Chapter 108: Rewards

A few days ago, on the day of Nezuko's assassination,

"Congratulations, host, your wife Haruko is pregnant," said the System.

"Good, Now I want to ask, has the virus been blocked?" Setsuna asked for confirmation.

"Correct, host. The antivirus has been renewed and now the Halo of Reducing Wisdom can no longer enter this world as long as the antivirus is active," the System confirmed.

"Finally," Setsuna sighed, still remembering how his wisdom had dropped because of the virus. He couldn't even see how Tobirama had plotted against him and the entire Uchiha Clan.

Luckily, he married two wives, or he might have put too much burden on Haruko alone.

"As a reward for getting your wife pregnant, we will give you a prize," said the System. "Please confirm if you want the reward."

"Yes," replied Setsuna.

"A reward has been drawn. Congratulations, host, you've won a Pensieve," the System announced.

"Pensieve?" Setsuna asked again, wanting to double-check. He knew what a Pensieve was — the item from the Harry Potter universe.

"Correct, host, it's a Pensieve," the System confirmed.

"But I don't have magic powers or a wand to use it, so isn't it useless?" Setsuna asked again.

"Don't worry, host. This Pensieve doesn't require magic power, and we've included a wand just for copying memories," the System replied.

"Can I use the wand for magic?" Setsuna asked.

"Nope, this wand wasn't made by a magician. It's custom-made for a shinobi to use and copy memories," the System explained.

"Good. Now, my second reward?" Setsuna asked.

"Host can only receive one reward because only Haruko Hyuga is pregnant. Before this, Uzumaki Akari was also pregnant, which is why you got two rewards last time," the System explained.

"Okay, fine," sighed Setsuna.

---Missing Nin from Takigakure---

"So, how did the job go?" Takikage asked upon seeing Kakuzu.

"He's too strong. I couldn't kill him," replied Kakuzu.

"What? You couldn't kill him?" Takikage exclaimed. "What are we supposed to tell the Daimyo? He paid us 1 million ryo, and we were expecting another million after completing the mission."

The truth was, even if the mission success, Takikage needed Kakuzu get out of the village. Kakuzu was stronger than most of his peers and his presence posed a threat to Takikage's authority. Furthermore he is youngster who show the tendency to rebel and even challenge his dignity.

In the original timeline, Kakuzu had been exiled from the village by the Takikage after failing his mission. Kakuzu was too powerful for the village's own shinobi to handle, so they sent him on an impossible mission. But they had chosen Hashirama instead of Madara, so Kakuzu was spared by Hashirama upon noticing he is just a child soldier who were sent by his village to do an impossible mission. . They should have sent him against Madara, who wouldn't hesitate to eliminate Kakuzu.

But in this timeline, the Daimyo had raised the bounty on Hashirama's head to such a high amount that it could boost Takigakure's economy.

Twenty other shinobi were tasked with killing Kazuha, while Kakuzu was sent to assassinate Hashirama. Now that Kakuzu had failed, Takikage was happy to see him expelled from the village. Little did he know, this decision would soon lead to unexpected consequences.

Since Setsuna's prime suspect was Takikage, he had also seen discussions in forums where he lived in the past indicating that Takikage had sent Kakuzu to deal with Hashirama. Kakuzu's arrival in Konoha on the same day as the other assassins further solidified Takikage as the top suspect in Setsuna's investigation.

---Fire Daimyo Castle---

"Nezuko has been murdered, the mission is half-successful," reported the guards to the Daimyo.

A frown appeared on the fat Daimyo's face.

"Has Madara left Konoha?" he asked.

"No, Uchiha Kazuha is still alive and she's the main reason Izuna hasn't defected from Konoha. Because of her, Madara remains in Konoha to protect his niece," the guard explained.

Suddenly, another guard entered and informed them, "Daimyo-sama, the leader from Takigakure has come to request a reward."

"A reward? The mission is only half complete. How can they ask for a reward?" muttered the Daimyo. "Bring them in."

The Takikage and his entourage entered the castle.

"So, I hear you're asking for a reward?" the Daimyo asked as the envoy approached.

"Yes, Daimyo-sama. We successfully killed Nezuko, but 20 elite shinobi from our village were killed by Konoha shinobi," replied the Takikage.

"My mission was to kill Kazuha, not Nezuko!" the Daimyo shouted.

"But we succeeded in killing Uchiha Izuna's wife, one of the most important figures," argued the Takikage.

"No reward for you," the Daimyo retorted. "The mission was clear—kill Kazuha. Since you failed, I want the money returned."

"What? Daimyo, you can't do this!" protested the Takikage, and even the shinobi accompanying him frowned upon hearing the demand.

"If you refuse, then send your shinobi to kill Kazuha now," ordered the Daimyo.

The envoy swallowed their anger and finally nodded. But little did they know, their actions that day would eventually lead to their downfall especially Daimyo.

---Leak News---

"Takikage-sama, what should we do?" asked the Jonin from Takigakure.

"Release the news that the assassin who killed Nezuko was paid by the Fire Daimyo," ordered Takikage.

The Jonin listened and agreed. The task was done, and the target was dead. Even if the mission wasn't fully successful, the Daimyo should still pay at least 70%. They were still owed 20% more.

But the Daimyo had the audacity to demand that Takigakure return the 50% they had already been paid.

'You think with your money you can do whatever you want. Now you'll witness the wrath of the Uchiha,' thought Takikage, glaring toward the Daimyo's castle.

Later, Setsuna discovered that Takikage himself had ordered the leak of the news. He commented to the system, "Even without the Halo of Reducing Wisdom, this man surpasses the virus in sheer stupidity."

First, he removed the strongest shinobi in his village and now he's leaking his own mission by doing this Setsuna had confirmed the identity of the Kage who received the mission.
