Chapter 277: Chapter 277: The Rule of the God-Kings Begins, the Three God-Kings Divide the Mythical World and Truly Ascend to the Throne!
Hades, Poseidon, and Zeus—these three God-Kings sat silently on their thrones, each seemingly lost in thought, maintaining a calm and composed demeanor.
Behind Hades stood Hestia and the Twin Gods, quietly observing. Behind Poseidon stood only Nereus. Behind Zeus were Hera, Demeter, and Prometheus.
The atmosphere in the temple was thick with silence, as time passed meaninglessly. But for gods, the passage of time held little significance.
Hades silently observed Poseidon and Zeus. Over six million years, both had changed greatly. More accurately, Zeus hadn't changed much, but Poseidon's transformation was profound.
To put it simply, if Hades had been at level 80 six million years ago, he was now at level 120, nearing the max level of 150. Zeus had advanced from around level 60 to 80, showing progress but not much. Poseidon, on the other hand, had leaped from level 60 to about 110, still weaker than Hades, but his progress was evident.
What stood out the most was that, in addition to his power as the God-King of the Seas, Poseidon now emanated a strange, decaying, and eerie aura. This aura was subtle, almost imperceptible unless carefully observed. Only another God-King could detect such an aura, one that would have long consumed a lesser god, turning them into a mad and deranged creature.
But Poseidon remained unharmed, unchanged even, which was both fascinating and unsettling.
Notably, Aether, having ascended to God-King status, was still at a low level, barely reaching level 10 even after millions of years.
Hades and Zeus both noticed Poseidon's change. Hades pondered silently, "This aura feels strangely familiar…"
Hades had a sense that he knew this aura, something deeply etched in his memory, perhaps even imprinted on his soul. After a moment's thought, he realized what it was. This aura reminded him of the entities from the Crystal Sphere—the Outer Gods.
Though slightly different, the similarity was unmistakable. Based on this aura, it seemed Poseidon had come into contact with the Cthulhu pantheon.
Hades wasn't entirely sure. Such memories should have been indelibly marked in his mind. However, the events of that time were too terrifying, and such feelings had been repressed deep in his memory. After all, fear often gets buried in the recesses of the mind, only resurfacing when necessary.
Hades remained composed and was the first to break the silence, saying, "Poseidon, Zeus."
Poseidon, in a cold tone, responded, "Zeus, why don't you share your thoughts?"
"Of course."
Zeus smiled faintly, though his eyes flickered with lightning. He could feel it—not only Hades, but even Poseidon had surpassed him, and by a significant margin. This was something Zeus could not accept.
Regardless of his feelings, Zeus maintained his composure. To lose his cool would be a disgrace.
In another story, Zeus should have been the absolute ruler. But now? He had become the weakest among the three, something his prideful nature found intolerable.
"The Titan pantheon has ended," Zeus began. "The Golden Age should also come to an end."
"I propose we destroy the humans of the Golden Age and create a new race to usher in the Silver Age."
Zeus suppressed his inner rage and spoke calmly, expressing his first proposal.
Hades and Poseidon didn't respond, but their agreement was clear. There was nothing to debate; this was inevitable. The Golden Age no longer fit their plans or the evolutionary path of the Mythical World, and it had to be dealt with.
The focus now was on how to manage the aftermath.
"The Crown of the God-King, I have brought it."
Zeus extended his hand, and the Crown of the God-King appeared, floating quietly before the three God-Kings.
Zeus continued, "A God-King must exist. Regardless, the ruler of all should remain. We three, as Heavenly Emperor, King of the Underworld, and Sea King, are already God-Kings!"
Zeus calmly outlined his thoughts.
Undeniably, while ambitious, Zeus was also highly capable. He had considered everything thoroughly.
The Underworld, the Underworld Palace, and the Netherworld would belong to Hades.
The Sea Realm would belong to Poseidon.
The Sky Realm would belong to Zeus.
As for the Star Realm? It only needed to belong to the God-King in name. No one would touch it. But! If anyone attempted to become the true ruler of the Star Realm, all three God-Kings would oppose it.
Three people sharing a pie is manageable, but if a fourth person joins?
That wouldn't be appropriate.
As Zeus's ideas took shape and gradually became more complete, everything seemed to settle into place.
The rule of the God-Kings was now a given.
And! The division of the world into three was also inevitable.
In the past, Hades, Poseidon, and Zeus had been addressed as "Lord." This was normal, as they were God-Kings but not fully ascended. Simply put, they hadn't yet crowned themselves as emperors and therefore maintained a degree of modesty.
Cronus had referred to himself as the sovereign, but the three God-Kings had always referred to themselves as "I." This detail was important.
Now, however, things were different. Titles, self-references, and status were all about to change.
While Hades considered these changes meaningless, they were necessary. It was a matter of pride and status.
Otherwise, it would be an embarrassment!
