Chapter 12 - Extraordinarily Talent
Shangguan RouYue had long seen through it—Qin Nan was an extraordinary talent, possessing innate wisdom.
Now that they were husband and wife, she saw no reason to hold back. She began guiding Qin Nan in cultivation, wanting her husband to grow strong, so he wouldn’t be bullied and could face any dangers head-on.
Of course, as long as she was around, there was no chance she’d let him face any real danger or mistreatment.
Still, Shangguan RouYue wanted her husband to become powerful. Like many women, she had the desire to see her spouse achieve greatness, embodying the dream of “hoping one’s husband becomes a dragon.”
Such a sentiment also revealed that her focus had shifted entirely to her husband.
Qin Nan, for his part, displayed immense enthusiasm for cultivation, eager to learn and constantly bombarding her with questions. “Can I also fly through the skies like you? Can I punch through a mountain or become an immortal who lives forever?”
His questions, like those of an endlessly curious child, were simple and naive. Any seasoned cultivator would never ask such things.
But for an ordinary person with no prior exposure to the cultivation world, these questions were natural.
Shangguan RouYue didn’t show the slightest impatience, answering every one of his questions in meticulous detail and teaching him without reservation.
If Qin Nan hadn’t just started on his path and could not circulate energy, she would have already passed on the most advanced cultivation techniques she knew.
What Shangguan RouYue didn’t realize was that Qin Nan’s apparent cluelessness was all an act.
It wasn’t that Qin Nan didn’t trust her. He simply worried that revealing his identity as a great demon lord from his past life might scare her, or worse, cause her to distance herself from him or even leave.
Yet deep down, Qin Nan knew her personality well enough to be sure she’d only be upset if she found out—she wouldn’t abandon him.
The reason he didn’t confess was that it seemed unnecessary and might bring trouble for them both. The fewer people who knew about his reincarnation, the better.
His previous identity was far too sensitive. Even if Shangguan RouYue wouldn’t intentionally reveal it, she might slip up unintentionally.
Besides, Qin Nan rather enjoyed the care and instruction he was receiving. When he didn’t understand something, he had an excuse to lean into her embrace, taking full advantage of her warmth and affection.
With life being so comfortable, why ruin the illusion?
Qin Nan’s natural aptitude soon became evident. In just one hour, he managed to achieve basic breathing and energy circulation, allowing him to strengthen his physique gradually. Shangguan RouYue was overjoyed and immensely proud.
Her husband truly lived up to his extraordinary potential.
For most people, this initial step would take a month or two of diligent practice. Even the descendants of prominent cultivators with exceptional talent typically required two to three days.
Shangguan RouYue herself, once hailed as a prodigy of her generation, had needed two hours to master it.
Yet Qin Nan managed it in just one hour—an astonishing feat.
What Shangguan RouYue didn’t know was that Qin Nan had intentionally held back, yet still managed to impress her.
“Brother Qin Nan! I came to play with you!”
A playful, high-pitched voice rang out.
Moments later, a lively young girl with twin buns styled like ox horns burst into the Qin family’s home without hesitation.
Only someone with a close relationship would behave so boldly.
It was Yang XiaoQi, the bubbly childhood neighbor who had grown up alongside Qin Nan.
Her entrance was spirited, a smile tugging at the corners of her lips as she eagerly anticipated spending time with Qin Nan.
However, the scene inside the house stopped her in her tracks. Her clear, bright almond-shaped eyes widened in surprise.
Inside, she saw Shangguan RouYue seated upright on the bed, with Qin Nan lying lazily beside her, using her thigh as a pillow. Shangguan RouYue held a slender ear-pick, carefully tending to Qin Nan’s ears. Her movements were not yet skilled but were undeniably gentle.
What was this? Why were they so… intimate?
Yang XiaoQi blinked rapidly, her expression a mixture of shock and bewilderment, with a hint of jealousy.
“XiaoQi, you’re here,” Qin Nan greeted casually, making no move to get up, continuing to lounge comfortably on Shangguan RouYue’s lap.
“Don’t move. I’m not done yet,” Shangguan RouYue reminded him softly, her voice calm and focused as she continued her careful work.
With her slender fingers deftly holding the ear-pick, her actions exuded grace and care.
Qin Nan’s face bore an expression of pure bliss. The tingling sensation in his ear sent a wave of relaxation through him, his cheek pressing lazily against his wife’s soft, fragrant thigh.
Her thigh was perfect—not only soft but also delightfully fragrant. Qin Nan wished he could stay like this forever.
Yang XiaoQi stood frozen, dumbfounded by the display. She had always known the two were close, but when had they become this close?
Whenever she visited the Qin family in the past, there had always been a sense of formality and distance between them.
But now, the couple appeared inseparable, their intimacy on full display.
Yang XiaoQi felt a surge of jealousy welling up, her cheeks puffing slightly before quickly catching herself and suppressing her emotions.
“Brother Qin Nan, you and Miss Shangguan seem so close. She’s even cleaning your ears.”
“Yes, about that. I hadn’t told you yet—Shangguan RouYue is now my wifey.”
Yang XiaoQi tilted her head, puzzled. “Your… wifey?”
“My spouse.”
“…”
Yang XiaoQi wasn’t stupid; she had understood him the first time. She simply couldn’t believe it and thought she might have misheard.
Now that Qin Nan had spelled it out, there was no room for misunderstanding.
It looks like the two of them have really married.
Yang XiaoQi’s eyes widened further. This revelation was completely unexpected.
The villagers in Niu Jiao Village all knew Shangguan RouYue was a cultivator, an outsider with a cold and aloof demeanor that discouraged interaction. The only person she was close to was Qin Nan, likely as a way of repaying the life-saving grace he had shown her.
Such a relationship seemed normal. No one thought much of it, assuming that as a lofty cultivator, Shangguan RouYue wouldn’t look twice at Qin Nan. After all, their ages and statuses were worlds apart.
So, this turn of events was completely unexpected.
Just two days ago, when she last visited Qin Nan to get medicine, their relationship was nowhere near this level.
How had they gone from acquaintances to husband and wife in just two days? What exactly had happened?
Yang XiaoQi’s expression grew more complicated as she cast a subtle, conflicted glance at the couple.
If her suspicions were correct, it must have been Shangguan RouYue who had taken a liking to Brother Qin Nan’s youthful charm and actively seduced him. She must have been the one to lead him astray, turning their relationship into what it was now.
Otherwise, how could her gentle, kind, and pure Brother Qin Nan fall so easily for this femme fatale, letting her claim him completely?
Qin Nan must be in danger of being thoroughly spoiled by this enchantress!
Of course, the reality was entirely different from her vivid imagination.
From any angle, Qin Nan was thoroughly enjoying the married life. Shangguan RouYue doted on him tirelessly, making his days as sweet as honey.
As a wife, Shangguan RouYue was attentive, virtuous, and beyond reproach. There was nothing to criticize about her.
