I am not a daughter of the vampire queen!

62. Ally?

They spent a good five minutes just staring at each other. It even seemed like the very air froze from their cold glares.

"Do you think I would just let you have her? How many girls prettier than you do you think tried to take her?"

Nika broke the silence; her very voice seemed to lower the temperature in the room.

"Why would I care what you think? Besides, there is no way other girls wouldn’t try to get her."

Nemi shrugged. As she saw it, it was obvious that she wasn’t first trying to get Julia. She already met one of her rivals after all. Not to mention how gorgeous she was.

"Plus, it is irrelevant what you, her self-proclaimed sister, think of me. Only her opinion matters."

When it comes to love, only the feelings of the couple matter. Anyone else is an irrelevant outsider. So Nemi didn’t intend to pay attention to this woman. Rather she would prefer to go search for Julia’s room and keep her company.

"No… it doesn’t."

Nika balled her fist and gritted her teeth.

"If I wouldn’t protect her... If I would let anybody take her. it would only break her heart."

Nika’s voice was equal to a quiet murmur, but Nemi could hear it clearly. Before she could say anything, Nika continued.

"She is too nice! Thanks to that, you and all others just want to use her."

Nika’s voice was filled with hatred. Her eyes were bloodshot, as she had seemed to snap.

"Don’t matter how they ridiculed her… doesn’t matter how much they say I should be the queen. But once my sister had the throne within her reach, they all changed their tune."

Nika closed her eyes as she recalled an old memory. As she did, she began to tremble in rage.

"They began to shower her in praises. Noble sons were all trying to seduce her. but once she kissed that servant of hers in public, it was all of a sudden, all the noble ladies that were attracted to her."

Nika’s face was filled with disgust as she seemed to recall more unwanted memories. Then she shook her head to clear her thoughts and fixed her eyes on Nemi.

"So, I have to protect her… by getting rid of everyone who tries to use her. be it nobles or our parents."

A proud smile briefly appeared on her face. Nemi stared at her coldly.

"There is no reason to protect her from me. My feelings are real."

As Nemi said that, Nika snorted as if she had just heard the greatest joke of her life. Before long, she was laughing.

"Real. that’s funny. Our mother and father said something similar. Of course, they said it after years of neglect and a few seconds before death. He he, sister’s smile was so cute when she heard about their sudden demise."

Nika’s expression quickly softened, as did her tone. Her hand on her cheek and her blushing expression made her look nothing like the enraged madwoman she was a few seconds ago. It might even be charming if she was not casually talking about killing her parents.

"I killed two of my sisters because they made fun of her. it seems we have something in common."

Nemi would prefer keeping it to herself. But as far as she could tell, Nika wasn’t attracted to Julia and was just overly protective of her supposed older sister. In which case, this girl was not necessarily her enemy. But a protentional ally. So, what if she was delusional? An ally is an ally.

"Ha ha, I guess we do. Considering that tantrum you had earlier, I guess I can trust you with your feelings."

Nika smiled. In an instant, she closed the distance between them and whispered in a cold voice.

"But if you think I approve of you, then you’re wrong. I don’t see you as worthy of my sister’s affection."

Nemi didn’t let it bother her. There is no need to seek her approval anyway. Not antagonizing her is the only thing she should do now, so she nodded her head and looked Nika in the eyes.

"I will prove myself then."

She gave Nika a smile, not hiding the fact that it was meant as a threat. Nika smiled and turned around. Walking away from Nemi.

"You didn’t break down so far. Good job."

Was she testing me? Nemi wondered. Nika seemed satisfied somehow and contently looked out the window.

"Most others would have already given up their charade and shown just how shallow their feelings for her are. Or more precisely, that they only loved her title."

Turning back, Nika looked at Nemi. Her expression wasn’t as cold as it was a few seconds ago, but it was still cold nonetheless. Nemi could see what Nika said. Since she met Julia, she has seen people only wanting to get near her because she is the princess. She herself had wished to just get rid of them, but that wouldn’t be necessary as Julia didn’t like being around them in the first place.

"She is not as naive as to fall for that. She knows how shallow they are."

Nemi hoped that Nika would see them as being on the same side. Nika only shook her head.

"Perhaps. But she was always weak to compliments. Even when she knows they were fake."

Sighing, Nika turned back to the window. Then her eyes went wide.

"That Bitch!"

Nika yelled and turned away, towards the door. Her expression was as angry as it could get. Without any regard for anything, she runs out the door.

Nemi blinked, wondering what had happened. Slowly, she walked to the window and looked out. searching for what Nika had seen. After a few more seconds, she spotted Julia in the garden. And in front of her, a beautiful woman was panting on the ground. While Julia was backing away from her, shielded by her pet. Another pretty girl with dark hair and skin stood by her side.

"Just how many women do you have!?"

Nemi screamed, just like Nika before she ran out of the room. Taking stairs in pairs. Is it just me, or does she always gain new women when I am not around? Nemi gritted her teeth and increased her pace. Sprinting in full strength towards the garden.
