”

“Because I washed up. Now you want to watch me change my clothes?”

Yohan asked back in a mocking tone and then blurted it out.

“If you don’t believe me, just search my room. I don’t care.”

“Ugh…Where did that damn squirrel go?”

The servant really started searching through Yohan’s room.

The idea of a servant of the Duke searching the young master’s room was ridiculous, but Yohan’s status in the Duke’s house was low.

Of course, no matter how thoroughly he searched, nothing would be found.

Yohan watched the scene and then suddenly spoke to the servant.

“That squirrel, if you can’t find it, will you get in trouble?”

“Of course. It’ll be chaos until we find it. I wonder if I’ll be able to sleep tonight…”

“I guess it was hiding on purpose because you haven’t found it until now. The squirrel seemed clever when I saw it during the mealtime.”

“But if the Duchess tells us to find it, we have to find it. I don’t think the squirrel could have left the duke’s house.… ”

“How about this way?”

At the servant’s grumbling reply, Yohan smiled with wide eyes.

Then he whispered softly, like the devil tempting him.

“Kill a squirrel and bring it to me.”

“Yes…?”

“I’ll put a seal on that squirrel’s chest. Then everyone will think it’s Tezen’s squirrel.”
