I Became a Malicious Streamer

Chapter 178

The thought of teaming up with Mollru wasn’t just Daisik’s idea.

He logged into the game, created a character specifically for the island, and skipped the cutscenes to reach the multiplayer area.

He ran over as fast as he could to find Mollru, but quite a few streamers had already gathered around her.

Among them were some he recognized and some he didn’t.

“Daisik, if you don’t have anything going on right now, why don’t we go collect some twigs together?”

“Oh, sure.”

The one speaking to him was Rita, a Virtual YouTuber and the leader of the Flare Crew, which Mollru was involved with.

Originally, Mollru had joined the Flare Crew through a contract with Rita while she was still active as a Virtual YouTuber, but that fell apart once she revealed her face.

Still, it seemed they kept in touch. If they were gaming together, that’s saying something.

Daisik had met Rita once before when he joined Mollru during the opening of the Flare Server in Minecraft. They hadn’t really talked much since their time in the short-lived server had been brief.

“I mean, I did come here fairly quickly, but it turns out I wasn’t the first. Mollru’s popularity is something else… Luckily, the tribe has enough room. And then Daisik comes along too! We’ve only met briefly before, right? We didn’t get to chat much—”

“Uh, yeah, that’s right.”

Still, talking to her wasn’t that difficult. Maybe it was Mollru’s influence that made it not feel so awkward discussing with women as it used to. Plus, Rita was really good at keeping the conversation flowing.

[Daisik really… seems to like all the Virtual YouTubers]

[Is it just women he likes?]

[Die die die die die die die]

[The bane of all men, O Daisik]

[Is it you again… Alpha male GOAT]

[Give us back our distorted hero, O Daisik!]

[Where has the dark king of shadows O Daisik gone, and why is this naive country boy sniping the hearts of women…?]

[Mollru looked happy when Daisik arrived]

[Isn’t that just a plush toy kind of feeling?]

[Kids excited over a fun new toy]

[I’m jealous of even that]

Since the last tournament, just having a normal conversation with a woman could spark such crazy chats from the viewers.

It was ridiculous, and when he remarked, “Seriously, you all are making a fuss over just talking?” they replied, “Wasn’t it true you couldn’t even talk properly before?” They were somehow twisting his words. But at the very least, they needed to respond to his questions. If they didn’t, it would feel like talking to a wall.

He thought it was amusing how people made such a fuss over just talking to women, akin to the hyperactive turrets in the Female Streamer chat rooms. That, in essence, was just turret spamming, while this was the envy directed towards Daisik.

His venting came completely by chance because Rita couldn’t help but wonder why he wasn’t being more expressive in the conversation.

“This situation is a bit funny.”

“Honestly, it’s ridiculous. These people call me an alpha male or whatever at every turn. It’s a meme that’s just so far-fetched, I wonder how long they plan to milk it.”

“We have something similar too. It’s this thing about unicorns…”

Rita seemed to have her own challenges to deal with.

The stories she told were completely from another world. The fact that people took the virginity status of Virtual YouTubers as if it were a major life event was something else.

In severe cases, they’d even go nuts if their favorites tweeted or collaborated with another guy, trying to control the situation.

[They’re insane ㅇㅇ]

[They’re just on the same level as those in this very room]

[Listening to this makes them seem worse than us]

[For real lol, we’re just joking while they act like it’s serious]

[Listening to the desperate pleas regarding Virtual YouTubers… It’s uncomfortable just hearing about it]

Daisik was surprised to find that the chat’s attitude towards Rita wasn’t so bad after all. They seemed to be taking her stories seriously.

Many in his chat would ridicule Virtual YouTubers, but there didn’t seem to be any of that going on right now.

He often requested his viewers respect those he was collaborating with, but since they wouldn’t even listen to their mothers, he didn’t particularly expect them to listen to him either.

“I had a few like that at first. I was originally streaming from the mainland, and over there, the Virtual YouTuber culture is pretty strong.”

“The mainland is Japan, right? You streamed from Japan?”

“Yeah, I graduated from university there.”

“You studied abroad.”

It once again struck him how vast the world is and how diverse the people in it are as he headed back to the Base Camp with the twigs he gathered.

whoosh—

At the familiar sound of an arrow whooshing through the air, Daisik quickly turned his head.

His reaction was fast. But it didn’t mean he could stop it. He turned to see Rita next to him getting hit by an arrow and collapsing.

“Ah!”

“No! Rita!”

Unfortunately, they were in a wide open field with no spots to hide. Even if he wanted to save her, there was no good cover. Reviving is supposed to take place in a safe location—that’s the common sense of the game.

Trying to save Rita might just get Daisik turned into a pincushion himself. With a solemn tone, Rita shouted,

“Go back to the Base Camp right now… Quickly!”

“But…”

“Hurry! Listen to me… If you go down too, our tribe is finished!”

Her unwavering resolve resonated with Daisik. Receiving that willpower, Daisik stood up with tears in his eyes.

He kept running through the hail of arrows. Even after the kill log registered that his ally had died, he didn’t look back.

It felt like a scene straight out of a movie. The sacrifice of a comrade, the surviving fugitive. The one left to live runs away, promising to fight another day…

That reflective moment was shattered immediately by a donation notification.

[O Daisik the Beta Male donated 1000 won!]

-Anyone who sees this would really think he’s dead lol

[For real lol]

[He’ll just drop his items and respawn, right? lol]

[Daisik just filmed a movie scene]

[Did he eat something weird?]

[What’s with all this sudden roleplay;;]

[Daisik getting influenced by the Virtual YouTubers…]

[Daisik was originally in the drama club, right?]

[Going too deep into character, GOAT]

[This is the scary side of roleplaying, everyone]

[We saw a new side of Daisik]

[He was pretty good at acting]

“Cough.”

Daisik cleared his throat, feeling embarrassed, as he returned to the Base Camp, still jumping around with his good-for-nothing character.

*

“Chief, what should we do about this?”

“What is this?”

“I just tossed in the twigs and other materials I had and this came out.”

“Hmm… Just handle it yourself.”

Somehow, I had found myself in the role of a chief leading a tribe.

I had just been a regular primitive person, but now I was the chief of a promising tribe? It seemed a bit odd to be thrust into this role overnight.

There are even times when I woke up as a woman I didn’t even know, but this felt like nothing compared to that.

I had just been playing the game, and now people started to come find me one by one. Starting with Ryuah, then Rita and Jay, with even Daisik showing up unexpectedly.

At a glance, this seems like a bizarre combination. Where on earth would you find this group mingling together? The people seemed to be somewhat pleased by this unusual combo.

[Mollru and Daisik with the Virtual YouTubers… What kind of flavor is this?]

[Mollru has achieved the great union of the Switch!]

[Mollru’s push for unification ㄷㄷㄷ]

I had no reason to turn them away. I wasn’t particularly clinging to playing solo. In fact, for a game like this, it was much better to have a trustworthy partner watching my back.

Jay, who had lost to me on the Flare Server in Minecraft, had shown talent in construction. Even as a beginner playing a game on the island, she was quickly acquiring crafting and building skills.

It really paid off to have worked hard back then. You could see the benefits coming back now.

The Base Camp we lived in now was mostly thanks to Jay’s continuous efforts. It had gone from a primitive hut where I stayed alone to something resembling a medieval stronghold. I gave Jay the title of chief craftsman and set up an environment for her to keep crafting essentials and focus on building.

“Um… Mollru, I want to go outside to farm and enjoy the scenery—”

“The outside is dangerous, Jay. We can’t have someone like you doing something so risky. As for farming, Rita and Daisik just went out, so they should be back soon.”

Jay was our tribe’s chief craftsman, in other words, our engineer.

Rita and Daisik were in charge of farming and scouting. Ryuah was more of a sixth-man role without a specific assignment.

There weren’t enough tribe members yet to assign more varied roles, which was a pity. Ideally, we would divide up into two teams for farming and scouting, with a waiting team holding down the Base Camp.

Me? What was I doing? I was solemnly holding down the Base Camp.

I occupied myself by admiring the floating clouds and occasionally poking at Jay, making time pass.

I wasn’t slacking off in the least. Being a chief means you don’t rush into action but respond to situations as they come.

Sometimes it’s best for a chief to step in only when necessary. That’s the law of being a chief representing a tribe.

“Chief! Something’s wrong!”

From a distance, Daisik was rushing toward me, calling out with an urgent voice. I couldn’t see Rita with him. It was crystal clear what was happening. They had been ambushed by another tribe or something like that.

Yes, it was time for me to step up.

Having grasped the situation, I checked my inventory and stood up.
